The story of the Invisibility Cloak stands completely apart from the other Deathly Hallows. While its sister artifacts brought endless blood, tragedy, and power-hungry madness to their owners, the Cloak was passed down quietly through a single family line for centuries, protected by wisdom, humility, and love.
Origins in Legend
According to The Tales of Beedle the Bard, the Cloak was created around the 13th century by Death and given to Ignotus Peverell, the youngest of the three brothers. While his older brothers demanded unstoppable power and the ability to taunt death, Ignotus simply asked for something that would allow him to walk away without being followed. Wise and humble, Ignotus used the Cloak to evade Death until he lived a long, full life, eventually handing it down to his son and greeting Death as an old friend.
A True Hallow
Everyday invisibility cloaks are created using Disillusionment Charms or woven from Demiguise hair, but those eventually fade, tear, or lose their magic. The Invisibility Cloak of the Peverell line is entirely different:
Impervious to Magic: It never fades with age, cannot be torn or damaged by conventional spells, and completely resists summoning charms and hexes.
Complete Concealment: It provides total, absolute invisibility to anyone standing beneath it, hiding them completely from sight.
