Summer Child

@Simon Kincaid
Date: July this year
Emiline had owled her aunt to see if she could stay over for a week or so during summer just because her mum would be overworking in her muggle job all through summer and her dad was not welcome back here. Good riddance. Luckily she hadn't seen him for a good six months, or at least last summer. But his behaviour still affected her to this day. Any time someone who looked similar raised their voice, she would instantly be on edge, and almost have a panic attack. Her hand would pull her wand out defensively. An automatic response from the fear of the past.
She had talked to some of her friends about it. Simon Kincaid, Avery Grey being some of them.... but last summer she was seriously thinking of telling her father's boss everything. Tired of feeling scared and walking on eggshells around him whenever he gets drunk. Emiline assumes that it's stress from his ministry job that causes him to drink till drunk but the cause of why he started is unclear.
Luckily, with help from her friends and lots of owls sent, she has enjoyed this summer so far. But it was too good to last.
At around four in the afternoon, while Emiline was sitting reading some textbooks for some of the summer work set. She heard the sound of someone appariting just outside. She stood, curious. Moving the beige curtains out the way, she looked out the window and froze.
The black messy hair, the sharp green eyes, the bottle in hand. He was herd. Emiline's heart squeezed in fear. Why was he here?! Why now? Why spoil the wonderful silence they had.
BANG. The front door gets forced open. Emiline's mum is still at work. She was in danger definitely now. Grabbing her prepared rucksack, letting Ashton out his cage, and pulling out her wand, she climbed quickly out the window. Her father's steps loud on the stairs
Emiline's poor heart beating way too fast for what she was physically doing. She shuffled down the tiles of the roof, towards the lower garage roof. She heard her father's angry yelling behind her.
Without looking she half jumped, half climbed off the garage roof.
Running as fast as she could, she didn't look back. Her feet took her towards an area she'd been once before. When her mother had got called back into work, and then Simon came along.
Her breathing was short and laboured, running on the edge of a panic attack. She was hyper-focused on getting to that place. Without slowing, she opened the door and went straight to the side of the counter. Tears welling up quickly, now she was more safe. She made eye contact with Maggie, her blonde hair and kind eyes looking like a safe haven. In the eye contact, her lip trembled and breathing didn't slow down from the rum. Definitely hyperventilating.
Despite the many people looking at her, she slid down the side of the counter, bringing her knees to her chest. The sharp inhales working her diaphragm. Tears cutting down her face.
Panic attack:"C-can't breathe" She said between gasps, her panic attack in full swing. Her diaphragm working overtime to try and let her breathe. Her nails digging into her palms trying to anchor herself without much luck. Her heartbeat too loud in her ears, her throat too tight. Her hands clammy. Her eyes wide and unfocused as tears streamed down.
