WC:289 | Thoughts | Kennedy Cheek | @Isla Afton | Rehersal Room | September 18th
Kennedy arrived in the rehearsal room a half hour before everyone else from the Hogwarts Choir was set to come. As always she spared a glance up toward the silver birds perched on the chandelier, and since no one else was watching, she blew them a little kiss. The curtains were closed over the portraits, which Kennedy was very thankful for. She didn’t need them to watch her as she set up and moved chairs. She also didn’t want them to be disappointed when she didn’t give them a performance
In her hands she held pages of paper she had spent hours copying, welcome letters for everyone. The choir had met once last term but this was going to be their first meeting this term. And the first meeting where they started singing. The thought sent a tremor through Kennedy’s body. It was something she’d been trying not to think too much about since starting the choir. Kennedy loved singing with every bone in her being. She wouldn’t tell anyone this, but to her it felt like flying. However, she didn’t sing in front of other people, she didn’t even know if she could sing if anyone else was watching. But now she had put herself in a position where it was unavoidable, she had to be a leader. The word sent another tremor through her, and she dropped the welcome pages in her hand. They scattered among the floor and she kneeled down to pick them up, her hands shaking. Stop, She tried to tell herself. Today has to be perfect. You can’t afford to screw this up. You can’t screw this up. But the firm command didn’t work, in fact it seemed to only increase her anxiety.
