The rolling hills and mountains of the Scottish Highlands had always been a place full of magic and wonder. Not only was it home to one of the most important and decorated magical schools in the world, but it was also one of the few places in which magical folk had established a village just for themselves. While their power made it easy to hide amongst the muggles it was still a rare treat to live out in the open as life had intended for all magical humans.
Anyone familiar with Hogsmeade village would most likely know of a witch by the name of Tatiana. She had spent her life traveling the world in pursuit of books that explored a wide variety of knowledge from all things magical to the mundane. Eventually she even established a small library in the village in order to share this information with any witch or wizard looking to learn or simply expand their mind.
Not only did Tatiana establish her library in the village, she also purchased a small plot of land just on the outskirts of Hogsmeade in which to make her home. As the witch aged she settled down in this area and became a steward of the magical forest that surrounded her. The dwelling was a simple stone cottage. Enough space for her and a guest or two, but the surrounding land was transformed into a vast garden. Plants of all shapes and sizes, both magical and ordinary filled the space around her home. If her nose was not buried in a book, she would be found there tending to her plants.
Howard came into Tatiana's orbit later in life. As a Hogwarts graduate the young man was left searching for what to do next and he'd find a temporary home at Tatiana's library. There he was given the time and space to eventually find his footing and during that time the two became rather close. A mentor and mother figure of sorts. Unfortunately, a couple of years later Tatiana passed away at the ripe old age of one hundred and eleven. While the news was not shocking it did come as a huge surprise when Howard learned that Tatiana had left her Hogsmeade property to him in her will.
It would have been easy to sell it off and stash away the galleons. Merlin knows the young entrepreneur could use the coin, but eventually Howard decided to keep it. He made no changes to the property except for the addition of Tatiana's name above the entry gate. Howard would tend to this property in her memory, but it did not feel right to go it alone. So, he would open this cherished earth to all others who felt at home with their hands in the dirt. The cottage could house a few, magical tents were available in case of overflow and the garden there for the community.
