Ocelot vs. Jaguar
This event is part of the Castelobruxo International Capture the Flag event
26TH OF JUNE, 2026 IN THE JUNGLE ARENA
After breakfast on the twenty-sixth of June, excited Castelobruxo students and their visitors gathered by the Jungle arena. The guests displayed a varied compote of nerves: some were excited, some would boast about their prospects of winning, while others, who had heard about the potentially dangerous terrain, would wish that they had never signed up. Nevertheless, it was too late to back out now, as Headmaster Santiago paved the way through green overgrowth that got progressively thicker the further they ventured from the school grounds, for the first teams to claim their bases and hide their flags. Since South America was experiencing its calendar winter, their guests would find the outside temperature pleasant. Meanwhile, the Castelobruxo students and islanders were used to considerably warmer weather.
Reaching the thickest part of the rainforest you could get without taking a trip to the nearby jungle village, they came to a halt. Santiago lifted his head and squinted towards the overhead canopy. The sky was clear. For now. The people accustomed to living in these conditions knew that the rainforest had a tendency to be unpredictable. Rain might begin to fall without warning, but for now, they seemed to have a dry game day ahead of them. After taking a glance around the groups, he thought it was for the best; it would have been a shame to scare them away before the games had begun.
The teams had been named after different Amazonian animals, which the groups were more or less satisfied with. Predictably, Santiago didn't care if they were satisfied about their assigned animal or not.
Before he sent the teams off in the opposite directions, he clarified some of the rules, hands resting on his hips in a casual stance. “This is it, Ocelots and Jaguars." Glancing over the first to third years, some he knew as students from his own school, though most were unfamiliar to him, he couldn't help but smirk. When his gaze landed on Logan, his expression softened a fraction. It might have been a conscious and selfish decision to name their team after his own patronus. Nevertheless, he continued. "Once you’re in there, you’re on your own. If you see something that looks dangerous, my advice is to not stick around long enough to find out. Me and the judges will keep eyes on the bases.”
“What about fouls?” A student asked, to which Santi only shrugged with an indifferent expression.
“That’s up to the rainforests’ discretion.” A twinkle of mischief briefly broke through his otherwise stoic expression as he added, “Remember, there are eyes everywhere.” Not just human eyes.
Uncertain glances were shared by some of the students, causing the more experienced players to chuckle lightly. Even the Headmaster’s lips tugged into an amused smirk, having seen this happen many times before; each instance was just as interesting as the last. It never got old.
“Well, what are we waiting for? To base!” He clapped his hands, sending them off.

HOW TO PLAY
The game ends when either team successfully retrieved the other teams flag to their base. Team Ocelot will be starting the game in Zone 1 and Team Jaguar will be in Zone 4 at the opposite end of the arena. There will be at most 10 rounds, each requiring a post of 200+ words. Please make sure you include your character's stats in your post.
During the first round only, each team must state which zone their flag is hidden in to the thread moderator. You may chose to hide the flag in any of the 4 zones. The flag remains in that zone unless successfully discovered or moved through gameplay mechanics. Do not reveal in game where the flag is located.
Each round, everyone in the team must make at least one action from the Capture the Flag actions list, unless they are unable to act due to a status effect or restriction. These actions are zone dependent. The team scores points by making successful flag actions or interceptive actions towards a flag carrier. Please note that players may only move between adjacent zones and cannot skip zones while travelling.
At the conclusion of each round, the zone state map will be updated to reflect all player locations. Players may only target characters who are in the same zone as them at the end of the previous round. If a target moves out of the zone during the following movement phase, the action automatically fails, with the exception of Flag Intercept and non-magical support actions that include a chase mechanic. When performing these actions, the player automatically follows the target into the destination zone as part of the interaction.
If the action fails while chasing, the pursuing player is left behind in the original zone while the target successfully gains distance.
Rules regarding roll resolution, action priority, and other game mechanics can be found HERE.
At least one member of the team must owl the entire teams' action list to @Meiyu Xiang before the posting deadline.

