A Platform Between Worlds
First thing she realized was the sound.
It was full of energy like nothing she had ever seen before. Massive plumes of thick, white steam puffed from the Hogwarts Express, which gleamed scarlet red against the gray September sky. Owls squawked in cages above, cats darted around trunks, and talk filled the air in excited chatter. The students, all wearing new robes, passed by in a rush, some of them laughing joyfully with old friends and other kids hanging onto their parents' robes tightly, unwilling to leave them.
She could not tear her eyes away from everything.
For as long as she could remember, Hogwarts had only been the subject of bedtime stories, the pictures stored in family albums, and the textbooks that were once used by her grandparents or great-grandparents. It was real now. All the sights, sounds, and smells were drawing her further into the world she had been dreaming of all her life.
There was a part of her that wished to remember it all.
The shiny brass plates with names on the trains. The hint of coal smell hanging in the air. The way witches and wizards conversed with each other with such ease.
Soon, it would be her own.
She held on tight to her trunk while Nyx moved around quietly in the cage. She looked around the platform noticing how older students were meeting with their friends. They looked so confident, proud of their house colors. She couldn't stop thinking where she would find her place in just a couple of hours.
She was not afraid.
Actually, she was impatient.
So many things were waiting for her beyond those train doors. Magic that she could read about in books, professors that she knew about from stories and castle which she was dreaming about since she became aware of Hogwarts. The most important thing for her was to prove herself and to learn.
Right before she was about to board, her father placed a hand on her shoulder.
"We're already proud of you."
She smiled at him, even though she doubted he knew the significance behind his words.
"Thanks, Dad. I'll miss both of you."
Her parents hugged her one last time, and she took a moment to bask in the familiar scent before breaking away. She stayed for a few seconds and then waved her goodbyes.
"I'll send you a letter soon."
As she said those words, she turned back to board the train without any further glance backwards.
What happens next will be the start of her story.

A Platform Between Worlds
Kyrie was so nervous about leaving home to finally start Hogwarts as she didn't want to leave her little brother Amer since he is so little and her mom needs help looking after him. She wasn't paying much attention to everything that was going on around the platform, because she was lost in thought. That is until she felt a large hand land on her head snapping her out of her thoughts. "Nervous about starting school?" Her dad said smiling with pride, which made her grin. "Not really, more worried about how you, mom and Amer will ne while I'm gone." She said honestly earning a pat on the head. "We'll be fine, you just focus on everything going on at your new school. Hogwarts is amazing from what I was told." He said as her mom nods a bit. "It's time you live your own life outside of the family kiddo, we will manage." She said handing a squirming toddler to her husband. Kyrie sighs slightly before hugging her parents and younger brother who was looking confused now. "You be a good boy while big sis is away for school, okay little buddy?" Kyrie said to her little brother before giving him a hug and a kiss on the head. "I'll be sure to write when I can." She told them before getting on the train. She waved goodbye to her family and going to try to find a place to sit.
