September first finally came. Locket had waited for it so long, ever since July when she received her Hogwarts acceptance letter. Every day she imagined how today would go, what she would wear and what she would bring. She packed her suitcase two weeks prior to today, that’s because she was so excited. Her friends asked where she was going, why she was leaving, but she couldn’t say. It was so hard not to tell them. I know they would’ve been as excited for me as I am, but I had to follow the rules of the school, I couldn’t say a word to them. Afterall, I wouldn’t want to be expelled even before attending it she thought.
The family came to London a few days ago. Locket had visited it before, but it was a long time ago, so neither she, nor her parents (her sister stayed in Newport since her school was also starting and she needed to prepare) knew the city very well. So they came to King’s Cross Station early to find their way around. Locket had received a ticket along with her letter, it had gilded details and it was so pretty. Now she was staring at it confused, trying to figure out what in the hell platform nine and three-quarters meant. The three of them stood between platform nine and platform ten. Her dad even asked a worker where the train that was going to Hogwarts was located, but the worker looked at him weird, and said such a thing didn’t exist. But then she saw it, something that her parents didn’t seem to notice. A family dressed in robes and owl cages on their trunks ran straight into the pillar separating the nine and ten platforms. The girl’s eyes widened in surprise when she saw them disappear one after the other through the wall. She tugged on her mother’s sleeve and pointed it out.
It didn’t take much convincing for Locket to run into the wall, but her parents, on the other hand, took longer to accept that they’d need to run into it. But finally when they agreed, since they didn’t want to let her go in alone, she charged into the wall first, at the last second closing her eyes out of fear. She didn’t feel a rough surface against her forehead, her nose didn’t seem broken, and her limbs didn’t hurt - That means I didn’t crash! She opened her eyes and saw that she was right, the wall in fact was a kind of portal into the magical world, into platform nine and three-quarters.
This side of King’s Cross station was bustling with action and colors, much more exciting than the muggle one. There were all kinds of animals lounging in their cages, or even freely wandering with their owners around, from cats, to owls and to weird puffy colorful balls that really caught Locket’s eye. People here wore colored and embroidered cloaks and robes, some even had pointy wizard hats, or were carrying their wands. The view in itself was magical, so she could only guess what would await her when she entered the school itself.
Mr and Mrs Tarot appeared from behind her. Their faces were long and pale, they seemed to be more scared to run into the wall than their daughter. But now they stood here along with her and she laughed at their scared expressions.
“C’mon, isn’t this magical?” Locket squealed and charged towards the train excited to board. Her father who carried her trunk sighed and followed after her, while her mother took another moment to calm down her breathing and followed them too.
Locket found an entrance to the train and stood near it as she turned to her dad. His expression was sceptical, perhaps for the reason that he didn’t like this whole magic thing in the first place (he was always so serious). She rolled her eyes sarcastically at him then hugged him tightly.
“I’ll miss you, dad,” she mumbled into his jacket as she buried her face in it. And she was being honest, I will miss him a lot. She never spent such a long time away from her parents and she could hardly imagine what it would be like. When her mom came and stopped next to them, she detached from dad and hugged her too.
“Oh, Locket,” her mom sighed, “write to us, okay? And please, use email, not Owl Post, or whatever it’s called…” Locket heard how fed up her mom was in the woman’s voice, with the owls that banged on the family’s window with their beaks for days before they finally let them in and read the letter that was tied to their ankle. Locket almost laughed at the genuine annoyance in mom’s voice, but the moment was too sad to manage a laugh.
Finally Locket pulled back and took her trunk.
“It’ll be okay, Locket,” her father said, stroking the top of her head.
“Give Clara my regards, and if any of my classmates or friends come by, tell them I’ll be back for Christmas,” Locket said, and when they nodded she turned walking to the train.
Inside it was already bustling with students who boarded the train. I guess the fact that we arrived early to the station didn’t change much since we still took forever to find platform nine and three-quarters. Now that the train would be leaving soon, so many students started getting onto it. Normally the girl would have found a compartment with some other students and introduced herself to them, perhaps made a few new friends, but saying goodbye to her parents was harder than she’d anticipated. She needed a moment to herself before she could talk to anyone. I need to gather my feelings and try not to cry. So, she found an empty compartment. She occupied it, boarded her trunk onto the racks that were hung overhead the seats, and sat down. As she looked out the window she found her parents in the crowd, and waved to them hoping they’d see her. Their eyes raked over the train perhaps looking for her, and finally when they saw their little girl in the window, they waved back. And with that, the train slowly halted and started moving.
The journey was beginning...

“Lauren! Luna is with you, right?”
Her mother’s voice cut through her thoughts, interrupting them.
“Yes, Mother!”
Lauren replied. She stole a quick glance at Luna, her pet bunny, before giving her a carrot to eat. Her bunny ate it happily. Lauren grabbed her trunk, and Luna’s cage before entering her car. It only took a few minutes to get to Kings Cross Station, as it was not that far from home.
Upon arriving, Lauren — holding her trunk and Luna’s cage — ran to the wall in between Platforms 9 and 10. She held her breath and ran through the walls. She thought she was used to the feeling already but still… She waved a goodbye to her parents and entered The Hogwarts Express. She glanced around, looking for an empty compartment, but could not find one. Lauren settled on a compartment with a first year inside.
Oh… Should I ask her? I dunno really…
She decided to ask anyway.
“H-hello… D-Would you mind if I sat here?”
Lauren said shyly. She was not one to be bold and be able to just suddenly talk to anyone — even first years.
There! I said it… Hopefully I did not sound weird…

Sad goodbyes and new friends (?)