| CV | No one could claim that Camille didn’t look fantastic in his white linen button-up shirt and off-white chinos, the four top buttons left undone for a model off-duty look. However, if someone thought he was poorly dressed for running obstacle courses in the jungle, they’d be entirely correct. Camille had never planned to participate in the first place, merely seeing the excursion as an opportunity to catch a tan abroad, but they could consider him convinced once the unnaturally charming Castelobruxo headmaster had flashed a smile, rendering the usually disagreeable boy suddenly very cooperative. How could he possibly have refused then? Non. He'd been left with no other choice but drag himself to the Jungle arena where thick vegetation, ominous waters and suspicious-looking insects lurked in ample amounts. Regret crept up on him at an accelerating pace. When an unidentified bug slammed straight into his face, Camille could have screamed. Barely containing a disgusted sound, he flailed a hand to his cheek and swatted it away. What had he agreed to? Because in no world would he dig through trenches alone, he brought his reluctant compliance with him. Like that time when an absurd desire to watch Quidditch had possessed him, his friend was not impressed by his sudden impulse, but he still got his way. Esme had opted for a similar ensemble without needing coordination beforehand. Great minds think alike, apparently. It didn’t matter—he was not the only one who prioritized style over athletic wear or cargo, he observed as his gaze traced the seams and pockets of the heavy-duty trousers worn by one foreign boy on their team. Built like someone who enjoyed a brawl, the boy carried a strange combination of haughtiness and the confidence of someone who wouldn’t hesitate to resort to brute force when necessary. Refusing to admit himself intimidated by the sheer size of the boy, Camille could at least admit relief that they were lucky to not have to face him on the opposite end of the arena. As for the pants, at least they were well-fitted, whatever reprieve that was offered where elegance suffered. Continuing lifting his gaze to the boy's admittedly appealing face, Camille’s lips pursed as he continued scrutinizing him from a distance. Resisting the urge to roll his eyes at his own absurdity, he turned his attention back to Esme before his mind began fabricating other asinine ideas. Together in their matching tones and effortless coordination, they looked appropriately composed for people who were not, in fact, built for this environment. The amount of running he would be doing, in any case, would be minimal if he had any say in the matter. His gaze swept the gathering to assess the other participants and paused after passing over an unexpected face. Genie, the French ballerina he’d had the pleasure to partner with during last summer’s ballet intensive in Paris, was nearby, looking almost as out of place as the two of them. The girl always looked fabulous, of course, though she’d clearly had a touch more practicality in mind when choosing the outfit of the day. Her trousers covered most of her limbs and appeared thick enough to withstand bites and scratches from smaller creatures. Nothing would save them against a jaguar, ironically, but smaller snakes or insects wouldn’t penetrate through the fabric, compared to Esme who opted to compete leg-bare. Camille, for one, wasn’t complaining, but he suspected she would be. The last time he’d seen the French girl was during the figure skating competition in Russia, which he'd won by a landslide. That was besides the point, though no conversation had been exchanged back then. How improper of him, in hindsight. With a sudden urge to correct that oversight, he moved a fraction close as his gaze travelled over her, an expression of appreciation pleasantly grazing his features. “Genie? What a surprise to see you here,” he greeted her in their mother tongue. “I didn’t know you had an interest in trekking through mud,” he commented with slight irony. The jungle was possibly one of the last places he expected to find her. |

Casteloboruxo. It was absolutely exotic. This school was very grand. Blair, who Angel insisted to join the Capture the Flag event was in her team, Ocelot. Angel can only let out a saccharine composure. She felt excitement and competitive to say the least. The other students were sharing uncertain glances. Her head shook in a disappointment swing. Knowing already about teams, she needed to adapt and compromise. She recognized another person, Hestridge. Ms.Hestridge was in team Jaguar. Now that was quite odd wasn't it? A hare in a forest. The swan looked with her dreamy eyes. This was unexpected. But she has her own motives, she's sure of that.
The nature was vast and green in scenery. Tropical. Reminded her of Philippines, her parent's home country, the diverse animals and colorful sight was something artistic and bountiful of color. Oh it was elegant, Something new and a breath of fresh air. Her view however, had panned and her view saw another scene. The Headmaster of Casteloboruxo, Santiago Peralta was explaining the rules and disclaimers. Angel only felt amused, fine enough. As the voices lingered she looked over at Ms.Du Pont, who probably felt livid as she presumes. She directs her attention to her.
