History
Ambrose Leopold Donnovan was born into a pure-blood wizarding family. Like any other family that obsessively kept its blood free of muggle heritage, his relatives were obsessive in other parts of life as well. Chief among these was work. After dynasties of hard toil, and perhaps a hint of the proceeds of crime — though those are only the supposed rumours — the Donnovans had amassed a fortune that would last for generations, without the need for them ever to work again. However, his parents were undeniable workaholics, creatives too passionate about their craft ever to take a break from it or accept that they had already secured themselves deep pockets that would last for ages.
His parents were rarely present in his childhood, too busy with their work. He was surrounded instead by maids and governesses, professors and coaches, who tried their very best to make him a commendable young man and failed spectacularly, because a child like Ambrose was far beyond their help. Despite the teachings and lessons that had been planned from the moment Ambrose first uttered a word or showed any understanding of the world, all the way up to his seventeenth birthday, he still spent most of his individual time with books. As if the hours he spent every day at a desk in the library were not enough, he developed a deep appreciation for arrogantly intricate literature, the sort of curiosities that drew disgusted grimaces or averted gazes from others. Whenever he discovered something of that kind, he would venture into it head first. Before long, the residence’s library became the boy’s sanctuary.
He was always certain of his future at Hogwarts, even though it was not confirmed until he received his letter. As in many other situations in his life, he believed events would turn out in his favour. He longed for the time when he could withdraw from society under the pretext of earning good grades, and completely submerge himself in knowledge.

Physical description
Ambrose is a dreamy-looking kid, he often seems as if he is not fully present. His attention wavers as easily as leaves fluttered by the wind, and his eyes wander as if searching for something more intriguing than the conversation at hand, whoever it might be with. He has long limbs and a tall, lanky build that makes him stand out quite a bit among children his age. His head is literally in the clouds, as he is taller than most of his peers. The boy possesses round brown eyes, reminiscent of a doe’s. They are often clueless, not in a dull way, but in the way dreamers like him are — neither here, nor there. His overall features are soft, in a boyish way. His most prominent feature, though, is his thick, curly hair. It is dark as tar and reaches below his jawline, to about halfway down his shoulder blades. Among his curls he likes to close himself away from the real world and wrap himself in darkness and softness. They often fall over his eyes, though his view of the world is not vital to him anyway.

Mental description
At first glance, he might seem sweet, even vulnerable to the happenings of those around him, but beyond first impressions he is much more capable than that. When he is out of his sheep’s costume, his wolf’s teeth are sharper than anyone’s. He is quite intelligent, intelligent enough to use his knowledge to his advantage, morally or not. He can become manipulative, very consciously so. He has a way of getting the things he wants. In part, it is thanks to his appearance, which can seem unsuspecting. However, because he is never really social, this only works to his advantage on the rare occasions when he decides to grace people with his presence or attention. When he is not breaking moral boundaries or making the psychological lives of those around him miserable, he is most likely spending time by himself, whether wandering around the woods surrounding his family’s residence or hungrily consuming morbid books in the corner of his shadowy room. He is quite a melancholic and lonely eleven-year-old boy, though he would never care to admit it, and he will do anything to keep everyone else away from gnawing at that insecure part of himself.

First instance of magic
His first instance of magic happened when he was nine years old, at the Donnovan residence in London. One night he had been watching the woods outside their house in the middle of the night because he was restless. He heard a maid approach the room. He was disappointed, mentally preparing himself for a hushed scolding and a bitter sleep later that night, but when she opened the door she seemed not to notice his silhouette lounging on the windowsill, looking over the estate. When he looked at his reflection in the window, he swore it was missing. The maid left, going back, he guessed, to smoke in the kitchen and bad-mouth his family, probably assuming that the lump of sheets he had left in the bed was him.
