![]() Jamie was used to the warmth, after having moved to Japan she had quickly acclimatised and no longer thought of 30+ degrees as abnormal temperatures. She also thought she had gotten used to humidity, as usually the heat back home was accompanied by a decent amount of moisture, however having come to Castelobruxo for a interschool event she realised that she hadn't truly experienced proper humidity. Their accommodations had nice airflow though so the change in weather luckily hadn't affected Jamie's sleep much, this was probably a very good thing for other people as well as it meant that she could still pretend to care about whatever another person had decided to share with her. Sue her, sometimes pretending to care could get you really valuable information, and if not she most likely didn't have to see any of these people again and could blame her abrasiveness on the extreme heat. The day had been going decently well so far though, she had had her walk around the area taking in the gorgeous surroundings she found herself in and had managed to fit in some people watching as well. You never know when even the smallest bit of information could prove useful in the future, she had even noted the same girl multiple times, each time doing so over the top kind that she wondered how the girl could even walk around, what if she accidentally stepped on a weed?! Jamie wasn't sure the stranger would be able to survive such an obvious act of evil, she'd probably break down in tears holding the broken stem in her hands while sobbing about how she didn't mean to hurt it. A small smile graced her face at the overdramatic image that flitted through her mind, others might think the thought ridiculous however she had actually seen it happen before. She had taken full advantage of the boy, who gave her practically anything anytime she just made it seem like she had any less than positive emotion. Which is why when she saw the girl face properly on her way back she realised that a golden opportunity had presented itself. Jamie had of course done her research on all of the Quidditch teams that she could possibly be facing during the summer games - and while yes she had already faced Durmstrang twice there was a non-0 possibility of once again facing off against the team that had made Jamie more competitive than ever - and one of the players she recognised was non other than the doormat girl Jamie had noticed throughout the day. Now Jamie wasn't one to jump to conclusions about people, she herself was an expert on hiding her true intentions and putting on a front, however there was no way that the amount of kindness this kid had shown could be 100% an act. There had to be at least a partial truth to it which Jamie knew just how to exploit, she was a woman of many talents after all. Grabbing her waterbottle Jamie quickly hid it somewhere inconspicuous but not well enough to be impossible to find, making sure to stay out of sight of the other girl, and formulated her masterplan. Walking over to the Durmstrang student Jamie put on a soft smile, looking as though she was slightly desperate, and made sure that the girl would see her scan the area as if she were looking for something. "Hi, I'm really sorry to bother you but have you maybe seen a water bottle somewhere around here? I must have accidentally dropped it or forgotten to pick it up as I can't find it anymore, and with this weather I'd rather not be without it for too long." She chuckled, feigning a more subdued and calm demeanour, hoping that her observations of the girl hadn't been too far from the truth. [STA 7] [EVA 8] [STR 10] [WIS 5] [ARC 1] [ACC 14]

The least expected greeted Liliya Starkova as she, skirt ruffled, the top unbuttons of her shirt unceremoniously open, a jacket drawn tightly across her chest, was approached by an unfamiliar figure, English rapid with an amalgamation of desperation and anxiety. Her eyes narrowed as she too disparaging attempted to catch onto the end of her words. Eventually, perhaps a pace too slow than what would have been socially acceptable, she pieced together her words, and managed slips of sentiment in response. She was sorry to bother her — she did not have such a need. She left a water bottle somewhere — Liliya’s eyes naturally scanned the periphery. She would rather not be left in such weather without it — Liliya nodded with polite acceptance.
The drafts of winter was settling in on Castelobruxo’s sultry rainforests, the humidity of the rainforests creating an unbearable atmosphere of chill and moisture combined. Cooled droplets seemed to cling to her, a foreign embrace she had never asked for. She was gracious enough to ignore the stranger’s conclusion, instead choosing to laugh along at her chuckle. It was forced, and evidently so.
Her mind did not so swiftly reach the conclusion that the she-devil in disguise ought not to be trusted. Perhaps it ought to have.
