Corra opened her eyes and smelled the familiar aroma of her mother's toast. At first, she was startled and nearly fell out of bed, but then she remembered where she was. Oh, I'm home.

Her room was still the same as it had been when she'd arrived at Hogwarts, the same sheets, the same curtains, the books she hadn't had time to take with her still on her desk. The only difference Corra noticed was that her room was tidied and cleaned, her books neatly arranged.

Corra went downstairs to the kitchen, and found her mother cooking. Well, not really cooking, as the soup spoon stirred the fragrant soup in the pot by itself, and the toast floated in the air, smeared with jam, and cooked perfectly before it hit the plate. “Ah, good morning, my dear!” Her mother approached her and kissed her forehead, then her cheek, then continued kissing Corra’s cheeks and forehead.

Corra chuckled before her mother stopped kissing her sweet face. She sat down in a chair and picked up some freshly baked toast. For a few moments, they chatted about trivial things like her classes at Hogwarts, her professors, Corra's experiences there, and so on.

“Oh my dear, I almost forgot to tell you something,” her mother half-shouted. “Hurry up and finish your breakfast and get ready to go to Grandma Mei’s house. She wants to give you something.”

Corra nodded and finished her breakfast. About half an hour later, she was ready in a white t-shirt and a knee-length denim skirt. As usual, her hair was tied in twintails with a white ribbon. Her mother handed Corra a bowl of floo powder. Green flames enveloped her body and—

Wait, there's no one here. If Grandma Mei wanted to give something, shouldn't she have waited for Corra to come? "Grandma? Grandpa!" Corra called out to her maternal grandparents. There was no response at all. "Maybe they're busy.”

Corra took the opportunity to explore the Japanese-style garden behind her grandparents' mansion. It was Corra's favorite garden, with its gravel path at first. But as you get deeper into the garden, more and more bushes, flowers, and trees were planted. This garden was originally built by Corra's grandfather for Grandma Mei, so she would feel at home in Japan when she visited this garden.

And if Corra goes deeper into the garden, she'll reach a forest. No one knows for sure where the boundary between the garden and the forest lies, though some guests have said that Grandpa deliberately left the forest for Grandma Mei. If Corra goes deeper into the forest, she'll find her favorite spot.

A cemetery. Not just any cemetery, but one with headstones shaped like angels. There were many angels here, some standing, some crying while hugging the ground, statues of angels screaming to the sky, and many more. Corra loved being here.

"Hoot!"

The sound startled Corra. She jumped and tried to find the direction of the sound.

"Hoot!"

"Hoot!!"

There! Corra found it! Perched in the hands of a harp-playing angel statue was a white owl with yellow eyes. The bird tilted its head, as if asking why Corra was looking at it with such a strange look. Corra tilted her head back, and the owl flew toward her.

…before pecked and untied the ribbon from one of Corra's twintails.

“Hey! Come back here!” Corra tried to grab the owl, which had begun to soar. She chased it back into the forest and into the garden, where it then entered Grandma Mei's bedroom window.

Corra paused for a moment, catching her ragged breath. Her heart was beating so fast that she could hear it like drums. I knew I shouldn't have run like that she thought as she entered the mansion and climbed the stairs to her grandmother's room.

The door opened with a loud creak, and there her grandmother was; sitting in her office chair, petting the white owl perched on her hand. The owl placed Corra's white ribbon between its beaks.

"I think this white thing is yours, Corra," her grandmother said softly. Corra had always been fond of Grandma Mei, from her traditional attire, to her graceful gestures, to her gentle speech.

“Come here,” her grandmother beckoned Corra closer. She took her granddaughter’s right hand and gently coaxed the white owl to perch on Corra’s hand. “You like it?”

Corra paused in confusion, while Grandma Mei giggled. “Isn’t this white thing yours?”

Before Corra could say anything, Grandma Mei stood up and put the owl back in its cage. “I noticed you don't have a pet yet. A frog or a mouse is out of date. A spider or a lizard doesn't do much. Pygmy Puffs have a certain appeal to their fans—but you're not one of them. And i think an owl is more profitable than a cat or a ferret. From now on, this snowy owl is yours.”

Grandma Mei patted Corra’s shoulder and led her downstairs. “Let’s go to the dining room. Grandpa must be waiting for lunch.”

After spending a lot of time at her grandparents' house, Corra returned home for the weekend, the same day her father returned home. Her father and mother couldn't help but laugh at the antics of Corra and the snowy owl. The owl loves to nibble on Corra's ribbons and hair, and steals her things like quill pen, bookmarks, and even socks.

"I think this owl needs a name," Corra's father said. "Oh, I've already chosen a name," Corra replied enthusiastically.

"Adelynn. Adelynn is the perfect name for her," Corra petted the owl who was biting her teaspoon and wouldn't let go. "isn't he a male owl?"

The family room suddenly became quiet, then Corra's mother called out from the kitchen. "Adelynn is a good name,"

"Adelynn it is,"
