The professor could not be serious. Dahlia stared at the assignment in front of her. The voices of various classmates commenting, comparing, conversing filled through the room but the witch paid them no mind. On most occasions, Dahlia would have been among the first to speak up. However, as it seemed, the grade written on parchment had jumped down her throat and stolen her words. She was flummoxed.
It was not as if the Gryffindor had tried her best on the assignment. That would be shameful. Dahlia had put in as little effort as she could possibly get away with and then gone on to read about Norse mythological traditions which were, although interesting and related in some senses to astronomy, not relevant class material she ought to be studying. Such efforts were justified for the sake of her intellectual curiosity and, also because trying her best was precarious at best.
It was to her advantage that, in moments such as the current, Dahlia was able to make the claim that "she had not even tried," a buffer against feelings of distaste with her own abilities. Her full effort, of course, would have produced better results. However, if she were to have tried her hardest and still failed, her ego would suffer. The witch did not have time for that.
Even the most supreme of all tactics did not protect her from the letter on her parchment— her second poor letter grade of the year. Only by the skin of her teeth had she passed with a blocky, flaming 'A.' She could not look at it for too long, rather directing her glare in the direction of the professor. Were her inherent smarts not sufficient? Her intuition for correct answers was sound so, if she were to receive such a grade, what for the students in class who did not share her intelligence? The assignment was clearly unreasonable.
She ought to tell the professor. Her eyes narrowed. Unfortunately, they seemed to be occupied with another student at the moment and the lesson would be starting soon. Dahlia would have to wait through the torturous reality of another astronomy class before she could stage her complaint properly.

Coded by Melissa BlakeAstronomy. My favorite out of all.
There was something in the quiet of night that just felt right. Ever since I was a kid, I've always liked the stars. The universe. A silly thing to like for a six year old, but no one ever said something about it.
Now, I know and I understand why Astronomy classes have to be at night, but honestly, did they have to be that late?
I hated having to stay up late. I mean, yes, I didn't sleep last night, but that's because I was late studying and didn't look at the hour. And now you're telling me I have to stay awake in class? Impressive.
At least it all wasn't that bad. The internship was good. I had the chance to help and stare at the sky longer than everyone. It was a win-win! So now, before class started, I was talking to the teacher, asking him if we had to help with something else tonight. After that, a few minutes before class started, the conversation ended and I went to my usual seat, a few steps away from the shore of the tower.
Today's subject seemed to be easy. Maybe, if the class ended early, I could go to sleep early too, right?
At least my assignment was good. Another O, I thought, as I packed it up on my bag.Stamina: 6 | Evasion: 6 | Strength: 4 | Wisdom: 7 | Arc Power: 6 | Accuracy: 6

The sight of another approaching her spot caused the witch to bristle in place. She rubbed the corner of her eye. In the spirit of unwise decisions, Dahlia had chosen to stay up late the night before she had Astronomy lost in conversation with her dormmates. She had known, before doing this, that she would be tired the next day. This had not fazed her. Now, when she glanced towards the stars, they served only as a reminder of the current hour and, hence, her tiredness and frustration.
She contemplated the idea of taking a nap during class. The cold stone floors were less than appealing but sleep could take her anywhere. The first year had once fallen asleep standing on the top step of a moving staircase. It was not impossible.
A long sigh brought her back to the presence next to her. She seemed relaxed... It was as if she were actually preparing herself to enjoy the class Dahlia spent so much of her effort dreading. No. That was unacceptable. She was certainly the superior Astronomy student between the two and, yet, this individual had the talent of approaching the subject with joy even if she would certainly receive worse results than the Gryffindor seated next to her. Dahlia did not comprehend.
The witch was not typically the sort of girl who set herself about ruining others' days on purpose. She was not a mean girl in her nature. Rather, she did as she pleased. A hand ran through her hair, an act of idle contemplation over the possibilities at hand.
Dahlia's feet began walking before her brain had finished thinking. The girl, who seconds ago appeared to be the same height as the half-Veela's pointer finger, now sat before her at her full size. Right. Dahlia had approached her. The Gryffindor's brain buffered for a moment as to realign with her physical being.
"I was sitting there." A raised eyebrow paired with narrowed eyes greeted Mikaela. Dahlia had not been sitting there. She was, as per usual, saying things for the sake of it. However, her relationship with the truth was aspirational at best. Did it truly matter? A seat was a seat. Dahlia held particular affection for Mikaela's.

Coded by Melissa BlakeI narrowed, my gaze lifting lazily to meet hers.
Uh... Who was this?
Wait, no. I remembered her. We shared Astronomy... obviously. But at this time of night, when it was all so dark and I had one eye already sleeping, it was harder for me to remember the faces or the names.
She had the name of a flower. Which one? Lily? Hyacinth? Dahlia?
Lee. I remembered the last name, though. The name must be one of the prior options.
My eyes scanned her up and down before sighing.
"Oh, is it? I don't remember you sitting here." The words came out of my mouth almost tired, as if my voice was too lazy to keep going out of my throat. "There are lots of seats, just pick one and leave."
Now, this wasn't my usual behavior. At all. But today was definitely not a good day for me, and all I wanted was to sit down in my usual seat and enjoy one of my favorite classes in peace, then go to sleep. Was that a lot to ask for a girl? Apparently, yes. My eyelids closed and opened slowly.
As much as I loved Astronomy, there was something to accept: The schedule sucked entirely.Stamina: 6 | Evasion: 6 | Strength: 4 | Wisdom: 7 | Arc Power: 6 | Accuracy: 6

