Dido was going to die. Or have fun. Or, potentially, both?

Either way, she was absolutely excited when she entered the arena, which hopefully wouldn’t be the cause of her eventual death, that Fawkes girl had built. She had arrived by bus, her hand sticking to the unpleasantly hot handrails as she attempted to exit the red vehicle of torment. The whole journey, she had been grinning, looking forward to the event ahead, and the respite from the uncomfortable hours with her parents. She continued smiling as she realised who she would be paired with: Angel, her room-mate and one of her dearest friends. The two girls were exceptionally close, right? Even if Dido had barely ever sat with said student during meal times. It was going to be-

Why was this girl everywhere?! What had Dido done to deserve such a constant, unending reminder of the encounter. The questions filled Dido’s head, the pure unfairness clouding every sense with a cloying anger. Even her smurf-haired friend was there. And, of course, Mikaela had on that awful, condescending look Dido had so hated whenever she saw her in school. Why was she here?!

But it was all going to be alright. Dido was going to have fun, with her friend.

Dido turned to Angel, spinning on her heel with such force she nearly toppled over, which wasn’t exactly how one ought to sell themselves as a beneficial ally. “We stick together, right?” she asked, a fierce and determined look in her eye. Angel would agree- Angel was lovely, if somewhat odd at times. Angel was her friend.

As well as her angelic companion and the constant blight on her life, Dido noticed that she recognised the vast majority of students, meaning that they were mostly first years. There was Tes, still with that ongoing cold hostility, to whom she gave a brief nod. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Amethyst, the second-year she had duelled with. The Slytherin had been impressive, but not terrifyingly so, unlike the fifth year whom Dido spotted only seconds later.

Her gaze passing right over Tina, Dido stepped into the circle, waiting for Fawkes to begin to speak. She listened, vaguely, to the instructions, her shoulders immediately loosening when she heard all the promises of safety.

If Angel agreed to staying together, she would quietly suggest who they "go after", offering a slight smile.

“Let the games begin!”

For all her listening, Dido instead froze; she was a deer in headlights.

Millie loves Hunger Games series. So without much thinking, she agreed to participated when Fawkes posted a poster asking for volunteers to sign up. That's funny, actually. When the original plot is the participants chose from being 'reaped' while there's only the bravest, fearless person who will volunteering themselves. And in this situation, Millie is a part of that person.

And with that, in this summer vacation Millie come to Fawkes' place to played the game. Surely, and hopefully, Fawkes didn't really intended to ended the volunteering people here since the area is not that much different from ordinary residence. Well, who knows. Maybe she preparing the arena in another place or it was just Millie didn't really caught it yet.

So Millie stood there, listening to Fawkes' welcoming speech. From her side, Millie saw a girl slowly stepping forward. Millie glanced at her, realized that it was Mary, her district partner assigned for this game. Millie then remember the owl Mary sent her couple days ago. Not with bad intention, really, Millie raised the corner of her lips to Mary, hoping she still remembered a little advice Millie had just gave to her. And so suddenly, Fawkes' voice emerged louder, announcing the starter of the game.

Evangeline could dont be more excited about this! I mean, a Hunger Games simulation in Hogwarts?! And she got to play it, with all her friends! She was teamed up with Amethyist, her second cousin, which made her even more excited! Evangeline and Ame hadnt spend that much time together before the age of 12, but since Evangeline joined Hogwarts, as well Just like Ame, who is a year older. They have been having more time together, which she just loves!

Evangeline and Ame had discussed their strategy together, hoping they would make it at least to half of the game, because playing is much more fun then watching! But honestly she was just happy to have had the opportunity to join this! I mean, imagine loosing in the first round, she could not imagine!

Evangeline stood ready, listening to Fawkes, now preforming their amazing speech! Evangeline had never met Fawkes before, but when they spread the word about the games, Evangline was beyond excited and signed up right away! Hoping she could not only win, but make some friends along the way too.

Evangline stood ready, she walked a bit forward, gave out a loud cough to call everyone's attention and said. "Ahem, Ahem, for those planning to make a move on us, don't bother, we're superior, and if you do so, ill make you eat slugs for the rest of the year.. Oh and hunt you for the rest of your remaining years here at Hogwarts. Thankyou very much for your attention, feel free to carry on". She took a few steps backwards and smiled at the fellow candidates, ready to rock this game.

I had never been more excited in my entire life.

Well, that's not true. I had been more excited when I got the Hogwarts Letter, or when I got sorted into Ravenclaw. You know what I mean, anyway.

I had been a fan of the Hunger Games saga since... You could say since birth. Pa was a huge fan and, with his excitement, he ended up convincing me to read the books. Best decision ever.

So when I told him that a friend was hosting an event about it, I swear he almost cried out of joy. He drove me to the place in the new car as he talked non-stop about all the ways this could go wrong.

'I mean, you're not actually killing each other, right?'

'Pa... I don't think so.'

'Good. It'd be a shame if you died in the bloodbath. At least try to survive a few days, okay?'

It was good to know my dad had his priorities set straight.

I told him I'd find a way to communicate with him when the event ended, since I had no idea how longer it'd last. He said that, if he couldn't pick me up, he'd send Alys. And told me that he told her that this was just a little activity I was doing with my school friend. Not a lie, exactly. I'd find a way to tell her, eventually.

When I arrived to the improvised arena, one of the first things I noticed was the size of the place. Holy Saints, was the Chaos family rich or something? Anyway, it was fantastic.

My District partner, District 8, was a guy I recognized from Gryffindor, I think. I saw him a couple of times when I sat at the Gryffindor table with...

Wait a second, I'd recognize that hair anywhere. What on earth was Skylar doing here!?

I had little to no time to process it before Fawkes announced the beginning of the Games. And with that, I ran away.

I had no idea who the hell my District partner was, but if I learned something from the original plot of the whole thing, was that I had to trust no one in here.
