Game Mechanics
In case of any queries or concerns, kindly reach out to Avery Abernathy or Chatt AuclairEach match will have a maximum of 6 rounds. A t!choose will be done in the beginning of the game to check which player gets to play offensive/defensive.
The players will alternate playing offensive/defensive after this.
Players must choose an action to perform and owl the moderator regarding the same, and also post within the assigned deadline.
Failure to do so will lead to a void action.
Each game will last till a player earns 3 points. 1 point will be awarded to each hit.
There shall be a mod post after each deadline.There are four offensive and defensive actions:
Offensive:
• Lunge: Acc
Most common attacking technique, in which the fencer launches themselves at their opponent by pushing off from the back leg which generally remains stationary.
Roll: 1d20+Acc• Feint: Wis
A false attack intended to get a reaction from the opposing fencer which will open the competitor up to a genuine attack.
Roll: 1d20+Wis• Beat: Wis
Sharp tap on the opponent’s blade to initiate an attack or provoke a reaction.
Roll: 1d20+AccDefensive:• Disengagement: Acc
A break of contact between fencers' blades made by passing the blade under or over the opponent's.
Roll: 1d20+Acc
• Retreat (dodge): Eva
Stepping backward quickly to escape the opponent's attack range, making their attack fall short.
Roll: 1d20+Eva• Parry: Str
A defensive action in which a fencer blocks the opponent's blade.
Roll: 1d20+Str• Counter-Parry: Acc
Deflection of the opponent’s attacking blade by making a circle around it with the sword point.
Roll: 1d20+Acc• Stop Hit: Sta
A counter‐action made during the opponent’s attack, to land a point before they do.
Roll: 1d20+StaDC for actions:
The DC for actions will differ according to student years.
Years 1-2: DC 12 for each action
Years 3-4: DC 17 for each action
Years 5-6: DC 22 for each action
Year 7: DC 27 for each actionThe success of each action chosen by the player will be checked first.
A successful hit occurs when Attacker's 1d20 + stat >= Defender's 1d20 + stat
In this case the attacker secures a point.
If Attacker's action fails while defender's stop-hit action passes, the defender will recieve a point.Fencing Rules (IC):
- This match will follow the foil fencing discipline.
- Donning full protective gear is mandatory.
- Weapons must be kept pointed down when not fencing.
- Touches are only scored by the tip of the blade.
- The target area is the athlete's torso (both front and back).
- The right of way rule will be followed, i.e., if both fencers land a touch at the same time, priority will be given to the attacker and they will score a point.
OOC Note:
- All site rules apply to this activity.
- You must NOT RP causing physical injuries to another character.
- All fencing rules must be followed.
- Each deadline shall last for 3 days (72 hrs).
- There shall be no use of magic in this activity.
- The points earned through this activity will NOT affect your actual stats.
