xx 𝕷The grief was consuming. It devoured every ounce of strength Avery had. It was hard to deal with. To conquer the demons that were within her now that her grandfather had passed away. Alone, she would not be able to bear it, but she was not alone. She had Jesus Christ, her savior, by her side. Standing alongside her and holding her hand as the storm raged within her. He was her rock and her foundation that would never crumble. That was why Avery had chosen that day to spend time in the library and swallow herself within the Bible. God's holy word. She knew it would be the only thing to make her feel better as the grief threatened to pull her under again.
The scent of old books and dust clung to the air of the library. Spoken words only but a whisper. Perfect. It was the perfect place to find peace and envelope herself in love. The love of God. That was what she needed above all else in that moment.
Sitting down in a quiet corner of the room, Avery began to read. She read that day from the book of Job where Job spoke of his own never-ending grief and how his close friends stuck by his side as he faced it. Avery felt herself relax reading this passage. It was good to know that she was not alone in this storm raging on around her. She was so focused on her book that she did not notice the girl standing and watching.xx

This is my Truth

Kenndy was tired. Her social battery completely drained from everything that week. She’d survived yet another round of bullying, and reassuring her friends she was fine. She’d had loads of homework but didn’t quite have the energy to do any of it. All she wanted to do was curl up in the library with a good book.Kennedy Cheek | Library | @Avery Gray | WC: 230
She walked up and down the shelves, looking for anything that sparked her interest, but nothing provoked a second glance. It was honestly frustrating, Kennedy felt as though she wished for something so small and even that couldn’t be granted. She grabbed a random book off the shelf, determined to enjoy a little time to herself. She sat down at a table and read the first few pages, and to her dislike, she discovered she’d picked up "Quidditch Through The Ages” which was a subject she had little to no interest in.
She placed the book back on the shelf, making sure it went back in the exact spot she had taken it from. Kennedy wandered around the library a little more, desperate to put off her homework a little longer.
Her wanderings took her to a quiet corner where a girl older than her sat, probably a 3rd or 4th year. She was reading a large book with small writing. Kennedy hovered unnoticed, glancing over the girl’s shoulder, curious what it was?

xx 𝕷The girl was still staring at the lioness. Avery smiled a weak smile. This was different. New. For some reason, the girl drew Avery in. It was something about the look in her eyes. Was that curiosity? Or was it something different? Something that lay deeper beneath the surface?
"Hey. Are you interested in this book? I don't mind having a chat about it if you'd like." Avery beckoned the girl over to where she sat. Maybe she could finally show the truth to someone and make herself feel less like a nobody and more like she belonged? Yes. That would be it. She would finally be useful for something for once. And that thought alone pushed her to speak up.
As Avery awaited the girl, she turned back to her reading for only a moment. Reading in Job had calmed her. Like God was speaking to her through the words she read on the page. The lioness had heard of that happening to people, but this was her first interaction with it. It was honestly life changing. The peace that came over her was like a soft but warm blanket. A safety net for if her broken heart was broken all over again.xx
