Story:Reducio@Rosy Parker p.s. this doesn’t really have anything to do with H.io, so lmk if that doesn’t fit the requirementsI’m sure there has been a time in every child’s life when they have tried to cut their own hair. Maybe it is the sense of individuality you get from doing it. For me, my parents always chose the haircut I would end up getting, and no matter how many times I tried to persuade them to let me dye my hair blue – like my favorite TV character, Coraline – they never once even considered it; I could see it in their eyes. When I first cut my own hair, it felt like an act of rebellion. The looks on my parents’ faces when they came up to my room to wake me and were met with the shortest, most unevenly cut bangs they had ever seen were absolutely priceless. I remember my mom screaming at me, but I didn’t regret it. Inside, I felt a strange sense of freedom, as if I could finally take full responsibility for my actions, and it wasn’t a bad thing.
You could say I always wanted to grow up. Growing up meant leaving the house I was raised in and traveling the world. Familiarizing myself with different cultures has been my dream ever since my family flew all the way to Barcelona, for our summer vacation. I’m not one to settle down; maybe that is why I always insisted on changing my haircut and style. I believe we only live once – this is the only chance we get to squeeze every bit of life out of the world, so why not do it? I want to experience so much more than just the repetitive concrete buildings and trashed streets of Chicago.![]()

The boy whit silver eyes
The autumn wind whistles through the corridors of the castle. Outside, the rain was lashing against the high windows, and the light from the torches danced on the cold walls. Elara pulled her cloak tighter around herself. She had only been here in Hogwrads a few weeks ago, and yet she still felt strange at times. As a half-blood, she probably never had that. Her thanks wandered off to Cassian. Cassian had become her riavle from day one. They argued everywhere. Rich, arrogant, snobbish, pure-blooded and of course a shlyter. But today it was somehow different. He hadn't even looked at her and didn't even trip her up. He looked at the wall the whole time in obscurity and his storm-gray eyes seemed absent. His dark black curls fell into his face and his prominent and high knocks seemed tense and... sad. Elara stayed Abrub stand. Shit, she thought she had forbidden herself to think about him. She was tearing up her short golden hair in annoyance. What was wrong with her?Suddenly three older Slytherins emerged from a side door.
“Well look, the little half-blood.”
Elara stopped.
She tried to breathe calmly.
“Just let me pass.”
The boys laughed.
"Or what?"
She knew the three of them. They had often made fun of her and had also tripped her up a few times. "It's none of your business."
One of them turned red with anger.
"You little-" he wanted to attack Elara than suddenly someone stood in front of her.
"Don't you have anything better to do?" ,asked a deep voice. The three Shlyterins staggered back, pale. Elara looked up at the big eprson in confusion. She froze - what was Cassian doing here? The Shlyterins quickly got away - of course without giving Elara a poisonous look beforehand. There was a long silence between her and Cassian. Neither of them said anything until finally she broke the silence.
“Thanks,” she said.
He placed his hands deep and casually in his trouser pockets. Shit, he looked at her again with those beautiful, stormy eyes.
After a long minute of silence, she quickly added
"I still hate you"
He grinned
"and I find you annoying." Then the two turned around and went in the opposite direction. Both of them remembered this conversation for weeks.

Artemis’ POV
A barren wasteland of a city stood before me. The broken buildings and dark skies cast an ominous presence. The only color left was the clothes on my back. Everything else was gray. Like the whole world had lost its color. A war had caused this. A war that killed millions of innocent civilians that lived here. Millions of lives cut short because of a disagreement. The air still smelled of the smoke from the bombs that terrorized the city. I pulled a bandana up around my mouth and nose in hope of blocking the toxic air, but knew it was only a matter of time before it seeped through. Slowly strangling me.
A cold wind blew causing ash to stir. I pulled my threadbare jacket closer to me, but it was worthless. Nothing could block out that wind. It was as if the ghosts of the people that once lived here were calling to me. Begging to be set free. I stopped in front of a completely destroyed building. Nothing was left. All I could see was the crumbling walls and broken foundation. I dropped to my knees as my legs collapsed beneath me. This was my home, and now all that is left of it
is. . . nothing. Everything of my past was wiped clean with one blow.
