Okay he had…. a little too much - he admitted. And probably said verbally for the 52nd time. This was a particular stressful day that he had been dreading for weeks. But upon completing what he needed to, he felt an absolute wave of euphoria wash over him. He had not planned to stay more than 10 minutes in a bar, but one thing led to another, a dance here, a singing session there - Hanako was at this point a giggly mess. Messing up the floo powder transportation multiple times by saying something incorrectly though his slurred speech. Perhaps he might've asked Jack through telepathy. Did he? He couldn't remember. Finally though he reached Hogwarts!
No. Not hogwarts. It was the entrance to his 6 floor run down apartment in Wales. The wall light next to the door reflected a warm glow to Hanako's face. For someone that tended to be so tidy, he clearly didn't have all his witts together. His usually neat brushed hair had a few stray strands, his makeup now smudged, with a weariness to his eyes as if his vision wasn't stable.
Key .. key . key.. Oh now hold on a minute, he didn't need a key! This was the Ravenclaws entrance! (It was not). Oh goshh hahaha (He began laughing alone to absolutely no one). " LLiiisten heree doorrkunn IIIII donnt have der timmmee norr the energyy for yerrr ridddless. I dont knoww whwatt came firstt the chicken or the egggg just let me innn" he pointed to the door as if it had insulted him.

Waking up before the sun was not new to Wyatt. His routines were very much in order by now, though living in his own place meant little tweaks. They were for the better, mostly. He was able to get twenty more minutes of sleep because he no longer needed to set aside contingency time for showers being full or traffic on the walk to the great hall for breakfast. Not that he was a breakfast person, anyway. In his studio, the shower was always empty when he needed it, and the walk to the kitchen was short from even the farthest corner.
The flat wasn’t bad for its price. Having a snake as a pet helped with the critters, and though Wyatt tried not to use magic too much in the house since it messed with the lights, it came in handy for quick, reliable fixes. Wyatt stayed out of his neighbors’ business, and they stayed well out of his. He’d hardly seen anyone else during the time he lived there, since his schedule didn't align with most Muggles’ work hours.
It was partly Wyatt’s fault his hours were late. He was early to training daily. He liked being able to settle into the space before getting into drills. After more organized training with his coach, he stayed late to practice his agility on the broom, working on tricks or acceleration techniques or remounting from a half-fall. When the stars had been out long enough, he’d hit the locker rooms to freshen up before heading home. But that wasn’t so straightforward either.
Because he was in a non-wizarding building, he wasn’t connected to the floo network. He could have lived in some magical flat, but he needed a break from that world. Wyatt had always found solace in returning to what he felt was normalcy between years at school, and he didn’t want to give it up after graduation. It proved a small hassle, particularly within his commute. He found an underground wizarding establishment nearby that’d let him use their fireplace to floo to the training gym. The walk was only a few blocks, which was simple enough in the morning but felt like forever at night.
The strap of his bag dug into his shoulder. It was, of course, charmed to carry more than it looked like it could handle, but Wyatt still felt a good bit of the weight.
Both walks made him feel lonely in their own ways. The morning had a bit more bustle, with people starting their days with their runs or driving to coffee shops before work. Even so, it was quiet. Everyone had their eyes forward, music playing in their ears. Wyatt typically had his own headphones on, a pair of stringy wired earbuds that disappeared into his pocket and plugged into his phone. At night, he only wore one. It wasn’t that dangerous a street, but he was a paranoid man by nature, and around this hour, it was especially quiet. There was not much nightlife in this part of town. It made Wyatt feel out of place, like he was the last person awake for miles.
Until he was down the sidewalk from his building and heard a voice.
A very familiar voice. Only something was off about it. Slower, maybe. The owner of this voice, if it were this person anyway, typically had a different cadence. More upbeat. This was stumbling, arrhythmic. Of course, it was only some rando. The alternative would have been nearly impossible. Wyatt was a bit sore, so he wasn’t interested in fighting anyone off on the sidewalk, but he rolled up his shirtsleeves and took his other earbud out just in case, tossing the wire over his shoulder.