"Ms.Du Pont, how are you finding your visit at Castelobruxo hm?" she inquired with a smile
"You have the time you need, there will be tomorrow"

| E | ✧ location. the rainforest, jaguars base in zone four. date. 26th of june. mentions. @Camille de Varenne, @Naiane Tomari. ![]() To be perfectly candid, Capture the Flag was almost last on Esme’s list of priorities. She had arrived at Castelobruxo with half a mind to relax. It was almost summer, and she had a mixed bag of a year behind her: Camille and Livia, seeing her cousin again, and meeting Miss Riddle were all plenty positive experiences that she was happy to be bringing home, of course, as turbulent as everything could get. Her new house of emerald and silver, her dueling stints, and her brief career as a prefect had all landed squarely in the middle — notable, surely, but they no longer inspired neither wonder nor dread, and were not something she wished to dawdle on. Of course, what would linger, unfortunately, like a foul smell that one could not scrub out even with a Scouring Charm, was a certain redhead, her dead-faced companion, and a boy with shaggy hair and a penchant for the Great Lake. All in all, Esme had wanted — no, expected — her second international event in her Hogwarts career to be spent with a brief moment of peace and quiet. She had Camille here, as well as Livia, who would surely make for perfectly sensible companions for the respite and relaxation she had so been craving. She had it all planned out: a visit to the connected village, views of the admittedly stunning rainforest from the cable cars, and evenings spent lounging by the beach. She had packed accordingly: light fabrics, flowy cuts, sandals, and books perfect for light reading on a plush sunbed. Instead, Esme was now forced to accompany Camille to some… game. And she was sweating. The indignity. The visit has started off fine. Not stellar — but fine. Esme had, perhaps foolishly, underestimated just how warm it would be, thinking that since Brazil was expecting its calendar winter, it wouldn’t be too hot. Unfortunately, her English sensibilities had failed her, and no few weeks spent in Sicily during her summers could have prepared for the humidity of the jungle. At least she felt validated in her choice of wardrobe. Things took a turn when the Headmaster of the School — professor Peralta — had spoken to them over breakfast. He had run by their maloca, looking less like an academic and more like he was trying to impress some of the international faculty, and briefly stopped by to check in. Unfortunately for her, he happened to mention the Capture the Flag game happening later, and Camille, for some reason Esme did not quite comprehend, was suddenly very interested. Perhaps it was her own part-veela nature, but she found nothing appealing about running through the jungle, through dust, dirt, leaves, and Merlin-knows what else — even at the behest of the Castelobruxo headmaster, friendly as he was. She had rolled her eyes at the time. Unfortunately, Camille’s sudden interest in the activity did not wane, and after Esme found out that Livia was also participating in the event, she reluctantly threw her name into the ring. As much as she did not love the idea of physical exertion in the blaring sun and thick dew that permeated the air, spending the day alone in a foreign country she didn’t speak the language of didn’t seem fun, either. Perhaps there would be a silver lining to this whole Capture the Flag thing. Esme’s hopes were crushed quickly, destroyed further and further with every step they took into the thick undergrowth. She tried to keep her spirits up, though it was certainly not easy. This whole… “event” was certainly trying to mirror her year so far: for every positive, there was a negative there, bringing her mood down. She had been placed with Camille — Livia was nowhere to be found, and the only other girl she recognised, miss Dayes, was on the opposing team. Her and Camille were decidedly the best-dressed of the eight, but her shorts, gorgeous as they were, had the branches of nearby bushes scraping against her calves. The fact her team held no other Hogwarts students could have been a blessing or a curse, really, depending on if there were any foxes currently hiding in the jungle. All in all, Esme found herself wishing this was over already. Her sandals were not equipped for this, and the prospect of her afternoon spent like this had a mix of humiliation and irritation poking at the marrow of her bones. The headmaster (who Esme was beginning to look at in unearned distaste and blame for her own presence here — because really, she would have given so much to be at Enseada Azul, reading her book) left them after explaining the rules of the game. The base of her team, the Jaguars, was pitiful. A wide trench dug in the ground and a few trees that acted like the most uncertain bridges she had ever seen. She scoffed under her breath, rubbing