I could not cry. I could not move. It was as if I was frozen in time. Remembering that day when everything that I had was lost forever. I bowed my head down. It was my fault they were killed. If I would have come home faster, I could have saved them. But instead, I let my anger consume everything, and that is why they are dead. Dead and unable to ever come back. That’s when the tears came. Small drops dropping onto my legs and slowly rolling down to the ashy earth below me.
Asher’s POV
I had not seen a single person for nearly a month. All I had to keep me company was the gray earth and broken buildings around me. Though, they did not keep much company. All they gave was a feeling of dread deep down. I began to dig through a pile of rubble. Hoping to find something edible, or something that could offer at least a little protection from the wind. Of course I was not that lucky. Those bombs really had destroyed everything. Just like they wanted it to be.
That’s when I heard something. It sounded almost like the boots of another person trudging through the rubble and ash. I glanced around, but did not see anything. Thinking I was just hearing things again, I turned away and began walking the opposite direction of the sound I had heard. No point in searching for something that was not even there. Then I heard something else. Something hitting the ground. That is what got my attention. Maybe I was not just hearing things. Maybe there was another person here.
I ran towards where I thought the sound was. Apparently, it was not that far. Only about 40 yards from where I had just been scanning through the rubble. There was a girl. She was around the same age as me. 17. She had short, dark brown hair that went barely past her chin and clothes that looked pretty much threadbare at this point. She also looked upset. No wonder. The world had pretty much ended around us.
“Hello? Are you okay?” I called out to her.
The girl’s head shot up quickly as the sound of my voice. I cringed a little as she looked around in a panic before settling her gray eyes on my hazel ones. Her bandana over her mouth covered most of her face. I could see the fear in her eyes as she began to back away. No. I can not lose her. Not when I have finally found another survivor.
“Who are you and why are you here?” She asked. Fear lacing her hoarse voice.
“I’m Asher. I’m a survivor. Just like you.” I responded.
She seemed to relax a fraction and take a step closer.
“I’m Artemis. How do you know I’m a survivor?” She asked. An edge still in her voice.
“Who else would be searching through the rubble when they know there is nothing left here.” I responded. Satisfied with my answer.
She froze in her tracks at that. Obviously not expecting what I had just said.
Artemis’ POV
A voice. A human voice. That was something I had not heard in a long time. I quickly shot up at the sound of it. Glancing around in a panic. Not sure of where it had come from until something caught my eye. The only other color in this gray wasteland. He stood there staring back at her. His clothes were also ragged. A messy mop of hair that partially covered the glasses placed carefully on his face. His hazel eyes stared back at my gray eyes.
I began to slowly stand. Preparing to run. I was not sure who this person was, and I did not really want to know. Maybe he was here to take me away. I can not leave. I have to stay. Even if it means my death. I can not leave them behind. Not again. His voice is the only thing that stopped me from running. One word stuck with me: Survivor. So he was a survivor of the bombing. Just like me. I do not know why I questioned him. I guess after everything, you can never be too careful. I walked closer to him after my initial shock disappeared. He seemed trustworthy enough. “I’m Artemis.” I said after he introduced himself as Asher.
He stood there quietly waiting for her to make the move. I walked past him, and when he did not follow behind her, she stopped and said, “What are you waiting for? It’s getting dark and we really need to find somewhere to stay for the night. I’ve learned my lesson about sleeping without cover.” She gave him a small smile. Remembering the scar on her back she had gotten from a wild animal she had stumbled upon right after the bombing about a month ago.
That’s when he began to follow. A smile slowly creeping across his face, “I’m glad you finally made up your mind. It’s about time too. I was starting to think you would rather be alone than with another person.”
I glared at him and continued walking as he laughed. Forcing him to either follow or find somewhere else for the night. As I expected, he quieted quickly and caught up to me. Following close behind so as to not accidentally get lost in a city of nothing.
3 Months Later
Asher’s POV
Four months. Four months since the world as I had known it ended. Three months since I had found Artemis. Artemis. The only other survivor from the bombing and the most guarded girl I had ever met. No matter how much I tried to talk to her and ask her story, she would brush it off and walk away.
