They arrived at Madam Malkin's around 1 P.M. It was definitely one of the more handsome shops in Diagon Alley, and it showed almost no sign of decay compared to Ollivanders, and Flourish and Blotts. The wizard was already there waiting for them, with a new cauldron, copper brass scales, and glass phials. He waved at them as they walked over."Hello again! I see you had no issue at Flourish and Blotts. It's a good thing that you came now, they're aren't as busy after 1." The wizard then walked into the shop, followed by Josh, his mother, and then finally his father. A witch was busy changing the color of some fabric at the counter with her wand as they entered, and spoke in an overly-polite voice when she saw them."Hogwarts? We can have this young man fitted right away" The witch smiled at Josh, and gestured for him to follow her."One of you may also come with him." She spoke to his parents and the wizard."I'll come, I'm his mother." Josh and his mother left his father and the wizard, and entered the back of the shop where a few other children were standing on stepping stools and being fitted for their robes. All of them were accompanied by one of their parents (most of them being their mothers)."I'll need you to stand on this stool young man. You'll be needing three black robes, correct?" She spoke as she opened a nearby trunk filled with black fabric."Yes, that's right. Also a plain black pointed hat, protective gloves, and a winter cloak" His mother spoke as she read the list. Josh had gotten onto the stepping stool as she walked back with her arms full of black fabric."Do all three of them have to be black? It's a bit of a boring color." The witch had pulled one of the fabrics over him, the two other large robes we're floating in mid air."Yes Josh, they have to be black. That's your school uniform." She spoke in a stern voice which stopped Josh from trying to argue. The witch began fitting him carefully, and all her sitching patterns on the robe he was wearing we're being imitated by two stitching needles floating and working on the two other robes all on their own."I never really liked Hogwarts robes as well, but you get used to them after wearing them for seven years, right madam?" She spoke as she stitched carefully."Oh, I-I wouldn't know. My husband and I aren't magical." His mother spoke, looking slightly embarrassed."Oh, so this young man is the first wizard in the family then? You must be very excited." Josh nodded uncomfortably. The robes felt itchy and made him sweat compared to the uniform at his muggle primary school. The thought of having to wear these five days a week was not pleasant in his mind."Don't you worry young man. The ministry has laws that make sure muggle-borns can properly receive an education and find work without being discriminated against." She had completed fitting Josh, and his two other robes were also finished, still floating in mid air. She now walked over to a few other trunks, to get his hat, gloves and winter cloak."Wasn't always like that. A little over two decades ago, there were these beliefs that coming from an all wizard family made you superior, and granted you access to better opportunities. A whole lot of tosh if you ask me." She walked back to them with her arms full, the robe that Josh was wearing magically floated off of him and into her arms, and the two other robes did the same."I'll check you out then, this way." She walked back to the front of the shop, closely followed by Josh and his mother. His father was still waiting at the counter, and started counting galleons and sickles out of his coin sack when he saw them."Is that everything on the list?" The witch offloaded all the clothing items onto the counter and spoke."Everything a new Hogwarts student will need, fashion wise sir." His father paid the witch, and they left with everything Josh needed to begin his first year at Hogwarts in 21 days. The followed their escorting wizard back towards the Leaky Cauldron to return to Muggle London. Having all his school supplies made Josh even more excited about going to Hogwarts, and he couldn't wait for September 1st. Despite his growing excitement, he felt that he preferred his regular muggle clothes over the itchy, plain black robes.
