Fawkes was attending it for the first time ever. Truth be told she was a bit nervous. She didn't exactly want to go to the camp alone. Perhaps that's why she was so happy when her cousin owled her saying he would be joining summer camp as well. It gave her this sense of relief that she would know somebody there for sure.
As she made her way to where her cabin was, her mind went over the list of people. She had signed herself up for the magical law enforcement cabin. Why? Well she wanted to be an auror didn't she? Might as well start learning more about the work environment early. She wasn't all that unfamiliar with her group thankfully. For one, her own cousin was with her in the same cabin. Other than that, She knew Julia. Both of them being Ravenclaws and in the same year meant they had interacted a bunch together. Fawkes only knew Skylar as one of Mikaela's friends. She hadn't really interacted with the girl prior to this.
Dido was someone she had been briefly introduced to by Tina when she had attended Angel's birthday party back in June. Other than that, while she was sure she had seen the girl around the place they weren't really acquainted beyond that. As for the other two names, Fawkes presumed they may have been from the international schools. The surname Corbeau was oddly familiar tho. Not that she recognised it, but she could tell it was French. Did Raphael perhaps know who it was? Highly doubtful. That boy barely left the comfort of his lab and home most days.
She opened the door into her cabin and looked around with awe. She loved the fact it was blue. Well not just because she was a Ravenclaw but blue had been her favourite colour for years. It just made her feel calm and happy.
She glanced over wondering what to do next. Might as well just explore the area. She walked in and out of the rooms trying to debate which one to take. She would have to share one with someone. Hopefully after a discussion with everyone else in the cabin she would get someone she could easily get along with. Not that she didn't normally get along with people, there was just a difference between getting alone with someone and sharing a room with them.
She made her way back to the common area and sat on one of the armchairs just waiting for the others to arrive. Her eyes kept darting between the door and the photographs on the wall. She did wonder when her cousin would arrive, he had owled saying he would be late but oh well. Nothing to do but wait now.

OOC note: Reducio1) I've just realised I can finally get rid of my "Dido's internal narrator is a big liar dw" disclaimer now!
Summer camp had really been the only option for the rest of Dido’s summer.
Since her mothers had… since they.. since Uncle Thomas had passed on the news, Dido hadn’t been able to even hold a conversation with Mama without seeing her eyes tear up and nose redden. It wasn’t… nice to see your own mother cry about what you were. When Dido had suggested the camp, her parents had been quick to agree. They didn’t even want to look at her. That was why they let her go so easily.
But Dido was going to have a fun summer, even no one else wanted her to.
When she arrived at the camp, she was pleasantly surprised by the theming- sure, she had signed up to a cabin and had vaguely recognised the ministry-esque name but, listening to both her own and her mother’s choking sobs had slightly limited her ability to pay attention to what she was actually signing up for. Following the largest crowd of children, for they were surely also headed for the cabins at the top of the list, she pushed her way into the centre of the mass, merging into the small horde.
As the crowd slowly thinned out, small throngs of students a variety of ages splitting off to find their own cabins. Dido listened carefully as each group discussed where they were heading and, finally hearing a title she recognised, she followed a few metres behind. As she walked, staring at the back of one of the boys in front, she suddenly froze in place. A thought flashed through her mind as she stood in place: a dark braid and blue robes. No. It wasn’t about her. She swallowed down her… fear, anger, that strange cloying sensation that had been with her all summer. Taking a deep breath in, Dido looked around, dismayed to see she had been left alone.
Wandering around for a few moments, she finally found herself in front of a seemingly empty cabin into which no one had gone and, praying that it was the right place, she hefted her bag up onto her back and heaved it in through the door.
It was blue.
To the side, there was a crackling fire, somehow not too hot despite the summer’s intensity that year. Around the fire several leather armchairs were set out and, across the walls, shelves spanned the length of the room, each filled to the brim with books, files and trophy cabinets. It could have been Dido’s dream for those previous few months. A perfect space for a perfect Ravenclaw.
Speaking of, as Dido scanned the room, dread evident in the dull cast to her eyes, her gaze landed upon a girl she recognised, sitting in one of the armchairs. One of Tina’s friends. The girl with the blue glasses and pretty eyes. Once again, Dido stood still for a moment, one Ravenclaw’s dark and wavy hair reminiscent of another’s. Then, without so much as a second glance at the girl, Dido walked straight through the common area and into one of the bedrooms.
To her dismay, she realised that it had two beds and, quickly poking her head into each room, confirmed that all of them had two. With a slightly sheepish expression, Dido left the final room she had checked and placed her bags down on the wooden flooring in the common area, anxious to leave herself a choice of roommates. Unwilling- unable- to force herself to go near the books on the shelves, Dido instead took a seat in one of the armchairs by the fire and glanced again at the girl.
“Excited?” she asked finally, desperate to start the conversation safely, keeping the girl from asking anything abou- any questions.