When he got close enough and saw the back of this person’s head, he froze. He was maybe ten feet back, but it was infinitely clear. Wyatt knew that silhouette. But there was no way! How could he–? No, it made no sense. If it was him, he seemed unwell. What an odd addition to his hallucination. Wyatt had never seen Hanako Tone drink, but that could have simply been a product of their environment before. At Hogwarts, when would Wyatt have seen him drunk? At the parties he never went to? It felt like a fever dream. Wyatt wondered if he was really awake. Was the whole day a dream? He had pulled off a pretty good fall save earlier; he would hate to wake up and realize he still hadn’t got that one.
His ears tuned back in.
"- donnt have der timmmee norr the energyy for yerrr ridddless. I dont knoww whwatt came firstt the chicken or the egggg just let me innn."
Hell, that did sound like him. Wyatt was utterly still in his shock, trying to process what was going on, and still not quite believing it. What he thought he was looking at was an inebriated Hanako Tone berating the entrance door to his building for… asking him riddles? None of it made any sense, and Wyatt was about to pinch himself, but a distant memory surfaced of once sneaking away in second year and trying his luck with the eagle knocker. He swore it knew he was a Slytherin and gave him an impossible one just to keep him out.
Who, but a damn Hogwarts student, would have such a specific issue with a door?
Eh, fuck it. Even if this wasn’t Hanako, this person seemed out of it enough that they wouldn’t remember Wyatt’s mistake. He hoped it was Hanako, for both their sakes: Hanako’s so that he was somewhere sober with a vomit-free morning ahead of him and Wyatt’s so that he could avoid dredging up old feelings a bit longer. Just another week, and maybe he’d be ready.
“Mkhm,” Wyatt cleared his throat, gripping the strap of his bag tighter over his chest. He stepped a bit closer, needing to get his attention. “Tone?”

Hanako furrowed his brows, registering the presence of the voice - just not where exactly it came from. " Door kun? That dounssnt soundd like a a… riddlee…. " he tilted his head, as if expecting an answer from the door. " Thats s not a riddleeee oh my gooddd I'm gonna diee out heree awwwhhhh" he wailed as if a great devestation had washed over him - shaking his head, " I knewww ittt iimm nott smartt fsiooorrdhahhim- immm a failelddduuree aaa failledd ravennclawwww aa -"
Teary eyed, he quieted down for a moment seeing a figure behind him.
For a moment Hanako only glanced at the figure from the corner of his eye, as if the gears in his head was taking a tad bit longer than usual to register what to do, and who was this.
Soon enough he turned to look back, blinking a bit. " ……Ww—whaat…. Wyatt…?" he turned his full body to the person behind him. His head tilted, swaying as if trying to get a good look at Wyatt and having difficulty keeping his head straight still. Once he registered the familiar face, he did exactly what his brain thought it was a good idea to do.
Tackle hugged him with no care in the world. " WWWWYAATTTTTTTTTT!" For both their sakes it would do them good if Wyatt had enough stability to support both of them. That was the sort of attack one would rightfully avoid near any sort of stairs - if one didn't want to end up with a concussion.

"……Ww—whaat…. Wyatt…?"
Wyatt met Hanako’s squint with raised brows. Yep, it was Hanako. And he was blasted. He watched as his ex-dormmate tilted his head to the side like a curious dog, eyes narrowed and straining as if he were trying to look through foggy glass. Wyatt thought it was only kind to confirm, though he could hardly get the single word out in his surprised haze.
“... Yes–”
"WWWWYAATTTTTTTTTT!"
