The Great Lake
Bella Hills and Vales Minter
A light dusting of snow covered the ground, covered in footprints from students that had been around the lake earlier in the day. The cold winter wind blew around the grounds gently, sending shivers up the spines of those who were brave enough to venture outside without a jacket. As the sun started to break through the grey snow clouds, a little girl that was bundelled up in multiple layers of clothing was making her way down to the icy water.
Once again, the young Isabella Hills found herself making her way down to the icy cold of the Great Lake. The Lake had become sort of a refuge for her over the year and almost a half she had been at Hogwarts. Seeking privacy and silence, the Lake offered that to her.
And now, even in the midst of winter, she was there. Wrapped up in two muggle sweaters, long pants, three pairs of socks, mittens, a warm hat, winter boots, her school robes and her school jacket, she was hardly feeling the cold.
The reason she had felt the need to come down to the lake, was the sudden remembering of her younger, and now only, siblings birthday. It seemed to of slipped her mind admits her studies, and she had nothing to give her. She hadn’t even sent an owl wishing her a Happy Birthday.
But, at the back her of mind, she knew her sister didn’t care that she hadn’t received anything from her older sister. Isabella knew she had gotten used to being ignored and hated by the oldest Hills child in her 9 years of life. The simple fact was, Isabella blamed her for something she had no control over. Sometimes, that is the hardest thing to forgive.
And so, Isabella had chosen her pride over the love of her younger sibling.
The messy, ugly feeling of guilt washed over her and and her thoughts. Maybe, if she hadn’t been so stubborn, she might of been able to repair this broken relationship with her sister.
Sitting down in the snow, she trailed her glove covered hands through the snow, lost in thought as she stared out toward the icy lake - thinking about what a terrible sister she had become over the years. First in the role she played in the loss of her younger brothers life, and second in hate and coldness she directed at her younger sister.
Maybe, if she had actually tried to be a good sibling over the years - instead of focusing all her energy on becoming a good person - things might of been different between the Hills children.

Blood Sisters
The wind swirled around the Great Lake, picking up snowflakes and lifting them back up in the air. A rather small Ravenclaw girl was sitting by herself, a book in her lap. The girl was bundled up in a dark blue sweater underneath her robes, and a striped blue scarf. Her cheeks and nose were a rosy shade of pink, and from the amount of snowflakes in her hair, she had been out there for a while.
The book in Vales's lap was opened, but she wasn't paying even an ounce of attention to it. Winter reminded her of home, and the young girl wanted nothing more than to see her parents again. She didn't have many friends, as her shyness prevented her making anything more than a simple conversation. Usually, Vales was fine with this, but around Christmas time, she felt lonely. Everyone was gifting each other, presents being opened constantly, and people spending more time with close friends and family, and well, Vales didn't have anything of the sort.
So she came down to the lake. By the Great Lake, everything was calm, and Vales could almost forget about her friendlessness.
A sound pierced the silence of the lake, and Vales looked to where it was coming from. An older girl was walking towards the lake, and she looked rather upset. As solemn as Vales felt at the time, she always hated when others felt glum.
She noticed the girl sitting down, and in a spur of the moment decision, Vales stood up, closing the book lightly. She walked rather quietly, but loud enough so she wouldn't scare the older girl. She was nervous, terribly so, as Vales was often afraid of people disliking her, but she swallowed that fear down, instead focusing on maybe making a new friend.
"Hello. Beautiful day outside, is it not?" she noted, pretending to be happy and cheerful, as she usually was around new people.

“You don't spend your life hanging around books without learning a thing or two.”

Blood Sisters

A voice from behind her made the second year jump, whipping her head around sharply as she did. She relaxed as she caught sight of who it was - just a girl who couldn’t be any older than her.
Dusting the cold snow off her behind, she stood up and turned to face the newbie. “It is, isn’t it? It would of been nicer if snow wasn’t so cold - or wet for that matter.” The snow had melted as she had been sitting down, and a wet patch had been left on her school robes. The small, cold breaths of wind sent an icy feeling through the Slytherins body - starting at her bottom and going all the way to her head.
Trying to shrug the coldness away, she stuck out her hand for the new girl to shake. “I’m Isabella, Isabella Hills. Second year, Slytherin. Everyone’s calls me Bella though, Isabella only gets used when I’m in trouble.”
Turning around to face the lake again, she sat down in the snow on end more. Nevermind that her body - particularly her bottom - was going numb as she sat in the blanket of snow that covered the grounds. Patting the ground beside her, she indicated for the newcomer to sign down next to her - brushing some of the snow away as she did.
Putting a smile on that couldn’t feel anymore fake, Isabella tried to force the thoughts of her siblings out of her mind. “So what brings you down to the lake today? I don’t know know many people who’d come out in this snow.”