I glanced over to where Artemis was sitting. She was working on something. Like always. It was probably something that would help to reinforce the little shelter we had at the moment. Well, if I could even call it a shelter. All it consisted of was a random piece of canvas that somehow survived the bombing. The piece of canvas was draped over some debris and made a small makeshift canopy. Even though it was not much, it was all we had. It was also the only thing that kept us somewhat dry whenever the rain hit.
“What are you working on this time?” My raspy voice questioned across the small space.
She turned around to face my eyes. Dark circles evident under them. Sleep has been rare lately. Every night we were terrorized with different animals. Some nights, wolves scavenging for food crossed our path. Other nights, bears or other scavengers scrounge around. Destroying everything in their path and not letting a single thing be left alone alive. We had been lucky so far that they hadnot found us. If they did, we would be doomed.
“Just cutting off the branches of this branch. I thought it would make a better support for the canvas.” She said, her gray eyes sad.
Things had been getting worse. We were running out of edible food and clean water. I can not even remember the last time I had a real meal. It was probably before the bombing. When everything was still normal, and I had an actual life instead of being one of the last humans on earth.
I heard a cough come from where Artemis was. It was a deep cough. One that once it started, it was hard to stop. I cringed internally. We should not still be staying here. The air was not safe. Even after 4 months.
“Are you okay? Do you want some water?” I questioned.
“Yeah. I’m fine. Save the water. There isn’t much left.” She responded. Another cough wracking through her body.
I knew what she was doing. She was pushing me away just because she wanted to look strong and be strong even though she was far from it. I had to get her out of here. There had to be somewhere not like this. Somewhere where we could finally be safe and not worry about if we will survive the night or not.
Artemis’ POV
I knew my lie that I had told him was not great. I had nothing else to say. I could not let Asher know how I was really feeling. I was supposed to be the strong one. I was supposed to be the one to be the last person on earth. But, at the moment, all I could think was would death be better? Every cough that wracked my body brought on a new pain in my chest. A pain I could not ignore for much longer. It was becoming unbearable.
Another cough I had tried to cover escaped my body. I cringed. My lie becoming even more obvious with every cough. That is when I felt someone behind me. I glanced back to see Asher. His concerned hazel eyes boring into mine. Searching for answers I refused to allow to come to the surface. Asher laid his hand lightly on my shoulder. His concern became more evident as I refused to tell him what was happening.
“Come on, Art, tell me what’s wrong. You can’t hide this.”
I cringed again at the nickname. The last time someone had called me that was right before the bombing. My mom had called me when she was begging me to stay. Actually, that was the last word she had ever said to me before she was burned to death by the bombs that had destroyed my life.
I shrugged off his hand and stood up. Not willing to talk about what was going through my head. I glanced back and saw many emotions running across his face, but I did not stay to talk. I walked away. Needing some time to think and be alone for once.
I began walking. My head reeling with thoughts. I did not know where my feet were taking me until I came across a once familiar area. A place I had not seen in four months. The place Asher had found me. My old home. Or, what was left of it. The walls were barely standing now with deep cracks running across them. It looked nothing like what it used to before the bombing.
I dropped to the ground in front of it. Staring at what was left. Tears filled my eyes. This was my home. My safe haven, and now it is gone. Forever. I dropped my head into my hands and cried. I cried for all those people that are now gone. My friends, family, and people I never even met.
I have no idea how long I sat there and cried until I felt warm hands touch my shoulders. I did not move. All I could do was sit there and cry. I then felt something warm wrap around me. Enveloping me in something I did not want at the moment, yet I could not move. Could not run. It was as if I was frozen in time. The memories of the past swirling around me. Strangling everything left in me. My body went limp in Asher’s arms. Finally giving up after a long day.
Asher’s POV
Of all places for me to find her. Her old home. The place I had found her four months ago. A place I had not expected her to ever go back to. She acted like it was too hard. That is why I know something is wrong. Something bigger than what she said. We had to get out of here.
I walked over to her and touched her shoulders. Hoping to gently stand her up and walk her back to the tent, but that obviously did not happen. She sat there. Stock still. That’s when I decided to hug her and hopefully give her some strength to keep going. I know how hard it can be to lose everything and everyone you love without getting to say goodbye.
