We hear you have been sorted into Gryffindor House. A shameful display to say the least but what done is done, the qualites you possessed, I was not surprised in the slightest though your mother and I are not content in the slightest but enough of that for now. Do your studies, keep yourself to yourself and remember what you came here for, we hope to see you soon over the Christmas break, yes? Try not to involve yourself too much with the other youth, you know how reckless kids can be sometimes and we know you are far better. Don't be like your brother, I still am surprised at how he managed to get past the seventh year. Hogwarts is a place of potential, do try not to waste it and do remember, we do have high hopes for you. Bring pride to your surname. I expect an owl back in 2 week's time.

To my loving parents,
I am quite happy here at the school and do fully intend on seeing you over the break, Father. I understand that perhaps you are not pleased about my House but as you both told me yourself, the Hat is absolute in it's final choices so I am sticking by that. It has been quite an experience here and I know you told me to generally avoid mingling too much but I have found myself in the presence of various friendly and warm people who are good-hearted so perhaps there is some benefit that can arise from that? Academics are going well, my favorite subject so far is leaning towards Defense Against The Dark Arts though this should come as no surprise for you. I hope to see you and Mother over the break, do not worry, I still have the dear gift you gave me at the start of the school year. I wish you all a very early Christmas and say hi to Darren for me, will you?

Apologies for the extremely late response but our work has us extremely tied up as you well know, I am sure. Suffice to say, me and your mother are not pleased in the slightest that you chose the option to remain at the castle for the Christmas break. We even had presents wrapped and ready for the lot of you. Darren was looking for you and it hurt us to say where you where. All that aside, we expect your studies are going well, yes? Remember, Elena, too much interaction can wind you up in hot water. Guard yourself well. Protect our honor with all cost. You know what I mean.