a face over her hand — and immediately scrunching her nose at the thin sheen of sudor she felt there. Disgusting. She already wanted nothing more than a cold shower, and the game hadn’t even begun. As Esme looked around and attempted to gather herself, it seemed Camille was already socializing — speaking to a pretty blonde girl in French, surprised to see her there. She did not care to eavesdrop further; frankly, even being here in her current state was risking impropriety, much less trying to insert herself into that conversation. Instead, she took inventory of their other teammates: none of them she recognised from Koldovstoretz, or anywhere else, really. How… delightful. Esme took a deep breath, centering herself. She was standing there like a pillar of salt, and that would not do. She could be many things during this game — she refused to be utterly useless, at the very least. Her hand moved up to smooth over her hair, praying for the humidity not to have utterly ruined it, and turned to one of her teammates. The girl was taller than average — not as tall as Esme, but she stood with diligent posture and had a tan that suggested perhaps she would be more prepared for the heat than Esme herself was. “Excuse me,” Esme said, clearing her throat and giving a polite smile to the ebony-haired girl. “Ah, hello. My name is Esme. Would you happen to have a hair tie, or ribbon, or… anything, really?” She hoped that her chuckle did not come off too nervous or too irate — this weather had her usually perfectly practiced poise fraying at the edges. “I seem to have neglected the setting when picking out my clothes for the day.” ![]() wc. 1117 notes. none. ✧✦✧ |

It was pretty safe to say that Devon was excited for this event. While this was not a broomracing event, of which she played for her school - Ilvermorny, it still seemed like a fun game to play! The last time she played a capture the flag game was … a long time ago. Back when she attended her No-Maj school in New York City. At that time, anything that was done followed No-Maj actions and behaviors. There was a very fundamental difference with this game. They were allowed to use magic. The game hadn’t even started yet, and she guessed that it would become very chaotic. Not that she minded that fact much, at all.
The young Horned Serpent walked onto the field, gathering with her team in their respective zone. Devon glanced at the other students in her team, noting that she didn’t know them too well. Despite that fact, she wouldn’t let it hamper her ability to have fun. And have fun, she would definitely do her best with! Although there were two other girls that she was sharing a Maloca with, which was always very beneficial, in her opinion.
Of course, with Capture the Flag being so different than broom racing, Devon would have to adjust her thinking on how to best help her team. Despite not being too familiar, she didn’t want to let them down! As such, she needed to focus and cycle her thoughts through her available actions. Just what could the third-year do to help? And, more importantly, in what ways? There were certainly plenty of potential plays, and spells, for that matter.
That was for Devon to ultimately decide. She glanced again at her team members and smiled. She hoped to do a good enough job. For a young teenage girl who loved to talk, she decided to stay quiet for the time being and focus. Focus on the game, and on winning! This had nothing to do with trying to help Ilvermorny this time, like when she tried playing ice hockey at the International Magical Olympic Games. This time was to help her team, and hopefully gain a few friends out of it. She would have to see what would end up happening on that front.

Rina knows all about capture the flag. She's watched the Percy Jackson TV series, so, clearly, she's well versed. There will be swords! And danger! And finesse!
Well, as it turns out, there are two of the three, perhaps, which is close enough. One day she'll have a sword. As it is, being in the rainforest does promise some degree of danger, and Rina'll be damned if she doesn't have finesse.
The people on her team all seem so stuck up, though. There's that one French sounding guy who is friends with that weird looking blonde girl. Neither of them have any idea of what's proper to wear in the rainforest. Sure, they look cool, but one splash of mud on those fancy schmancy shirts, and tears will fall. Maybe it's more fun when you cry, or something.
She rolls her shoulders and adjusts her short-sleeved, pink-and-blue flannel. It's tied together at the ends, not buttoned, over a graphic tee with spider-man on it. That, for itself, is tucked into a pair of cargo shorts. She's nothing if not ready. She's also shoved her chestnut hair back into a ponytail. It's not her usual style, but practicality is far more important than beauty – unless you ask Frenchie and Barbie over there, in which case, who on earth knows?
