This thread is part of the EXPLORE THE WILDERNESS EVENT.
GUIDED WALK

The following morning the students would awaken from their tents and be treated to a lovely breakfast spread before the first event of the day. An elder tribe member would be guiding the students around to teach them new skills and also educate them on the local tribal culture.

After waiting for all the students to gather in the open field outside of the New Moon Gate, the elder stood before the group. She was a shorter lady and had a yellow traditional robe wrapped around her which was adorned with mountain and moon motifs in green and orange with a head wrap on her head that matched the robe hiding the white hair underneath. Around her neck she wore a necklace with green, gold and white beads and she wore gold arm cuffs on her wrists. While she held a walking staff in her hand as an aid, she was most certainly not frail. "Hello all, welcome." She said loudly for everyone to hear. "My name is Nyakato, I will be your guide today. I will advise you not to touch any plants or wildlife you may come across or risk the consequences." Nyakato sadly knew there would be those willing to take the risk of wandering off or causing trouble but she still warned them anyways. "Follow me and we will begin our journey."

"As some of you might know, the mountains that house our beloved Uagadou are home to many species of animals and plants, mundane and magical, some of which you can't find anywhere else." She said as she began to lead the group through the field and towards a path lined with African Olive trees. "Our tribe's ancestors were believed to have spiritual connections to nature thus why we now cherish and protect the area." As she spoke a high pitched sound could be heard from somewhere in the trees that lined the path. "This is not part of the lessons exactly but," Nyakato brought her hands up to her face and cupped them over her mouth before mimicking the call that the students had just heard. Soon after a bird of blue and green with little hints of red came flying out of the trees above them and then off in the distance. "A little bird call, that was a Rwenzori Turaco, a bird local to this area." She explained before turning and continuing on down the path through the trees. Along the path more flora could be seen, wild orchids, tree ferns and begonias.
As the made their way along even more could be seen. Giant Groundsels, everlasting flowers, St. John's Wort, and trees draped in moss. Nyakato stopped suddenly along the path and turned slowly to face the students. "Dear students, look around," She said as she too turned to look all around them. "What do you notice? Do you see any signs of animals?" It was time for the students first lesson, tracking. Nyakato was eager to see if any of them would be able to pick out anything before she would explain further.
