It was a chilled autumn afternoon in the courtyard, the crisp air persuading Kennedy to pull her jacket tighter. In her hands she held a photograph of her little sister, her silly grin missing her two front teeth. The photo had come in the most recent letter from her family and it felt like treasured gold. It didn’t move like the normal wizarding photos, instead it stayed perfectly still, a sign of Kennedy’s muggle heritage. In the photo Mayah was in one of their mom’s old dresses, and it was 10 sizes too big but Mayah has always loved playing dress up. Kennedy had no doubt that her little sister would one day inherit their mother’s stunning appearance. All three of her siblings had the same dark hair from their mom, however Kennedy was the only one who had straight hair instead of curly. Robbie and Mayah had always taken after their mom with their loud confident personalities, but Kennedy was more reserved like their dad. Kennedy went to carefully place the picture into her bag when a stray wind caught her off guard, sweeping it right out of her hands. It was across the courtyard before she could process what had happened, and nestled itself in a low hanging tree branch. While it wasn’t too high up, Kennedy could already tell that her shorter stature would not be able to help her reach up. She glanced around searching for a potential solution.

Lily was outside today. She had been worrying about Colin after everything that had happened over the summer and she truly felt that she needed to be there for him. She hated what had been done, hated that she couldn’t always be there for him. As a sister, she would put everything aside to make sure he was okay. To make sure that he wasn’t sliding into depression or something. But he would also kill her if she put him first. If she stopped her studying and her homework to be there for him. And it killed her that she had to put education in front of her family. That just wasn’t her. Lily climbed up a tree to be alone, to not be bothered, to maybe just maybe have some peace. But alas! It was not to be. Because just as she was shutting her eyes, the footsteps of a person. Lily didn’t move but just listened. She cracked an eye open and saw that the girl had lost something to the wind. There was a photograph stuck in a lower branch. Lily carefully climbed down to get it and she glanced at the photo before looking at the girl. “Is this yours?” She asked, not in a particularly kind voice, but not in a mean voice either.
