Rosy stood outside Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, smoothing out the creases from her Hogwarts letter before tucking it back into her pocket. She took a deep breath, opened the door and went in, with her parents behind her. The shop was a pleasant hum of activity, bolts of black cloth stacked neatly against the walls, several wooden stools in front of tall mirrors. A floating tape measure zipped through the air as robes folded themselves on shelves nearby. Rosy looked around the room, absorbing every magical detail. It was strange to see so many children her age getting ready to go to Hogwarts, all as excited or nervous as she was. She smiled involuntarily. A witch in elegant purple robes behind the counter looked up and smiled warmly. “First year?” she said. Rosy nodded eagerly, and was rewarded with an inviting smile. "Come on, dear. Get on one of the stools," she said. "We will get you measured straight away." Rosy leapt up onto the nearest stool and watched as a yellow tape measure sprang to life, without anyone touching it. It circled her shoulders, measured the length of her arms and wrapped gently around her waist before sliding neatly down to the hem of her jeans. She couldn't help but giggle at the strange yet fascinating experience. Her parents waited nearby, as the magic tape did its magic. Rosy looked around the shop with interest, as far as she could see.