Her teammates are already talking to each other. If they were normal (e.g. having knowledge of the Spanish language), Rina would join in. But she hears fleeting French, bits of English, enough to turn her away from the idea of interacting.
Rich people who dress like this aren't the type of people you want to make a fool of yourself in front of.
Rina might not care about what others think, but she does care about having fun. So she keeps her mouth shut and instead crouches down, ping-ponging a flower's stem between her index finger and thumb until the game begins.

@Meyra Lancaster | MENTIONINGCapture the Flag. Not something that Jun had necessarily anticipated for the end of the school year. She had never been to Castelobruxo, nevertheless to the Amazon Rainforest and now they were standing in the middle of it all. What had possessed her to sign up for this? Capture the Flag especially? Jun herself wasn’t quite sure. Throughout her second year, she had been rather unsociable, kept to herself and focused on her studies. Perhaps this out of character decision had merely been made through boredom and the desire to break through her patterns… just a little. Whether that had been a good idea would be decided later, judging on whether this was going to be fun or miserable.
Currently they were standing amidst tall trees. The sky was clear so far, though often covered by the thick leafy canopy made by overlapping branches of the trees. Jun had spent some time earlier, gazing upon the sight above her and had found it quite.. calming. There were so many plants growing around, so many singing birds or sounds one couldn’t quite place. Just nature.
Though, now was not the time to get distracted by how pretty the rainforest was, now was the time to play. Jun had been placed in Team Ocelot, playing against Team Jaguar. Some Students she recognized from the busy Hogwarts halls, some she had no recognition of whatsoever. The Ravenclaw had familiarized herself with the mechanics prior to this and hoped her teammates had too. To her understanding, there were four zones where each team could hide their flag, that they had to guard and defend. The only other task left to do, was find the other team’s flag and get it back to base. That couldn’t be so hard, right?
Headmaster Peralta was clarifying some rules, while Jun let her gaze travel over her team. Talking to at least one of them would have probably been beneficial. Yet, the young girls bottom lip was caught between her teeth, silencing any words that may have come out, perhaps even a bit anxiously so. This would have been so much easier with Mey here.. her Cousin would have made this all better. Without her, Jun often times just felt.. lonely. Out of place. Truly something she often struggled with. Perhaps that was also a reason she was here, to feel less out of place.

te and peaceful school was now crawling with guests at every corner. She couldn’t complain, as it made for some quality entertainment especially as the term was slowing to a halt, but it certainly did make it difficult to feel at ease. Capture the Flag was the event’s main attraction and only saving grace in her books. The second flyers went up, Logan had torn one down with excitement, pinning it to her bedroom wall. This sort of competition was right up her alley, with Logan naturally taking to it with a ravenous appetite. Being on the same team as Thales and Naiane, set loose into the forest against some unsuspecting unadjusted international students – it was bound to be a fucking good time. At a glance, their European lodgers seemed to have been brought up on a silver spoon, too preoccupied with keeping their pristine clothes unscathed than watching their sixes. Witnessing them adjust their designer watches and survey their perfectly manicured nails for tarnishes hit Logan like a foul odour, scrunching up her nose in disdain. At least she’d have an edge – and by that, she meant an ounce of common sense. She, for one, had actually dressed appropriately for the occasion, donning cargo shorts that reached her knees, a white tank top and a maroon bandana tied tight over her head, keeping stray curls out of her face. The rest of her bushy locks were tied into a low bun – secured out of the way of grabbing hands. As the students began to flock to hear Headmaster Peralta’s opening speech, Logan kicked up her boot against a tree trunk to pull her laces taut. She’d put a month’s allowance towards these hiking boots and they had seen mountainsides and rooftops all across Chile without suffering any damage. A pair of vintage aviators hung from her lips, one arm clenched between her teeth. The hapless European students already appeared to be fighting their own internal battles and losing, folding under the sweltering heat. One boy nearly smacked himself in the face, batting away a lantern fly. Logan chewed her bottom lip, holding back a grin at the thought of her mother’s scolding. 