Socialising

My Grandma had decided that, as I was almost in my third year, I had to start doing more social events over the summer. So, my aunt and uncle had arranged for their friend, a wizard who they had met at an international event when they were younger, to come over with his family, for a dinner. But, of course they forgot to tell me until the morning of it.
So, after eating a small lunch, I went into the kitchen, planning to take my broom which had been left in there for some reason. My Grandma was standing by the oven, with five cookbooks laid out around her. She had pots on the top of the oven, and was putting something into the oven when I walked up next to her.
She saw me, and jumped slightly.
"Cinder, what are you doing here? Why aren't you getting the dining room ready?"
"Ready? For what?"
"The guests! They are coming at six! You need to clean up your stuff, then you need to get changed into something suitable."
I grimaced slightly. Suitable meant a dress. My grandma looked at me, and sighed.
"Spark will be up to get you sorted out."
A few hours later, after far too much tidying up, and setting the table, I was up in my bedroom, staring into the mirror. I was stuck in a light blue dress, made of some weird meshy material. I almost fully refused to wear it, until I found out that it used to belong to my mum, when she was about my age. I put on my boots underneath it, glad that it was floor length, so that no-one would be able to see them.
Then, I was standing downstairs by the door, at five minutes to six. I stood next to my uncle, who had even changed into a suit. The guest must be posh. Then, it was time for my grandma's little speech.
"Now, remember to be welcoming to the guests. Spark, you can lead them to the table and get everyone sat down, while I make sure dinner is in the oven, warming through. Cinder, you entertain the children."
I nodded, annoyed that I was given such a bad role. But, I was going to stick with it. My Grandma wasn't in a mood to be able to negotiate.
I waited until there was a knock, and then looked to my uncle. He stepped forwards to open it, but got stopped by my Grandma, who pushed me forwards lightly. I sighed. I opened the door, and looked at the people standing there.
"Bonjour. Bonne soir." Hello. Good evening
Then, I moved out of the way, standing next to my uncle, while my grandma and aunt moved forwards, greeting the guests.
I looked at the younger guests.
"Bienvenue. Je m'appelle Cinder." Welcome. I am Cinder.

Kira CinderIt was finally summer. Her first year at Beauxbâtons hadn’t been much different from any other school. If it was up to her, she would’ve been up at dawn to go to skating rink before anyone else. No parents, no Sasha, just her and her beloved skates. Of course, her parents weren’t about to let a stubborn 12 year old go out by themselves at dawn, who knew what was still going on then? Besides, they were going to meet people today. Some family with whom her parents had were friends with. Apparently they had kids that went to their school as well.
Instead she spent the morning at home, revising her magical theory until cook had called her down for lunch. Only then had she rolled herself out of bed and left her room, still in pajamas. Lunch was a messy affair, her parent argued quietly about one thing or another, Anastasia screaming with her little three year old fury because she didn’t have her favourite princess plate and she and Sasha sitting quietly, completely used to the chaos around them.
After lunch, nap time and before she knew it it was time to get ready. She sat in front of her wardrobe, wondering what to wear. First impressions were everything, the way you dress could make or break you within seconds. Kira decided on a navy blue top, white maxi skirt and blue bandana. Casual but still proper enough. She braided a couple strands of her hair before quickly applying some lipgloss, grabbing a purse and heading downstairs to her awaiting family. Well, most of it anyways, Nastya (Anastasia) would stay here.
Half an hour later they arrived in front of a large wooden door. It was five to six, right on time. The door swung open and a girl greeted them them. She had flaming red hair and wore an eyepatch. Interesting… They seemed around the same age and Kira smiled politely as she entered.
”Bonsoir,” she replied before introducing herself as well, ”Moi, c’est Kira. Merci de nous avoir invité.” Good evening, I’m Kira. Thank you for having us.WC: 357/200@Cinder BlazeOOC note: Soz that it’s kinda long