Her body went limp and I sat down fully just to support it. Her eyes were filled with tears and squeezed shut. Not allowing themselves to open. She looked so young and tired. Like a little girl instead of the nearly 18 year old she was.
We sat there for what felt like hours, but was probably only a few minutes. Both consumed by our pasts and what we could have done to save our families. Though, deep down, I think we both knew that there was no going back and saving them. They were gone. For good.
Eventually I helped her stand and we made our silent walk back to the tent. Neither one of us had anything to say. The second we got back, Artemis went straight for the small pile of blankets where she usually slept and curled up there. Immediately falling asleep.
I softened as I watched her sleeping form. Desperately wanting to curl up in my own small pile of blankets and become dead to the world for a little while. But, things had to be done first. Like making sure our tent was not going to fall on our heads as we slept and that no wild animals would find the little food and water we had left.
Artemis’ POV
I woke up the next morning in a fit of coughing. This fit worse than usual. Not good. I did not want to wake up Asher. I had to get through this. But, of course, with my luck, nothing ever goes right. The second my coughing fit began, he immediately sat up. His concern was evident on his face.
I waved him away. Saying that I was fine when I clearly was not. He did not buy that, but instead grabbed one of our last water bottles and placed it into my hand. Forcing me to drink it. The cold water felt good on my parched throat, but I only allowed myself a little before I set it back down. Asher grabbed the bottle out of my hands before it spilled. Of course my coughing fit began again after I drank.
The worry lines that were etched across his face deepened. I turned my head away. My hair clung to the dirt and grime on my face. I probably looked awful to him. I could feel my ribs jutting out of the thin skeleton I had become over the past months. I knew it was only a matter of time before it all went downhill. I was already past saving.
Asher crawled towards me and took my limp form in his arms. I could feel his tears hitting my forehead, but I could not look into his eyes. I knew what I would see there. Haunting. Deep haunting as he watched all that was left of his life fade away like a wilted flower. So this was the end of the world. My world. At least I had someone that cared holding me through it.
We lay there like that watching the dying sunlight turn dark. The howls of wolves called eerily from outside the tent. The world was dead and gray, but at least Asher was there. I closed my eyes that night and let myself fall into a deep sleep. The warmth of Asher’s arms enveloping me.

Story:ReducioDeep down in the town, the house lights went off. The parents said goodbye to the daughter. The dog played with his toy before falling asleep.
Deep down in the neighborhood, a shadow came by. Slowly, subtle at first. Greeting the houses like an old friend. Inside the house, the dog barely even moved. The parents kept sleeping.
Who notices if a star vanish? When a flower rots?
Who noticed the shadow crawling, slipping through the stairs, inside the daughter's room?
Who noticed the way she had been retreating herself lately? The way her pockets kept filling themselves with stones. The way her eyes lost their spark. The way her preciated childhood toys dissappeared. Who noticed when the girl vanished?
And who cried when, the next morning, the sun kept shining, the dog kept barking, the mom made breakfast while the dad went to work? Who grieved when all that was left for her was the shadow that crawled into her bed and replaced her body?
Or when they found her, peaceful, forever sleeping in her room?
Cause when the sun goes missing, aren't the flowers just as pretty? Aren't the oceans just as deep?

The weirdest thing about the Necrocore Plague wasn't that it made people act defensively against each other -any other virus would do the same thing since people want to stay safe and healthy-, it was that you didn't know who was infected by it. Now, that was a better reason for other people's defensive and unusual acting. Some didn't know what the Necrocore Plague did to one's body to make them act like monsters. Scientists were still researching it, or were they? Didn't they give up on NP-Project after a few months because some of their people got infected by it? But the government is still telling the people that they're working on finding a cure. Everyone believes the government.
The only ways to know if someone was infected were by:
1. smell
........An infected would smell like rotten eggs at the beginning of their "transformation", although the person would still have control over their body, so they could notice it themselves and spray perfume on. This stage would only last for a month.
