Only a Rat could Tell

Date: Sept. 11th
Ughhh where is he?!
"Slartchhhhhh" Willow drags out the name she came up with for her new, we shall say, friend. Any other person that found him would've ran and screamed. But Willow felt something for him that she has rarely felt and if she has felt it in her short life she doesn't remember. Pity. This new feeling, hit her hard, like someone landed a punch in her heart. He looked, and still looks, miserable.
"SLARTCH!!!!" Yelling his name once more, she finds a tree and slumps against it. She lets out a frustrated sigh, running her hands over her face, as she thinks of everything that lead to him.Thumping her head against the tree trunk, she groans. Where the hell would that rat be?! She was an idiot for letting it outside! She thought it would fare better in the wilderness. But instead when she put it down, she felt more sad at him leaving. In fact the rat looked frightened and upset at having to go out. But what choice did she have? When Slartch showed his little face in the common room it just caused a commotion. In fact, the poor thing might've died of fright if it weren't for her.....This place sucks she thought as she made her way down to the common room. For once it was quiet down here. Mostly because everyone was probably at diner eating the poisonous mysterious food that appears out of nowhere. Her stomach growls at the thought of food. I need to eat, maybe i'll go down and get some fruit or something. The only things that have kept her alive the past two weeks was her stubbornness, the sour fruity candy that Alana gave her and the few pieces of fruit she ate from the Great hall. But mostly, her stubbornness. Going to the first couch she sees she collapses down on it. Closes her eyes, she finds herself wishing that she was back at home. If she were home, right now she would've been at some sorta practice. The only practice that she never actually belonged in was football. But the coach happened to favour her so he allowed her to join their practices. Boxing. I miss that one mo-
What the hell was that?! Sitting up suddenly, she strains her ears to try hear what she just did. Something ran across the floor. Something small. Watching the floor carefully, she catches a blur of brown running across the floor. Oh it's a rat fortunately rats happen to not freak her out as other students, especially girls. The rat stops in the middle of the floor and seemed to be looking at her. Sadness struck her. By the looks of this rat, it was starving. It was skinnier than the other rats Willow has seen. Which was surprising to the devil child. She would think that a rat in the common room would be fat and plump. Not scrawny and skinny. "Slartch," she whispers, "that's what your name shall be." Smiling at it, she raises her hand ever so slightly trying not to frighten it. Her attempt failed. Thrown out of its trance, Slartch runs back to wherever it was hiding.
Once it disappeared out of her sight, Willow stood up. She had a plan, she's going to go down to the great hall, steal whatever cheese was there and lay it out for Slartch. No animal should look like that.
Letting out a sad and frustrated sigh she fingers the cheese in her pocket that she brought for him. Taking it out, she put it next to her and stared ahead. She finally found something that she cared about dearly and let it go. Oh Slartch where are y- a small skinny brown thing comes running up beside her. Spotting it out of the corner of her eye, she slowly sits up and looks at it. Slartch! Relief and joy runs through her. Deep down, she knew it was him. Same fur colour, not fat enough for a rat, eating the cheese with the same hunger. She let it finish what she brought for him before holding her hand out for it to come to her. Slartch cautiously walked up to her hand and sniffed her fingers. His whiskers tickled her hand as he sniffed. Smiling softly at him she whispers, "I promise I wont hurt you." As if it understood her, her crawled up into her hand. Slowly and carefully, she raised her hand to eye level. "Yep! Your name is definitely Slartch. But we need a last name." She tilts her head slightly as she rummages through her brain for a name, "Oh! Millow. How bout it? Slartch Millow."Something dragged her down to the common room. Heading off to bed early, she was just on the brink of falling asleep until something woke her up causing her to go down to the common room. Self intuition perhaps? Or maybe it was god sending down a warning of some sort. She pondered this while she made her way downstairs. All thoughts halted though when she saw what was happening. A giant crowd of Gryffindors were gathered in the middle of the common room. Raising her eyebrow, she watched from the entrance, girls squeling and jumping away from something, boys laughing and using their wands and sticks, where'd they get sticks from to poke at something. She blinked her eyes in confusion. A slug? What in the world could they be- SLARTCH! panic and worry sent through her and the realization hit her. Of course they'd be messing with him! It made so much sense now! Running forward, she shoved her way through the crowd, just to find Slartch cowering in the corner from the prying eyes. Bending down, she scoops him up in her hands. Others snickered and commented about her saving it. "Rat girl" one of them said. Her neck flared up with red as anger surged through her. If she wasn't holding Slartch she would've slammed her fists through whoever made that comment. Instead she forced her way through the crowd once more before leaving the common room to put Slartch outside.