A narrowed gaze met its likeness as Dahlia lowered her gaze to make eye contact with the seated girl. Unfortunately for the Gryffindor, the seat-thief possessed something of a memory and had the guts to defend it. Very good. Despite her motivation in taking the seat, she would have dismissed the girl as another random if she had moved from the spot without protest. Dahlia preferred a challenge.
She could not oppose Mikaela on the premise of memory. If any part of the witch's intuition was correct, the Ravenclaw possessed far greater long-term recall than herself. She was arguably in the "wrong" so logic also fell through. Hence, randomness served her desires best. Straightening her posture, Dahlia spoke up. "I was sitting there in my mind, if you have to know," she clarified, hands folded behind her back.
What was an argument if not a chance to dig herself into a greater pit than she already had? "Listen. It's calling to me." She cupped a hand to her ear. The seat, obviously, said nothing. It was an ordinary chair. Anyone with an ordinary mind knew that chairs did not shout for their favorite students. Dahlia knew that. However, her imagination persisted, awaiting the girl's reaction.
She let out a hum of consideration. It was just as viable to acquire her own chair. However, that was boring. Dahlia did not wish to give up so easily when victory, although through ridiculous measures, was on the cusp of attainability. There was the practical matter in that the teacher would begin teaching soon and, at that point, it was expected of students that they be seated and remain so in a relatively stable configuration for the duration of the lesson. Hence, an end must be brought to the debacle. She tilted her head.
"Fine. We can share it if we must." She took a pointed look at the seat. Yes, Dahlia. Share the single-person seat with a stranger instead of insisting she use one of the many other, available seats. You are the epitome of kindness and charitability...

Coded by Melissa BlakeYou have got to be kidding me. Lee had to be half asleep. That or I was asleep already and this was all just a fever dream. Share a single seat? Sure, and I'm the Queen of England, then.
I let out a single, sarcastic laugh before replying.
"Yeah... what else, sweetcheeks? You also want a star for your good behavior and a jeweled crown?" The nickname escaped my lips softly, in a mocking tone. A sly smirk tugged at my lips, glancing around the room.
"Look, the class is about to begin. Take a seat, a single one, and pay attention. Count stars or do whatever you want, just get off me." My voice was low as I leaned over, reaching for my bag, taking out the parchment and quill I needed to start this.
The parchment with the last assignment slipped out, the big, red "O" standing out from the black ink of my quill. I tugged it into the bag again, humming a soft tune as I set a mental reminder to write to my dad about it. He'll be proud about the internship thing. He still didn't know about it. That would be a surprise for him... Maybe. I don't know. I just want this class to end so I can go to sleep in peace.Stamina: 6 | Evasion: 6 | Strength: 4 | Wisdom: 7 | Arc Power: 6 | Accuracy: 6

Apparently, Mikaela was not listening to fair and rational solutions. Dahlia had gone so far as to compromise her own goal of taking the Ravenclaw's seat as to agree to share it with her. It seemed as if the girl had no appreciation for her kindness whatsoever. Her feet hurt from standing and also walking. How rude was it for Mikaela to force her to partake in these activities for extended periods of time. (Yes, because Mika had personally decided the Astronomy tower ought to be a different tower from the Gryffindor tower and that, in order to traverse from one to the other, one must go all the way down one flight of stairs and all the way up another. Dahlia's grip on reality was fleeting at best in moments like these.)
Sweetcheeks? Dahlia had never heard that taunt used before. She assumed it was a taunt. However, Dahlia was nothing if she did not properly commit to a bit of great promise such as the current one at hand. There were several ways she could react if only she took the time to think before speaking. However, an involuntary chuckle escaped her lips. She rested one hand on Mikaela's desk because, yes, her feet still hurt. She was, much to her chagrin, not yet seated and, hence, her arm at the very least required a break. "Actually, yes. I've always wanted my own star." She tapped her lip in mock contemplation. Such was her decision. "You have 24 hours."
In hindsight, mere seconds later, Dahlia realized that the obvious counter to her own antics was that of seriousness. She understood the Ravenclaw's sarcasm. That was not the problem. Rather, she tactically chose to feign ignorance as she found that more entertaining than confronting her classmate head-on over a seat she had never cared about in the first place.
Now was the moment for her tactical exit. The Gryffindor stepped backwards, lifting her hand from the desk. "The crown better have rubies. Red is my best color." She called over her shoulder before moving to find a desk that had no occupant. Dahlia deemed one desk war per period to be sufficient.

──────xABILITIES.What the... oh, in the name of the greatest Neil Armstrong, what the hell was wrong with Lee? I yanked my head backwards. There's no way this girl is serious right now. No absolute way.
"You have 24 hours." Yeah, 24 hours for what? Get off her sight? Sure, one thing we agreed upon. I didn't want her on my sight, either. She was truly becoming a headache, and I was not wasting my precious sleep time just to her to come over with her all-mighty presence and screw up my night. No, if I wanted that, I'd go take a walk.
"You truly have issues, who pissed in your coffee this morning?" I muttered under my breath. If I had a galleon for every time I crossed paths with a crazy girl who seemed like she hit her head as a baby, I'd have two galleons. Which isn't a lot, but it's curious that happened twice, right?
Looks like the odds were not in my favor tonight.
She also said she wanted her crown in a red tone. Yeah, sure. I'll pat her back and sing her to sleep, too. That'd be nice.
Thankfully, she left. The rational part of her brain decided to work, finally, and led her to an empty desk. The bad thing was that class was just about to begin and her desk was in my field of vision towards the teacher. Which meant that every time I looked at the teacher, I'd have to look at her stupid head, too. Damn.
But hey, at least she was gone... for now.
"Oh, thanks for using your brain, baby." I muttered. It wasn't a nickname this time. It was an insult. I was calling her a real baby. A crybaby, actually.
