Dhampir History:
Dhampir History:
Raphael always knew about his Dhampir heritage. It wasn't ever a grand secret that had to be kept hidden from him. His father was very open about the fact he himself was a dhampir so Raphael never made an effort to hide it himself except from people outside his family. In fact when his parents realised he was a Dhampir his father was so proud that he hosted a banquet for him.
It all started with Raphael's paternal grandmother Lucie. The french woman was one of the most beautiful women of her time well according to his grandfather Henry she was. That beauty is what had captivated him in the first place. The pureblood heir fell in love with the vampire and the two married barely a year later despite the fact he was arranged to marry another very wealthy pureblood woman and his family protested his marriage to Lucie heavily. He claimed that he was madly in love and nothing could stop him. They got into a heated argument over it since his family only cared about the wealth. It was resolved when Lucie revealed the fact she had generational wealth as well. Upon hearing about it his family let him marry her.
Henry did not know about Lucie being a vampire until they had their first and only child Lucien. After years of not being able to conceive, Lucien was quite literally their miracle. As Lucien grew up, Henry began to notice the little things in Lucien and now especially Lucie which he hadn't seen before. He saw how Lucie couldn't bear going out in the sun while Lucien would get extremely bad rashes if he did. At first he thought it was because of the fact they were naturally incredibly pale so they got sun burnt easily. But after Lucien lost his first tooth did Henry learn about the fact Lucie was a vampire and by proxy his one and only son was a dhampir. He was devastated. Not by the fact they weren't human but because he had been lied to. Unable to bare living with them any longer, he ran away and no one was able to find him.
That left Lucie alone to raise Lucien. He was accepted into Beauxbatons but had to hide his vampiric features. He eventually graduated and went to England to study to become lawyer. It is there he met Emma. The two eventually fell in love and got married where they had four children. Charmeine, Raphael, Gabriel and Hecate. Lucien, not wanting to make the same mistake as his mother, told Emma about his dhampir heritage before they got married. Luckily she accepted him. Her family wasn't so accepting however. Some of them did while some shunned him for it. However he didn't care. So long as his Emma accepted him.
Raphael was born incredibly pale. Much paler than his father or older sister. The doctors were concerned about his health. However after a few months of tests and monitoring they found out he was a dhampir. His father, overjoyed threw a banquet for him even though he was still an infant. Raphael's blood cravings were less than his sister's so he was usually fine with only one blood pop compared to his sister's 3. However he had much sharper teeth and accidently broke things around the house when he tried biting them for fun. He was much more sensitive to the sun not only from his dhampir lineage but also since he was a lot paler so he was sun burnt much much more often. He completely avoided going out during the day after a really bad burn when he was 8 unless he absolutely had to.
He overheard his parents being worried about his education since Koldovstoretz didn't allow dhampirs and hiding his features would be extremely hard since some of them were much more prominent than other dhampirs. However luckily for them, about a year before he was to start, Koldovstoretz stated that they would now admit dhampirs and other magical races as well. With that Raphael started his school year.

Backstory:
Backstory:
Raphael Samuel Jourdain was born on 24th October 2013 to Lucien and Emma Jourdain. He was their second child and first son. Lucien Jourdain is a lawyer. He had studied at Beauxbatons before going to England where he met Emma. He's a rather good lawyer and specializes in cases relating to half-breeds. Emma Jourdain on the other hand is a herbologist. Their garden at home was filled with numerous different plants and on the weekends, Emma would go to a local market to sell them
Raphael was born extremely pale to the point where the doctors were worried about his health. After months of constant monitoring and medication in the hospital it was discovered that he was a Dhampir. His father was overjoyed at the news and threw a banquet to celebrate it a few days after.
When Raphael was around a year old, his parents noticed that he would not look in their direction when they spoke. While it was common for babies to do this occasionally, unless they were right in front of his face he wouldn't look at them. Concerned, he was once again taken to another doctor.
The doctor ran a multitude of tests on the 1 year old child and they found that Raphael was deaf. They concluded there may have been complications during the pregnancy or it was a genetic mutation that caused it since there was no history of deaf people in their family.
His parents tried everything but there was nothing they could do short of a surgery which he was much too young for. They had to learn to adapt.