“Oh! Ah- при… hullo.” Her response was one still caught by surprise, and in the unexpected nature of the odd greeting, she fumbled between her languages in search for a reply, the final settling on English uncomfortably loaded. She offered her a meagre smile as her cheeks flushed. Slightly embarrassed, a little thrown off-centre by the sudden request, she thought to make up for it through her helpfulness. Her accent hit stronger than she expected, even in repetition of the stranger’s words as she attempted to confirm the lost object. “Water bottle?”
Whatever the stranger might provide in return, whether it be a nod or a word of affirmation, Liliya would return it with thoughtfulness as her eyes scanned the location once more. She lifted a hand to her chin, and bit her lip, eyes searching. She stood straighter, then confirmed her oblivious nature. She had not seen it, nor could see it without breaking away from the conversation to look under jackets or in corners. “No… but I can help you look for it? Tell me, what is its colour? Shape?”
Those particularly unpractical ‘Stanley’s’ seem to be popular among her Muggle-born friends lately. She wandered, with half a heart of curiosity, if the stranger would indulge in such things.
She took the opportunity to study the unfamiliar girl, a young woman of composure. Standing quite tall for her age, Liliya’s eyes had to flick upwards to meet hers, though only a petite yet nimble 5’1, she had grown accustomed to such accommodations. Although her features were unremarkable, they seemed to carry sincere kindness, and within this moment of shared bonding over a lost water bottle, those eyes seemed truthful in their lost nature. She nodded, and if given any confirmation, would dutifully begin to flip through strewn clothes and search behind dark angles in an attempt to find one matching her description.
Between her swiftly moving hands, she would offer the stranger a few glances. She had soon grown tired of referring to the girl in such a crude manner, and without much ceremony, would offer her own name, hoping that the courtesy would be one returned. “Liliya Starkova,” she said, voice soft, eyes still focused on the smudge of colour that could have signalled her water bottle. “I come from Durmstrang Institute.”
She offered the girl a curious smile. “And you?”

![]() It seemed like she hadn't been obvious enough with her previous 'search', the Durmstrang student reacting slightly startled at Jamie's admittedly rapid fire questioning. This might be easier than she was expecting it to be though. As the girl was gathering her thoughts it seemed like most of her hesitance came from the fact that Jamie had opened up the conversation in quite confident English. Although she did speak with an accent Jamie had always prided herself on her ability to speak multiple languages - some better than others -, an ability that had been practically a given in her household with how often her parents had travelled to others places. With them having shared their knowledge with her, that being able to communicate was always the most important skill, even if she didn't speak the other persons language as long as she could get her message across she could get pretty much anything done. This meant that she could communicate in more languages than most, which in this case would be very useful. Filtering through her mind to find the bits and pieces of Russian she had learnt over the years, hoping that communicating in the girls native language would keep the kindness she was seemingly earning herself. At the very least she seemed to have been convincing enough that her victim had believed her story, asking a few clarifying questions about her lost property. Dumbing down her knowledge of the Russian language slightly, as to hopefully evoke a sense of respect in the other that she was trying to communicate in her own language, Jamie nodded along to her questions. "Ah, yes. My water .... cup? This big" holding her hands above each other to show the size of the about 1 litre water bottle. "Colour is dark blue, and .... Oh metal? I don't know the Russian. It keeps it cold" She continued, pausing every so often to seem as though she was looking for the right words, throwing in an English one when it felt appropriate. "Thank you for helping. It is very warm. I know a little bit Russian if easier?" Allowing her panicked exterior to relax ever so slightly, hoping that it would be picked up on as relief and gratitude for the help. As soon as she had provided the description though they started their search, with Jamie strategically avoiding her hiding spot not wanting to find it too easily. While she headed over to look behind a few seats that littered the area she heard the kind girl once again speak, not having found the 'missing' water bottle yet but to introduce herself. Before answering she allowed a slight surprised expression to appear on her face at the 'new' information. "Oh, my name is Jamie Carville. My school is Mahoutokoro, but I am born in France. I play Quidditch with Durmstrang two times, you have a very good team." A note of admiration slipping through her voice, at least that she didn't have to fake. They did have a very good team, one that Jamie was determined to one day pummel into the ground. "Do you play?" [STA 7] [EVA 8] [STR 10] [WIS 5] [ARC 1] [ACC 14]
