Nancy Todd | First year | Slytherin
Physical Description: The first thing you’re likely to notice about Nancy is her fiery ginger hair. It’s curly and often left free, falling below her shoulders. Her face is oval-shaped and often holds a troubled look or a snarky smile. Her eyes are a mix of blue and green. She has a long, straight nose. Her lips have a natural red tint. She has high cheekbones. She is tall for her age and slim. People often note that she has broad shoulders. She dresses in colors as vibrant as her hair – greens, purples, reds.

Mental Description: Nancy is a silent bomb. She seems very put together, sometimes even cold, and generally not very outgoing or eager. She keeps to herself and watches everything from the sidelines. She would make a great spy. But when she needs to, she has a wild side. To protect her peace, she will go to great lengths. This trait has made her many enemies and will probably make many more. She tends to get absorbed in topics that interest her. She wants to get to the bottom of things and has lost many nights of sleep because of it. She is a lone wolf. She does not get attached.

Biography: Nancy grew up with a single mother and never knew her father. When she was very little, she made a promise to herself that one day she would become so well known that her father, no matter where he was, would know her name.
Nancy had an older sister and a mother. The three of them lived in a cramped two-bedroom apartment in London. Her mom worked two jobs: high school English teacher and waitress. She had to keep up with their bills. Her sister was two years older, and by the time Nancy was five she was already in elementary school. Nancy went to Muggle kindergarten and elementary school. She was a good student, but nothing extraordinary. She was good at languages but struggled with sciences.
In her free time, Nancy went out a lot. With her occasional allowance, she would go to prestigious cafes just to order a cup of tea. She would sit there for hours, listening in on the conversations of wealthy people. She found out a lot of things she was never supposed to. But she also told herself that she was learning for the future – when she would be one of them.
The Hogwarts letter came as a surprise to Nancy, since her sister had not received one. The matter was overlooked until a representative of the school arrived and confirmed her acceptance.

First Instance of Magic: It happened when Nancy was eight years old. She was walking home from school when a boy rode past on a bike. The bike’s wheels splashed her with water from a puddle, and she became very agitated. Suddenly, the boy’s bike, now a few meters ahead, jolted to a stop out of nowhere and threw him out of his seat. He fell onto the concrete. As she passed him, the only thing Nancy noticed from the fall was a bloody nose and a few scratches on his arms. She walked by without saying anything.
