Pocket Arjans

When: 1st August 2026 | Where: PR Offices, Canary Wharf
“It’s a what?” Arjan said as he blinked, staring at the item in his palm. It stood about four inches tall, with a comically large head that bobbled around. “A bobblehead, sir,” The guy nervously sitting near him repeated. The first time he had brought the item out to display, he was full of confidence and boldness. Yet this time, his voice was much more meek as it was starting to dawn on him that the rich pureblood had very little concept of what this toy was or why. Why was the head so much bigger than the rest of the body? It was… weird. This was a thing that people liked? Arjan highly doubted it. No normal person wanted something so odd, right? If anything, they wanted a very manly and masculine life size cut out of him in all of glory. Not a strange looking toy where his head was bigger than the rest of him.
“What… does it do?” The Athlete asked slowly as he poked the head with a finger. It was rather… well, it looked a bit like him but of course, his head was not nearly as big as the figurine’s head! (Physically, at least. Metaphorically, it was clearly much larger but perhaps that was what made the whole time rather comical). The bobblehead was wearing the same uniform as he did during his competitions, though, so perhaps it was supposed to be him.
The guy started to sweat buckets, worried his job was on the line. No one wanted to face the athlete’s anger - and let’s be honest, he was not known to be a rational or reasonable or even remotely patient man. The hotheaded athlete had earned a reputation amongst the PR team, one that painted him as a demanding and fussy man.
“Uh, well, it’s urm, a figurine. It doesn’t really do much… It uh bobbles, I guess…But! People love to collect them! They love collecting bobbleheads of characters or animals or really, anything they love! We were thinking, maybe we could do a whole range of them. Like The Arjan Oberoi bobblehead collection, make all the fans collect them, you know? Like uh, The Arjan Oberoi Santa bobblehead, the Arjan Oberoi Casual day out, and uh- like urm-” He stumbled for words after launching into a rapid pitch, trying really hard to sell the idea of this toy to the hothead.
He hated it. A figurine of him should have muscles for days and be much hotter than whatever this comically large head thing was. He was about to say as much when another voice cut through the air, “Oh my gosh, that’s amazing!!” His assistant whose name fails me but she is hot had entered into the room and immediately started to squeal at the sight of the toy, “I want this one. Wait, did you just say we can get a collection of them?” She said as she pointed to one of the designs on the paper before pausing and looking up with eyes of hope at Arjan.
Arjan smirked after a few moments of staring at her, mostly in shock by her reaction. She actually liked it? A whole range of figurines that looked a bit like him? You know, he would look pretty great with a santa hat. Could do some with different sport uniforms, maybe even a suit or wizard garbs. Perhaps add a broom to some. Yeah… he could see this. The idea quickly starting to grow. A monthly bobblehead, exclusively available for fans or followers of his magazine - The Oberoi - which was a publication that he was desperately trying to get famous too. His gaze fell onto the design that she had originally pointed at, it was shirtless. Of course it was. Yes, he could get behind that.
“Alright, I suppose…” He started not entirely convinced but he did appreciate the female’s enthusiasm on the concept. With that, his consent was sealed. Mostly because they knew that if he strongly opposed, he instantly would have let them know. An “alright” or “I suppose” was probably the best they would get out of him at this stage.
Within minutes, the chatter between the other two commenced, quickly discussing the idea in more detail and suggesting various different concepts. He zoned a lot of it out, in fairness but he started to lift some of the pages and eyed them up.
There were many different concepts on the page. Under the ‘seasonal’ options, there were different Halloween designs and Christmas themed ideas as well as other festivals - such as Diwali that had passed not too long ago. He flipped through them as he heard the female saying something about “definitely need one with a Santa hat”, which he could only smirk to as that was exactly what he thought. He did trust her opinion, at the very least, which was why he was backing this idea that he still found to be kind of ridiculous. “The head should be a bit smaller…” He suddenly blurted out, deciding that he really did not like the overly large head. His words were followed by a few agreements in the way of an “Of course, yes, definitely” and he continued to look through them.
“And we’re not calling them The Arjan Oberoi Bobblehead Collection or whatever nonsense that was,” He added, quickly, remembering the awful name that had been presented to him earlier as he read it on the top of one of the pages. Arjan could only shake his head in horror at that as he looked up to the pair. Surely he needed something better than that. Though this had to be their job, right?