To be quite honest, Wyatt assumed he was safe, because he expected Hanako to fall if he tried to attack him. The embrace seemed to require just as much effort, but Tone managed it without face-planting on the sidewalk. Unfortunately, that meant Wyatt went from just holding himself up to bearing all of Hanako’s weight in moments. He put one foot back to steady himself and wrapped his arms around Hana. Not necessarily because he was big on hugs—let’s be serious—but because Hana decided that a hug was more of a collapse where you dump all your weight on a person, and Wyatt didn’t want him to chip a tooth.
After a hug that lasted a lot longer than Wyatt could handle, the racer took Hanako by the shoulders and firmly separated them. He helped Tone maintain balance, keeping his hands on him if not hovering over his arms to stop him from swaying too much and making himself sick. Oh, right, things could get messy. Wyatt didn’t really want to be vomited on. He looked Hanako up and down, trying to figure out if he was that gone. He’s not going to be sick, is he?
“Toneee,” Wyatt imitated, though with much, much less enthusiasm and more shock. In a way, he was relieved to see a familiar face, but seeing that face sloshed was a different story. He couldn’t deny he missed Hanako, regardless. He wondered if he could admit that it was good to see him. It wasn't like he’d remember. “What are you doing here? Are… you feeling alright?”

Let's be honest - Hanako was completely oblivious at the moment. Blissfully ignorant of the inner workings of Wyatt's perspective and how he came off. Hanako - who was usually so careful with his words… that double think once twice and thrice before revealing anything - who took most opportunities to appear as vain and arrogantly charming - was now a sobbing mess that liked the feeling of someones arms around him a little too much to care if he was being hugged because they wanted to - or because it was this or the pavement.
At the very least he had some semblance in him that he hadn't sobbed a downpour like his instincts wanted to. Instead they latched on to the pure joy - often repressed - but now shown on his sleeve and laced in each tearfully gleeful wail. " YOU SMEELLL. YOU SMELL LIKE FLOWERS RAHH WYATTT ITSSS ZZZOOO GOOOD" . Wyatt did not in fact smelled like flowers - but instead like someone who had been out all day, tiniest hint of soap mixed in with an ash like scent as if smoke had intertwined itself in each seam of Wyatts clothes, even if he hadn't smoked that day. But Hanako - drunk enough as it is - registered it enough as a scent he liked. Even if he got the scent verbally wrong as it seems that was the only thing he could muster up at the moment. Not that he could likely say the same for himself - even if he couldn't register it. The usual floral scent that followed Hana was now outweighted by spice of cinnamon alongside a scent that only those inebriate could enjoy.
He protested a little at being separated but given his state, anything holding him up and not letting him fall despite what his body seemed to want - was pretty much equivalent to his savior. " A-aalright? Wyatt Im happppyyyyy gahhhfshh itssooooo niceee tahhseee youu! " he grins with a relaxed careless movement, " Hereee… uhhh " By the look of Hanako's confused face as if such a simple question made him think this much - its reasonable for the other to consider if it's even a good idea to ask Hanako any questions and expect a solid answer in return.

Hanako clung to him tightly, but Wyatt preferred that over a loose grip if it was going to happen at all, since it helped keep him standing. Plus… it had been a long time since Wyatt was last held. Maybe it was a bit comforting, but Hanako’s drunken ranting quickly shattered the moment.
" YOU SMEELLL. YOU SMELL LIKE FLOWERS RAHH WYATTT ITSSS ZZZOOO GOOOD. "
That was Wyatt’s cue to pull away. Not that he was particularly anxious about his smell—he’d showered in the locker rooms; he couldn’t stand feeling gross—but Wyatt liked to keep himself in safe ranges apart from people, as a general rule. If Hanako could really get a good read on his scent, he was far too close. That, and Wyatt was sure he didn’t smell mostly of flowers. He’d used his new lavender body wash, but he hadn’t known it was that strong, and he expected the cigarette he had on the walk through Cardiff would overpower that. Maybe selective smelling was a side-effect of drinking?