2. looks
........Throughout their life as an infected, NPs would look less and less like a human. Their visuals would change to a scarier one every 2 weeks, until they'd changed so much that one couldn't tell if another change was happening; nobody has gotten to that stage yet.
3. sounds
........If the NPs, so were the infected called, were infected for longer than three months, they'd start making throaty sounds. Some of them sounded like gagging, coughing, or hiccuping.
4. Actions
........Last but not least, after the first stage is done, NPs would start to act differently than they would have. They'd react quickly to noises made by non-infected, run toward them, and... unalive them. Infected have different ways of doing so, but they'd do so without thinking, because they can't think anymore.

It had been around fifty years since the humans first got infected by the Necrocore Plague, and only around 50 to 100 million people out of the 8 billion in 2026 remained human. Only God would know how many of those weren't in the early stages of infection, though. Some of those 100 million people were Kajax, Sergey, Rosetta, and Mikaela. The quad had the survival skills of ants, probably, but had somehow managed to survive longer than was expected for their generation.
One would think that people wouldn't think of having children in this situation, but these kids' and many other kids' parents didn't think of the virus part as much as they thought of having children. Being a child or someone under thirty years of age meant that they were the smarter and stronger generation. It was always like that, and due to that, there were a lot of expectations set by the elderly and the government that had to be fulfilled by them.
The four kids weren't any different than the other 5% of the population, which included sixteen to nineteen-year-olds. Children between these ages were to take part in different activities operations set by the government. Most of these operations were killing the NPs.
Children between thirteen and fifteen also had some tasks to do. These tasks were more like classes, as if they were at school. Although there was nothing as such anymore, kids learnt survival, reading, writing, and more survival. Maths and Algebra weren't taught anymore, because they wouldn't help the kids survive the NPs. So, when the survival classes took place, kids learnt to make a fire, shoot with fake guns (and learnt to use real guns at the age of seventeen), and any other survival skills in case they get stuck in the wild, such as which plants could be used for medications.
The positive side of the Necrocore Plague was that humans couldn't stay outside for long if they didn't have specific masks, which meant they couldn't harm nature more than it had been. The Necrocore Plague was like Earth's revenge. These masks weren't for everybody, though; only the politicians and the soldiers had these, since they were specifically made to survive the infected air for longer than one should have, and they weren't easy to get. If a "normal" individual had one of these masks, they'd be accused of stealing it or having killed its former owner, who was either a soldier or a politician. No, individuals couldn't get hold of these masks for long; if they were caught with one, they'd be sent outside the walls so that they could get infected by the air or the NPs.

Five years ago, the Necrocore Plague started. It didn't scare everyone as it should have at first, not until everyone saw with their own eyes what was happening. The governments' idea of protecting their people was to find a section in their state with the least amount of infected air, measured by an airborne activity, similar to measuring radiation. In that area, they'd built a huge wall, as the population was moved inside it. Of course, not everyone could go there; governments' priorities were the politicians, soldiers, and the wealthy. If enough space was left, individuals would fight to get a roof over their heads. The former preferred to have kids, teenagers, and young adults inside the wall, because 'elderly would die anyway'. Sooner or later, they'd said.
Just the wall had taken four years to build. Not only builders from all across the country helped, but individuals whose jobs had nothing to do with the task. But everyone wanted safety; the sooner they got it, the better. For reference, none of those builders and individuals got a place inside the walls in the USA, and most of the other countries.

Story:ReducioColour had appeared for the first time when I dyed my hair, before all I remember was black and white until brown became blonde and blonde became red, bright red running down the sink, staining the white porcelain and the tiled floor. The flickering bathroom light and the half empty bottle of bleach were my only friends here.
My brown hair was clustered in the sink, the chunks I had cut off were on the floor all around me, my hair was now at shoulders instead of my waist, the layers I had just cut sat almost perfectly. They had the air of not being cut properly like someone had to bend over backwards to cut the back. I sat on the toilet seat and stared out the window and watched the stars wink down at me while I waited for the bleach to sink into my hair. It was strange seeing my hair lighter, like a white chocolate bar. It had always been like the black coffees I made at work and the ones I drank to chase away the curse of sleep, I would need one soon my mind told me as I washed the bleach out, my head in the sink with the warm water rolling off my hair taking the bleach with it.
