Getting Sorted!

"Morissette, Julia."

Julia took a deep breath and approached the stool. This is it...

When the hat was placed on her head, it covered her eyes, making her see only darkness. The Hat's voice was loud, but also seemed to be only for her. She could hear it in her mind, and it seemed to be echoing in the darkness.

"Hmm... Curious, yes... Intelligent... perhaps Ravenclaw... Oh, but very kind as well. Hufflepuff, perhaps... Determined, ambitious, too. Hmm... Ah, I see... you are an adventurer. A courageous one, unafraid to stand up for what is right. That makes you... GRYFFINDOR!" The Great Hall, especially the Gryffindor table, erupted in applause and cheers.

Julia's eyebrows raised in surprise, a large smile appearing on her face. According to the books she'd read, she thought for sure she'd be Ravenclaw, but she certainly wasn't complaining about Gryffindor. Bravery, determination, and loyalty? Awesome! As the hat was lifted off her head, Julia hopped off the stool and skipped to the Gryffindor table, passing other tables as she went. She took a seat on the end, where other newly sorted first-years were seated.

"Hi!" She greeted them excitedly, but soon turned her attention back to the Sorting.