Wyatt didn’t drink much, and never to the point of getting drunk. He had always feared what kind of drunk he’d be. So far, Hanako was a sentimental drunk. From Wyatt’s sudden appearance, which Wyatt assumed was as much of a surprise to Hanako as the inverse had been to himself, to Wyatt’s scent, he was only picking up positives.
Tone himself didn’t smell bad, per se. He smelled like his usual perfumed self was hiding under a sticky bar. Wyatt could smell the alcohol on his breath, mixed with lime and cinnamon. From this proximity, Wyatt saw his smudged makeup—makeup?—and his messy hair. At least he’d had fun.
It was unnerving to see Hanako so open. In school, he could be clingy, but more in the possessive sense over some of his closer friends. Not in the literal sense that Wyatt was seeing now. It had taken some real effort to unlatch him from Wyatt’s body.
" A-aalright? Wyatt Im happppyyyyy gahhhfshh itssooooo niceee tahhseee youu! " He waved his arm loosely in a big, careless arc, and Wyatt nearly had to duck. " Hereee… uhhh. "
“Well, I live here,” Wyatt muttered almost absently, racking his brain, trying to figure out what to do. Questions were probably off the table. Wyatt should have known better than to expect a straight answer from Hanako Tone, regardless of his sobriety level. He took a deep breath and relaxed one arm, but kept the other on Tone’s shoulder, just in case. “It’s good to see you too, Hanako. But I doubt you’ll remember any of this in the morning.”
Wyatt turned his head once, twice, to look down the length of the street in both directions. It was late and vacant, but the streetlamps did their jobs well enough that he thought he could probably get Hanako home. Where was his home? Didn’t he live in England? This felt like a long way to go to drink. Maybe there was an underground party scene he didn’t know about. Wyatt readied himself to walk Tone back to a functioning floo. He had stumbled into a time-consuming responsibility, but he knew leaving him wasn’t an option.
The racer turned back to Hanako and frowned a moment. He was typically quite serious about his appearance. Instinctively, in an attempt to recreate the Hanako Tone of his memory, Wyatt corrected the loose strands of hair on Hana’s forehead.
“You look a mess,” he hummed, not to be rude. Just because it was true. He could be worse, but by Tone’s usual standards, this was a disaster. “Do you remember where home is?”

" you WHHHaaaAAAA?! OOhhemmgeeee Wyyaaaattttt Coooneeeeggratss !!! II kneww you hadd Walesssdf ssppiitit inn youuu wahhhwaaless love loveee walesss" He celebrated at the simple mention of Wyatt living here, smiling and clapping as if Wyatt had won some sort of award. Happy enough that he really only registered the first part of Wyatt's next sentence. " You do?! Ohhh im glasssd! I thought - I thought you hated mee.." His voice faltered at the end, his earlier smile souring like remembering something sad, as if exposing a crack. By this point Hanako sober, would've grabbed anything to close that crack again. Another joke, another flirt, get someone angry - maybe hurt, or sad. But now? Nothing. No defenses, no walls - just a downcast look at the idea of an old highschool peer - friend(?) hated him.
He only glanced back towards Wyatt weakly when he felt the tiniest brushes against his forehead. Hardly having the mind to consider why Wyatt was doing this, he instead closed his eyes briefly - as if trying his best to enjoy it while it lasted. Suddenly feeling a wave of exhaustion over him. Wow - he was so busy yelling at a door about riddles, he didn't consider how good a nap would feel now.
At Wyatts last question, Hanako made evident effort to open his eyes and refocused ( the best he could ) again. " UUHHHHH" he yelled louder in a drunken attempt to wake himself up, he begun looking around the best he could. Unfortunately that made him dizzy and he froze, feeling a bile up his throat as shown through his nausea face and instinct to cover his mouth with his hand. " UuhhHHhhh…." meekly - he pointed towards the door he was just yelling at earlier.