The guy looked a bit nervous at that, causing Arjan to quirk an eyebrow, “You do have other ideas, right?” He asked sceptically as he watched the man starting to look a bit frantic. Arjan sighed and walked off to the side of the room, grabbing a water bottle that he opened and gulped down quickly as he tried to contain his anger. Was he not paying the PR team to come up with ideas? Why was he the one telling them it was terrible all the time…? But ‘Bobblehead’ was not a word that he wanted.
It was lazy! Sure, it was his idea to come up with the whole “The Arjan Oberoi” brand but that did not mean they could just put random words behind it and call it a name! And why would anyone want to be referred to as a “Bobblehead”?! That sounded like they were calling him stupid or something! Crushing the empty water bottle in his hand, he tossed it into the bin and turned his attention back to the room.
The meeting continued for about another thirty minutes, or rather it seemed to drag on for hours. He was not entirely sure why he was agreeing to this idea but as the meeting continued, it started to grow on him. The fans would definitely want some collectables of him and posters, whilst they were very cool and amazing - of course - were limited to the walls or easels people had. These figurines could be a good next step into the world. People could have them in their cars or on the shelves, they could take them to work or even have them float all around their houses.
Now that would be pretty cool… The Arjan Oberoi was really starting to grow on the idea. Maybe he needed his own collection of these figurines for his home. He could scatter them like floating candles around the ceiling - heck, he could even add them to the candles in his dining hall. Yes, then he could see his brilliantness all the time. Of course, he had plenty of mirrors already all over the home so seeing his brilliantness all the time was not the problem.
It helped that the hot female assistant he had hired was very big on them. Her fangirling over them for the entire meeting made him slightly more excited to launching this strange bobblehead collection. He would be sure to gift her one of each, signed of course. She was practically giddy for the full meeting over them and if she was this excited when she got to work with the real life person every single day, then he could only imagine how great it would be for his fans.
Yes, by the end of the meeting, he was fully on board with them and had picked out several designs, giving his opinion on what poses they could have, outfits they could wear and what accessories they could have in their hands. Of course, one of them was his new uniform with his broom but there was also an ‘everyday Arjan’ just to be as relatable as possible to the fans. Though, of course, it was hard to relate to perfection when you lacked it yourself but hey, he tried his best for his fans. Soon, there would be some seasonal ones too. Ah yes, this was all going to be pretty perfect.
Before long, he walked out the meeting pretty satisfied by the results and kind of looking forward to seeing the first designs of the Arjan Oberoi Bobblehead collection. The design process would take some time, of course, as it had to be perfect before prototypes were created. There was no room for error but he was anticipating that the product would be in stores at the start of the new Wizard Trials season. He could not help but grin at the idea and made his way over to the design studio to finalise his new uniform for the season. It had to be glorious, of course. He did like the original designs but it was always important to do something new and different to encourage fans to purchase merchandise and replicas more regularly. A training kit, an official kit and sometimes even a third or away kit. These things all just made more money.
At the end of the day, The Arjan Oberoi was not just a person. It was a brand and the brand needed to make money to continue its endeavours - such as launching a weekly magazine, which had been on the agenda for a while too. Being famous was simply natural for the man. He had fans since he was born and everyone either wanted to be him or be with him. It was clear that everyone envied the man or desired him and now, they could get more merchandise to showcase their love - whether it was public or secret affections.
Perhaps he ought to include a nice postcard or a small photo with each bobblehead. Ah yes, he could do little cards that people had to collect alongside them - kind of like chocolate frog cards. They could be random, in fact, so people were forced to swap or buy multiple to try and get their desired cards or it could be fixed so each bobblehead came with its own unique card that encouraged people to buy them all. Yes, this was all becoming perfect. Cards to go alongside the little figurines so all of his many fans - and yes, they were plenty of fans - could make a collection.
Pocket Arjans. That was what he would call them. A collection of Arjans that all of his fans could keep in their pocket, carrying him around with them as they would - of course - want to do. Pocket Arjans and Arjan Trading Cards… Yes, it would work well. He just needed to pitch the idea of the trading cards at the next meeting but that could easily be arranged with existing photographs he had already taken.
The League One Athlete smirked to himself as he caught his own reflection in the office window as he passed by the building and made his way over to the gym. It was time to do a bit more training before he could finish his work day. If nothing else, the man sure did enjoy working hard. In hindsight, today had gone pretty well.