_____This second year of hers, Millie actually went back to Hogwarts early than last year because she attended Summer Camp. However since she forgot to bring something—let's just say this and that, doesn't matter if it was important or not—Millie must picked it up back home right after Summer Camp finished as she need to once again asked her parents to drove her back to King Cross' Station. Yes, Millie knew she was reckless because of that, that she reminds herself not to do that again next year although her Pa and Ma doesn't seems to mind that per se.
_____At least, she maintain to arrived in time to this non-existence platform after saying good bye to her parents and bring all the remaining belongings of her in bags, with Mr. Hobkin in her satchel. His head popped up when Millie sped up her pace to enter the train, just before the door behind her being closed and the train leave the station. She huffed, control her breath to normal, then begin to walked to find a compartment she can rest onto.
_____However even after she almost reach the tail of the train, Millie could only found an almost full compartment with students she didn't really know about. Realized that the door in front of her is the last compartment she didn't check yet, she have no other option but to go in there for the remaining journey. Then she open the door, finally heaved a relief sigh when she just saw two girls inside. One face she never seen before, while the other one is Wong who's from the same year and house as her although they both never really talked to each other before.
_____"Oh, hello there. I hope you don't mind me sitting here since I couldn't find any more vacant compartment for me," she said to the both girls, smiling sweetly as she just felt energized for some unknown reason.
_____Millie sat on the bench opposite the first-year girl, fan her face with her hand before she put the bag between her legs. She already lost her energy to stand back up just to put it on the appropriate place. Sensing different vibe from before, the ferret inside Millie's satchel popped his head back up, finding another faces that immediately looking at him too with the same curiosity as his on its round eyes. However, the owner doesn't realized that as she just finished tidying up her mess-up hair.
_____"Nice to see you, I'm Millie. Millie Ann," she introduced herself to the new face before her, then tilted her head to Lauren, just realizing she also bring her pet along. The only different from her is that bunny of hers is settled safely in its cage while Mr. Hobkin just smuggling himself either in Millie's satchel or her pocket somehow. "Hello, Wong. How was your summer holiday?"

As Locket sat tucked away safely in a little compartment of her own, it didn’t take long for someone to knock on the door. But she wasn’t sad about it, in fact she was quite pleased to have someone to chat to, maybe that’ll take away her mind from leaving home for a while.
In the door of the compartment she was a girl, she seemed about Locket's age or maybe a bit older. But the girl was petite and rather short, so she didn’t seem that old. The girl spoke with nervousness in her voice, perhaps even a bit shy, as she asked if she could join her in the compartment.
But Locket’s heart made a little jump at the thought of making a new friend and she immediately nodded excitedly. “I don’t mind at all! Please, make yourself comfortable.” Locket smiled warmly, hoping to ease a little bit of the girl’s shyness. She gathered her skirt that she was wearing to make place for the girl to sit wherever she wanted, either on the opposite or on the same side as her.
Just as they were making themselves comfortable another head peeked into the compartment of another girl. So many new faces! I can’t wait to start making friends! thought Locket, her mind now completely distracted from the previous melancholy of leaving her parents.
“Please, join us, that’d be lovely!” she said to the new comer girl. The girl looked to be also close to Locket’s age, but slightly older. She looked more confident than the first girl, and had a certain energy to her movements. She introduced herself as Millie Ann, looking at Locket (perhaps she already knew the other girl), and Locket made sure to commit that name to memory.
“Nice to meet you too! My name’s Locket Tarot,” Locket said excitedly, smiling from one cheek all the way to the other.
Millie then spoke to the other girl, addressing her as Wong, though Locket guessed that was a surname. She let the girl addressed as Wong respond then excitedly started asking her questions.
“I’m so excited to go to Hogwarts! Did you guys know you were witches? Is this your first time going to Hogwarts? What about that wall? Wasn’t it scary getting past it?” her mind went faster than her mouth did, I hope they want to make friends as much as I do! She thought while waiting for their response.

_____Listening how high-spirit the girl she highly assumed is a first-year sitting before her, Millie can't help but somewhat reminds it with her own first experience just a year back. The only difference is she was so nervous back then. Who knows if this junior had a same nervousness as her or she genuinely excited with all of this new life she will got into.
_____"It's already my second year in Hogwarts. Along with Wong too. So I assumed you are our junior this year? Welcome and enjoy your new life then!" Millie widen her smile just a little bit, started to wondering herself if she will seeing this girl more on the same common room or not. "And speaking of the first revealed with that owl of acceptance, no, I've never even thought had a sort of wizardy blood or anything until just recently I know my late great-grandpa was graduated from Hogwarts too."
_____Come to think of it again, how Tarot asked her sounds like she also have no expectations with her own true nature as a witch. So is she a muggle-born like her? Or maybe half but one of her parents never talked about it? She have a doubt to asked that so she rather answer another question about the seemingly that magical platform.
_____"Ah, you mean Platform 9¾? Well, yeah, honestly, it still a big mystery to me, and my parents' too. And I really am skeptical to go past it back then until I saw it myself another family just go through it without problem. Quite hilarious but also exciting too, if you asked me."