'Don’t be a bad sport, Lolu – it’s an ugly trait.' She could practically hear Sole’s voice in sharp Spanish, nails reprimandingly pinching the girl’s cheek. Nevertheless, Logan cast a sidelong look at Amaro. She could already see the mirth in the boy’s cruel eyes as he snickered at the poor, unwitting Hogwarts students. With an impish wiggle of her eyebrows, Logan gave a curt nod in their direction and dragged her thumb across her jugular. They would make quick work of them. Finally gathered together in a small clearing, Castelobruxo’s new Headmaster addressed the groups with grandeur that seemed to hypnotise those unfamiliar with his charms. Logan lingered near the back of the troupe, watching his theatrics with folded arms and averted eyes. This term and the handover of power at school had led to some considerable changes in her life that she had not appreciated. Many from more fortunate backgrounds would look upon the girl with pity, but she had been exactly where she wanted to be. Her, her mother and their humble lifestyle in Valparaiso had been just fine before the walking bombshell arrived and introduced himself into the picture. As it happened, the absentee, drug-addicted, useless vision of a father she had for her entire life couldn’t have been further from the truth; Santiago Peralta was wealthy, stylish and frankly overeager to slot into her life as if he’d been there all along. To anyone else, it’d seem like the perfect Cinderella story, only she didn’t need some heroic, rich man to waltz into her and her mother’s life, claiming to fill the vacant position of her father. As far as Logan was concerned, she’d gotten by just fine without him for twelve years. Right now, what she wanted was stability more than the perfect nuclear family. As he announced their team names, the subtle choice was not lost on her – jaguars. Their eyes met amongst the crowd of students, his expression melting ever so slightly at the sight of her, wistful yet endeared. Logan bit the inside of her cheek, feeling herself tense up at the display of affection. She balked at the thought of the others thinking that she had an unfair advantage being his bastard child or something. If she was going to win, it’d be on her own terms, on her own fucking merit. If he thought he could rig things in her favour to win her over, he had another thing coming. An internal shrug – she did appreciate the badass team name however. With a final flick of his hand, Peralta dispersed the students to their respective bases like parting the Red Sea. Logan’s gaze quickly found Naiane and Thales, affectionately linking arms with the colder witch. Eager to reach base first and assess the playing field from there, Logan gestured her to hurry along as she more forcefully grabbed Thales, giving him a hearty yank. “We need to strategise… Though, this is gonna be a piece of cake looking at our opposit–” She went to throw a cursory look over her shoulder, snickering as she expected to see the white-blonde girl and her effeminate friend retreating in the opposite direction. Lo and behold, the pair were following suit, looking frankly unenthusiastic and faring rather poorly in the heat. Logan’s face fell – served her right for jumping to conclusions. “Hijoeputa*.” Soledad’s invisible hand gave her a flick to the back of the skull, stinging with a sharp ‘I told you so’. *son of a bitch |

“Spanish.”Eden had been looking forward to the Capture the Flag event ever since she first heard about it. As a big fan of her school, she loved getting to take part in their first time hosting an event. Her previous fears that strangers traipsing about her home had vanished; she couldn't imagine doing anything other than welcoming them.
Being used to South America's intense heat--especially as she lived directly by the equator--didn't stop Eden from tying her hair up to keep it off her sweat-soaked neck. Eden approached the jungles of where the match would take place, immediately recognizing some of the girls as her roommates in her Maloca. She offered them a warm smile and a tiny wave. She heard one of the boys muttering something about staying alive to which Eden laughed lightly.
As the start of the game inched closer, Eden eased the bubbling in her stomach by breathing slowly and carefully.
“Oxalá que ganhemos!”¹ Eden exclaimed in Portuguese, mostly talking to herself.
As summer rapidly approached, Eden couldn't wait to return home to Ecuador. It had been months since she saw her beloved family and she counted down the days until she could finally eat at the family restaurant, sleep in her own bed, go to the beach. She'd been toying with the idea of dying her hair a new, vibrant color. She supposed she could explore than once she returned home, but at that moment, her mind focused on the game.¹= Hopefully we win!
