It was late evening, the atmosphere high up in the astronomy tower was quiet and peaceful, as everyone was minding their own business, doing the tasks, that the Professor had given. Clark sat a bit aside from the other students, his astronomy book laid open infront of him, while he already had spread several sheets of parchment infront of it. While the professor kept explaining specific things that were important towards the topic they were meant to study. Clark was actively writing down notes, he thought would be important for his rehearsel session in the library.
He was so focussed on the task that was given them, he didnโt even notice the next words, that left the professorโs mouth, until he heared the chalk scrape against the board, in the middle of the Classroom. The constant scraping made him look up, and his gaze landed on the big bold letters written on the board: โGroup workโ. Clarkโs brain, normally so fast, took a few seconds to realise what was now coming.
For not knowing what to do, he just stared right back down onto his half finished sentence, written in his neatly handwriting.
It was not like, that Clark disliked People entirely. He was just happy when noone disturbed him, when brainstorming, or misplaced the notes he arranged. That also counted for turning every good felt silence into a conversation. All those factors were just disdurbing his neatly constructed routine. Alone he could just focus on the task from the start till the end, without having to explain or share his thoughts with anyone else.
While starring down at his parchment, he listened to pair after pair was assigned. He didnโt look up, and let his gaze wander over each formed pair, but he could hear some of the other students laughing, and letting out noises of contentment. So they must be pleased with whoever they have gotten sorted with.
While listening, his fingers had moved to his rings again, turning them slowly, while he waited for him to get paired up.
Than after some minutes of waiting, finally Clark heared his name got called out, along with the name of another boy: Juah Koskela.
Clarkโs gaze lifted immediately, his eyes wandering around, trying to make out the boy, that the name belonged to. He recognised Juah vaguely. They share a few classes with eachother, but Clark couldnโt remember to ever had a conversation with him before. Juah probably felt the same.
So this would be new for both of them.

Astronomy group work
@Clark Stellan
For the last hours, Juah had already been drifting somewhere between alien life, the insignificance of humanity if the universe truly was that vast, and the fact that perhaps half the stars in the night sky were long dead. Normally, Astronomy was his favourite class to attend. Barely any other subject sparked his interest this much, speaking directly to his soul. But today, it made him rethink the purpose of his entire existence. Though, since failing Astronomy was the last thing on his mind, he forced his eyes to keep track of what the professor was writing with chalk while his ears tried the very best to get his brain to process the words coming from the mouth.
Group work. Wasn't that perfect timing? Not only had he barely been paying attention to the topic, but now he had to drag an innocent person down with him that would have to deal with the consequences. They'd surely be thrilled to be working with him. Looking at it from the bright side, Juah knew more than enough regarding astronomy, so a very short briefing should be enough to make him able to contribute at least a little.
He ran a hand through his hair before looking around to spot his assigned partner. Clark Stellan. The name had a nice phonetic ring to it. Juah had somewhat heard of him, certainly had seen him before, but he didn't know him properly enough to have more than a face and the adjective 'quiet' associated with him. Had he even ever said Hello to him? Well, there was a first time for everything. Once he recognized the boy by his brown hair with the orange undertone, he walked over, standing in front of him.
"Hi. Clark, right?" Juah tried to smile at him, hoping it would break the ice a little, looking at the notes Clark had taken. At least one of them was prepared, which, on second thought, might make it more awkward for both of them. "Neat handwriting. Mine looks like a curse. Sometimes not even I manage to decipher it. I hope you don't mind." Careful about not making too much of a noise, Juah pulled out a chair and sat down next to him. "Honestly, I kind of...," he let out an awkward, quiet laugh of embarassment, "failed to pay attention. The things possibly hiding up there in the sky made my mind wander straight out of the classroom."