Since Raphael was born deaf, he struggled to communicate. His vocabulary when it came to speaking was extremely limited, some of the few words he could speak being along the lines of mama and papa since those were simple sounds.
When he turned 6 his parents got a sign language tutor. His tutor taught him how to communicate through sign language and he was happy. Happy he could finally get his thoughts out. Happy he could finally talk to other people. That happiness was short lived as he soon learnt that not everyone could understand the language or sign back to him. He hated it. He began to grow distant towards others. Cause to him, what was the point of making friendships if no one could understand him.
Family ties: The only people he truly stayed close to was his family. His parents learnt sign language so they could communicate with him while they ensured his siblings also learnt. Along with his siblings were also his cousins. Well the ones he was on good terms with anyways. He was closest to his cousin Fawkes. They were the same age and practically grew up as twins more than cousins. She seemed to be able to understand him more than the others. She was also the first of his cousins to learn sign language with him.
ReducioHow they are related: Raphael's mother Emma is the sister of Fawkes' father Evan.
Raphael instead of making friends with humans turned his attention to animals instead. He couldn't go out during the day without multiple layers on so instead he would spend his nights outdoors with the nocturnal animals. The owls were his favourites. They would fly near him and even let him hold them. With the animals he felt understood. He didn't need to hear them to understand them. He felt right at home with them.
When Raphael was 7, his father had to be transferred over to China for work. His family moved over to Beijing and stayed there for a couple of years. It was during this time, Raphael experienced his first instance of magic.
After his 8th birthday, his parents began to realise. If Raphael couldn't speak, he wouldn't be able to cast magic. By this point his accidental magic had made a show numerous times so it was clear he had magic in his veins however if he couldn't speak he wouldn't be able to use a wand. They looked for a tutor to try and teach him to speak at least a couple of basic spells. It took almost 2 years but thankfully his tutor was able to teach him not only how to speak the incantations of basic spells but also a few more words as well.
While Raphael still struggled greatly in day-to-day speaking, he had perfected his spell pronunciations and would practice them daily. It was draining and he needed someone to be with him when he practiced since he couldn't hear himself. His youngest sister was usually dragged into doing this for him.
Another skill he had picked up was lip reading. He wasn't the best at it and he couldn't understand if someone was speaking incredibly fast however whatever little he could understand allowed him to have some conversation with people who didn't know sign. He couldn't respond using his voice most of the time but it was still better than not responding at all.
Despite all of his struggles he was still a bright child. He learned how to read and write in both French and English even if he couldn't speak them. He also learned about the various plants and herbs there were from his mother. He was easily able to distinguish them from one another and even learnt how to make basic pastes with them to heal minor cuts and wounds.
He was taken for balls with his parents a couple of times. Even though he didn't interact with people he was considered incredibly beautiful. His uncaring demeanour also made him more intriguing and mysterious. Many girls would constantly come up to him asking for dances. He couldn't hear them but he understood what was happening. He rejected all of them instead opting to drag his elder sister to dance with him to make them jealous.
Raphael didn't like people but he was still a kind soul. Just to animals. His parents hoped that going to school would help him open up more.
After he started his first year in Koldov, his parents decided to move back to France. However, Raphael preferred to stay in China. The amount of medicinal herbs he could learn about was extraordinary and that curiosity made him have the decision to remain in Beijing with his aunt Phoebe and his uncle Theodore. Not to mention, the fact Koldov was in Russia opened up even more worlds of opportunity to study more herbs.
He spends his summer vacations in France with the rest of his family but is otherwise in Beijing for the remainder of the year when he's not in Koldov.

FIOM: Raphael was around 7 when he experienced his first instance of magic. His mother had brought some dried up herbs from the garden into the house. Raphael being curious as to what it was, picked it up thinking they were flowers. He frowned. These were not the vibrant flowers that were in the garden. Saddened he was about to drop them when they began to turn into small flowers in his hand. Excitedly he showed his mother who also got excited realising his magic was making itself known. She picked up the flowers and put them down before going to give Raphael a hug. A few seconds later the flowers had returned to the orignal dried herbs. Raphael touched it again hoping it would become flowers again but it didn't.
