It was a beautiful day at the Great Lake, the sun was shining, and it there a slight breeze. Lena loved nature, and being outside, it was one of her favorite places on campus. She had her book in her hands, not much noise at all, besides the whistling wind and the quiet waves of the lake. She was sitting on the edge of the lake, practically touching the water. Her knees were close to her chest, the book resting on her legs.
Though it was, almost, silent, Lena wasn't alone. Under a nearby tree, there was a boy with with hair that's fiery red with hints of golden brown and bright, stinking blue eyes. He seemed to have a similar idea to Lena, his nose was stuck in a book too. She had seen him before, in a class, though they've never spoken to one another.
Lena had never mind the quiet company. She never even really seemed to notice, she was always in her own little world. Every once and a while, she'd look around at her surroundings, taking them in. She liked to watch the water, it was peaceful. It was one of the only quite places on campus. Every once in a while, she would, also, look over at the boy, studying his face, searching for a name, or some way to identify him. Lena was usually good putting name's to faces, but she wasn't sure if she knew his name.

Once Clark was reading, and engrossed in a book, he hardly noticed the passing of time. The pages of the book he was reading, had long stolen his attention, leaving him absorbed in the subject, the world around him was just a blur of fading noices, a combination out of the sound of waves brushing against the shore and the occasional rustle of leaves overhead. All together it resulted into a quietness that was comfortable. The kind of silence he sought whenever the castle grew too crowded, too loud for him to form a single good thought. He turned another page, his eyes falling onto another constellation, his brain already working, recalling his recent learned things in astronomy, but he than saw something out of the corner of his eye, which made him lift his gaze into the direction he had saw the movement come from. When Clark‘s eyes landed on the thing he saw, that ‘something‘ was rather someone. It was her again. The girl wasn‘t that far away from him, sitting at the water‘s edge, curled around a book much like Clark was. Clark had recognised her immediatly. He knew they shared a few classes together, though he couldn‘t recall a moment he had exchanged a single word with her. She seemed relaxed. And as absorbed in the book as Clark was. Clark found himself watching for a second longer than intended before lowering his eyes back to the page he was currently reading, trying to lure his attention back to the constellations in front of him. Just looking was enough. Clark wasn‘t one who would start unnecessary conversations out of the blue. But this trait often mislead people. They often thought is quietness was more coldness than, but the truth was, Clark simply never saw a reason to interrupt someone‘s peace, especially not someone‘s peace, who seemed to value the silence as much as he did. While his mind was a back and forth, his fingers absentmindedly adjusted the neatly folded bookmark tucked between earlier chapters, before he tried to get back to reading. While toying with the bookmark, a soft breeze came up, sweeping across the shoreline, carrying the scent of fresh water and pine, giving the air surronding him a fresh smell. A fresh smell that flooded his senses, and undoing the knots of thoughts, that clouded his mind, making room for clearer thoughts again, for clearer thinking. And with the fresh smell, his concentration came back, making him focus back on the pages before him. This was nice. Just reading. Just existing. |

Lena stared at her book for a moment, the words starting to blur. She traced the edge of her book. Her eyes were tired She typically wasn't the type to talk to people first, however she wanted to ask the boys name. She glanced back at the boy, then at her book, then at the boy once again. She stared back at book, her eyes starting to get heavy. This was the point where she realized she should probably head back to the castle, however was going to ask the boys name before.
Lena leaned forward, not realizing how close she really was to the edge of the lake. She used her hands to help her stand up, her book tight in her hand. SPLASH! Lena gasped. This cannot be happening right now. She thought to herself, sitting in the water. Her and her book were now soaked. She started to mutter thing to herself, clearly frustrated. "I can't believe this had happened to me. How could I be so stupid? I'm all wet now." She spoke to herself, completely forgetting about the world around her.
Lena finally remembered that she wasn't alone, she stood up, picking her book up from the lake. Wet clothes was one thing that she didn't find enjoyable. As she stood up, she readjusted her skirt, pulled the edge of her sweater down, and fixed her hair, tucking her hair behind her ears. Safe to say I'm awake now. She was clearly in a bad mood, but more upset at herself. She started to walk off back to the castle, however she decided to stay.
Lena couldn't put her finger on it, but something about the boy was interesting to her. Maybe it was because he seemed so similar to her. She crouched down next to him, tilting her head slightly. Her clothes still dripping wet. "I think I've seen you around before. What's your name again?' She said softly.
