Jada was late. She’d never been late before but today she’d gotten held up by a commotion in the common room. Damn it, she had to hurry up! She reached the second floor when she heard a heavy thud hit the floor. She froze savaging whether to fight the instinct to just ignore it. Ugh! she though, changing her trajectory and directing it towards the source of the sound instead.
”Ah!” she yelped as she saw the girl. An unconscious Hufflepuff heap was slouched against the base of the wall. Oh my god, oh my god what do I do? She took a couple deep breaths before approaching the girl. What would a grown up do?
Check if they’re breathing. Yes that seemed like a reasonable thing to do. Jada reached out, touching the girls wrist and feeling for a pulse. She didn’t bother stopping the sigh of relief she felt when first feeling the steady beat. What next?
Find help. Find somebody who would know what to do. Perhaps she could bring the girl to the hospital wing? It was only a floor up…
Making up her mind, she placed the injured girl’s arm around her shoulder, making sure that her hurt leg wasn’t being dragged along, and began to stagger along the corridor. The girl wasn’t particularly big, in fact, she seemed to be drowning in her robes, still, Jada was unaccustomed to the weight of a full human being.

落ち葉 (Ochiba) — The Fallen Leaf
Irma made her way through the corridors crazily, swerving to avoid bumping into people. She didn’t have a destination in mind, anywhere was fine as long as it wasn’t class.
Suddenly, chatters filled her ears with a new intensity, even compared to the usual corridor chatter, along with snickers and mean comments. A small crowd was gathering in front of her. She inhaled sharply as she saw glimpses of a small girl slumped on the floor from between witches and wizards.
‘Everyone knows Slytherins hate Hufflepuffs…’ She heard an older witch saying.
‘What are you saying?’ —A Ravenclaw wizard, at her side replied.
‘I mean… they were alone…’ The witch smirked. Irma noticed that she was a Ravenclaw as well.
‘Hmm. Well, Slytherins hate everyone.’ The wizard seemed to agree.
‘And everyone hates Hufflepuffs. Who wouldn’t? Lazy, good for nothing bunch.’
Irma finally stepped forward, her blood boiling, weaving through the crowd, with a rough elbow in the gossipers’ direction. (‘Ow! D’you think she heard us?’)
She knelt at the unconscious figure. ‘Help me here,’ she whispered, glancing up at the Slytherin girl, grabbing the Hufflepuff’s arm awkwardly. How would she do this? It seemed an impossible feat now she was attempting it. Well, she had to try. The gazes of the crowd felt like they were searing her back as she tried to figure out how to go about this.

Irma focused on pulling the Hufflepuff’s arm across her back. A little support. She’d seen people do this before… only the injured were always conscious. As she hoisted the girl’s dead weight upright, she heard a terrifying cracking sound and immediately set her back down.
Upon inspection, the situation had got no worse but she was too afraid to move her again.
The bell rung out loudly, and the crowds slowly dispersed—what was left of them, anyway. Most of them had left after seeing that someone was helping.
Well she needed help herself! She glanced at the Slytherin. ‘Wait here.’ She finally said, decidedly. ‘I’m going to go get help.’
She ran off, leaving them alone. It was a wonder no teacher had heard about the situation. Or perhaps they had, and they too, had chosen to ignore it.
It made her blood boil to think of the number of people present that could have helped somehow, and had instead stood to a side and watched the show.
Even a prefect, she thought, shutting her eyes in prayer. Even just a prefect to stumble into.
Irma found herself in the hospital wing. This was her first visit there. She looked around in awe, then her eyes caught on a pile of papers on a desk. A list of… names? She cautiously walked over and eyed the content.
Hospital Wing Internship Program, it read. A burst of excitement in her chest, she read on. She checked the name of the last student that had volunteered. @Reyna Evergreen, it said. Next to the name, a small ‘approved’ stamp had been given.
Now she just had to find her.
An idea. She pulled out a notepaper from her pocket, scribbled out a quick message addressed to Reyna Evergreen, signed her name, and slipped it onto the pile of papers. This was her best hope.

A Hufflepuff girl had arrived and tried to help before dashing off again as quickly as she had come. Perhaps she’d been scared off by unconscious figure, or maybe she’d was trying to actually make herself useful and find a responsible adult.
Finally, someone with actual experience arrived. Either someone had called the nurse or she’d come on her own but either way, she was here now. ”No, I don’t know what happened but she’s now moving.” Jada said to her, rather panicked. It was true the girl hadn’t moved beyond the occasional spasm and now lay still on the floor, her limbs twisted at unnatural angles.
”I tried to bring her to the hospital wing but I couldn’t and she’d legs are all weird and…” she blurted out to the newly arrived woman. Her breaths were becoming shorter again, this was the first actual emergency she’d been in.
She had faith that the nurse would be able to help, though. The injuries weren’t magically inflicted and magical could probably be used to heal them but she hadn’t trusted herself enough to try herself. If anything had gone wrong, it’s blame would’ve lain solely on her at least like this she didn’t add majorly to the existing injury. The way the girl was splayed across the floor, she was certain there had to be multiple broken bones.

Irma’s scarf was flopping over her forehead, undone from all the running. She put a hand up to her shoulder and yelped as a loose pin pricked it. No time to fix up her appearance though… she had a girl to save.
With a deep breath, she ran off toward the corridor again.
The school nurse was there. Irma almost started laughing.
‘Nurse!’ What should she call her… what even was her name? Something with an N… she’d figure it out later. ‘This girl— I— I think she fell?’ Come to think of it, what had happened?
She glanced at the Slytherin, recalling the whispers. Could she have pushed her over?
No, she couldn’t think like that. Just because she was a Slytherin. But she couldn’t help wonder. It did fit the qualities of a Slytherin, or what she’d heard of them. She glanced at the Hufflepuff. What had she done to the Slytherin? Had she simply stood in the way of what she wanted? Irma tried not to shudder. It wasn’t just any witches and wizards that were represented by a snake.
‘Something’s wrong with her ankle, I think.’ She glanced at the twisted foot. Of course it was, anyone could see that. But what exactly was wrong with it was beyond her.
‘Can you help?’