I dried my hair with my black hairdryer, stickers from various origins coating the handle. I washed out the bowl, ready to go again, this time with the red. I thought about how much I should put in as I pulled on the gloves, the cheap plastic ones that came with the packet. I quickly abandoned them though, they were too loose and sticking to the dye. The smell of dye filled my nose when I coated my hair in it, still black and white. Soon I repeated waiting for the dye to sink in, still I sat patiently on the toilet seat and thought deeply, about colour and meanings. Soon enough my hair was ready. This time, I used cold water, someone in the apartment had probably turned off the hot water but it didn’t bother me. It never did. I was numb, and being numb was how someone like me survived. All I wanted was colour. I stared at the dye slowly draining down the sink before I lifted my head. I was scared, something I would never admit. The mirror was scratched and cracked in places with droplets of water that had little storms of dye in them but I could still see myself. The air inside the bathroom seemed to stop like time itself had stopped for this moment yet the outside world was still bright and busy, the lights of the city outside were still moving and flashing like nothing was happening, like there wasn’t a war on their doorstep and there weren’t people fighting and I wasn’t black and white anymore. No one knew that the teenager in the apartment on the twelfth floor was colourful now. No one knew that she hadn’t been.
I was colourful. I was colourful and I was alive. Alive. Alive and alive.

Name of writer: Emi Sato
House School: Mahoutokoro
Year: 1st
Story: I wrote this earlier this year
ReducioEmi was greeted then by the headmaster of Mahoutokoro, Kotoka Sako. He smiled warmly and said, “Sato-chan~ Welcome to the cherry blossom event, I’m glad that you have managed to make it, would you come with me please, I have already prepared a boat for you with your senpais, perhaps you could gain a little wisdom from them about er – anything really.”
Emi followed him toward the dock taking in the scenery as cherry blossoms drifted through the air. The garden seemed a dream, suffused with the colors of pink and gold, as if the world was drenched in the light of spring.
When they got to the river, a decorated wooden boat was already waiting for them. There were two Japanese boys inside, who seemed to be brothers judging by the headmaster’s tone.
Emi climbed onto the boat cautiously and sat down, shifting her posture slightly before looking at them. She smiled them back politely but slightly. She felt a bit weird considering that she is the only girl.
“Er… Hi, I’m Emi Sato, but you can call me Emi-Chan! You’re Kabukimono-senpai and Fujimoto-senpai right?”
*sigh* I hope I didn’t offend them by calling them senpai! Her eyes again swept briefly over the boat. The carvings along the wood were detailed and elegant, and the soft decorations made it feel more like part of the festival than just transportation. Emi thought it was almost too pretty to be real.
After a moment, the boat started moving forward on the river.
In the beginning, it was all serene and calm. The water was calm, reflecting the sky like a mirror, and the cherry petals descended in slow, subtle spirals. Emi watched them fall, some of the petals landing on the surface and being immediately spun off with the current.
She leaned just a bit closer to the edge of the boat, taking in the sight without a word. The trees that grew along the riverbank bent over the boat, their branches laden with pink blossoms that glowed softly in the light.
But then, after sometime, the atmosphere started to change.
Emi felt the change in wind direction. It wasn’t loud at first—a differential in the air, but the cherry blossoms began to fall heavier, cousins clustering together during their descent to the ground. The wind currents started to become more defined again as if unseen rivers were shaping routes for the petals to move around.
Increasingly, blossoms filled the air around the boat. More and more blossoms filled the air around the boat. Not yet scary but definitely unusual, this was like a reaction of nature on some unknown force.
Emi blinked as a stronger gust passed by, sending a thicker wave of petals across the river. The boat’s movement was consistent, but the air around it was filled with motion and movement.
She looked ahead one more time, observing that the blossoms were no longer falling randomly but moving in certain patterns. The random falling of the petals seemed to have given way to patterns in which the blossoms now moved. Maybe it was her stroke of luck, but she somehow managed to dodge the cherry blossoms. How did I manage to dodge all the cherry blossoms? I must be that lucky today…
