Encounter at Lunch
As sun went up at its peak and the day already past a half, Millie walked down to the Great Hall. Smiling to whoever met her eyes, she followed along behind them as they had same destination, at this exact time, to fill their stomach.
The mouthwatering aroma of food immediately come to Millie's nostril without warning, almost made her stomach produced an embarrassing sound. Millie patiently waited for her turn behind one of the students to arrive to the table, while she occasionally glanced at the variant of foods to choose what she should eat today.
Finally took a seat at the table, Millie curled her lip as she saw her favorite dishes her mother loves to made for her. Without much thinking, she scooped it to another bowl and started eating, not realizing she's not the only one in the room as she too preoccupied with her meal.
When she finished her meal, Millie she did not go straight back to her next class nor dormitory. She pulled out the spells textbook she just studied hours ago, intended to to use the remaining time here until the next class started.
At that time she started to focus on her reading, Millie slightly heard a girl's grumbled, not too far from where she sat, about how she hate to read the thick, boring text book she must do to passed her class. Actually, Millie not that mind her as she was afraid the girl would likely tell her to mind her own business. So that, she just continue her reading.
Until a thud came from Millie's side. She found a girl with red-gold emblem sitting in the floor with books scattered all around her. Millie instinctively got up and help her back to her feet while also picking up her scattered books.

@Millie Ann
Ira could not focus in the common room while the others were enjoying a chatter or having fun on their own. Ira was the only one having trouble while doing her homework.
"Well I guess its lunch time anyways. Who likes studying in the weekends? Its so frustrating!" Ira said gathering up all her supplies and books to go have lunch in the great hall.
There she sat in the corner without wanting to be bothered by anybody. Honestly? She would love some distractions but she was in a time clutch. She hurriedly ate some Hot chocolate, pastries at head, a bread and whatever curry was there on the table probably beans as Ira had no idea what she put in her mouth.
The hall was buzzing with laughters of other students, aroma of continental savory dishes, desserts from unknown lands and delicious treats Ira had only seen in her dreams. Too bad she couldnt taste all of them.
She was busy scribbling with her quill on the parchment paper when she heard a girl sit beside her. A Ravenclaw.
"It would be nice to take help from a Ravenclaw, she seems around my age too...maybe not. Maybe I should try to do these on my own. I got this!" She thought scribbling some more in her 'homework'
"Merlin be damned! His beard be damned! His lineage be damned!" she complained some more and stuck her wand in her hair.
Potions was a tough subject for her, maybe not as tough as Herbology. She hates theoretical knowledge more than anything. Worst of all things happened when she mistakenly upturned the ink bottle on her paper, the quill in her hand, books on the other and she sat there in disbelief for a straight 5 minutes.
"Huh? Huh? HUHHHHHHH??????!!!" She exclaimed in agony as her books fell one after another while she was trying to hold the ink from spreading. The girl beside her looked at her in confusion, scared as Ira was losing her remaining sanity.
"Crap! Now I scared a person through my weirdness! Why Ira Why do you do it all the time!"
"Uh...excuse me please. I didnt mean to startle you, I was just trying to get my homework done haha" she smiled, ink smeared on her cheeks, picking her books from the floor and awkwardly trying to look away from embarrassment.

Seeing how the girl trying hard not to looking at her, Millie can understand how embarrassed she was. But surely, Millie didn't want to make the situation worse to merely asked is she okay or not. From how the ink even got her cheeks is already an answer if the answer is not. Absolutely not.
"It's okay. I know that some subjects are really challenging," Millie said as she smiled to reassure the girl. "I also still getting used to some of the classes, especially the one related to magic. But more over ..."
Millie produced a handkerchief from her pocket and held it out the girl, as she pointed her own cheek, "Here. You got alot of ink in your face."
The girl flushed, almost matching to her red emblem, and quickly took the handkerchief from Millie's hand as she rubbed it to her cheeks. Millie can't help but smile, as she looked back down at her table.
"Oh? Is that potion homework for tomorrow?" Millie asked, almost without sorting it before she spoke it out loud, because that was the exact homework she had just finished last night. In other words, this girl she talking to must be also first year like her! What a coincidence! "I have finished that yesterday. Maybe I can help you with that?"

Ira was taken aback by the hospitality of the other girl. Its her who helps others usually to get up or do stuff but for the first time in a long while she was asked if she was okay. It was her family and best friends who usually take notice of her but another girl giving Ira her own handkerchief even after encountering such embarrassing feat.
"Thank you!" she said getting up and removing the ink stain from her cheek.
"Oh this? Its the cure for boils. I dont understand the concept much. Its very annoying! What is the purpose of doing this even? Ughh." she complained as if it were not her fault for this complexity. If she only had payed attention in class instead of talking to her friends, Ira wouldn't have found this that difficult. Her friends are thankfully smarter than her. They took notes and did their homework on time while our girl was busy trying to sign up for Quidditch and research about house points.
"Sorry I had completely forgotten to introduce myself! I am Ira Ray, First year, Gryffindor! And you are?" she could care less for her unfinished homeworks, who lets go of the opportunity to make new friends by wasting time on homeworks? She just wants to time pass her way through the seven years and expect the professors to pass her while she plays quidditch, makes lots of friends, uncovers some insane secrets of the castle, try to figure out how to be an Auror (without studying) and find lots of friends. That is what her aim of life is. And it is impossible.

"Millie. Ravenclaw. I'm first year too," she said with wide smile as she took her outstretched hand. If Ira doesn't introduce herself first, Millie probably would also forgot to do that too, even after their problem here is done. Her mind is already split to one and another, forget to do the most things she should do in socializing.
"For potion class, I think you could just focus on its practical aspects, especially if you have trouble on its theoretical parts," Millie come back to their main purpose as she don't really know what to talk about beside this topic. She pondering for a moment, then added, "You can just memorize which ingredients is, whatever is needed, and if there is any additional procedure or criteria you should or shouldn't do in each potion you'll make. I can help summarize the most important thing from my notes to you for this homework."
Talking about potion class, Millie can't help but think about her second favorite chemistry class in her old school back at her home. Because her natural was always curious about everything she thought that was interesting, she always like to do some experimenting like that. To do this and that would happened, or to do that and this would happened instead. So of course, that kind of lesson couldn't easily be understand from theoretical things only. Or it will be half-hearted or even deathly boring.
"And since this homework for tomorrow, you really need to do it today, Ira," Millie took out her pocket-sized note she always brought in her robe, checking her schedule like she is the most busiest girl in Hogwarts. "Where and when do you want start working on it?"

"Nice to meet you Millie!" Ira smiler brightly as she was in a time clutch she didnt want to waste time on talking.
"So I will have to understand the theory first? Aww man its such a pain in the ass! What do you mean you, I have to read the whole chapter?!" she complained looking at the textbook with utter disgust. If Ira hated anything else apart from nasty insects it was rote learning or learning in general. Not the ones from random places but the actually important topics that come in the examination. She would rather spend her time in detention than giving exams.
"Well the professor has asked in question number 7, what is the primary use for cure of boils...I dont understand its purpose. You said you have already done it right? Do you know about this? Sorry I don't wish to copy your work or anything just give me a gist! You see I am a little bit dumb in topics like these"
Ira didnt like turning people down when they had volunteered to help by themselves. She didnt mind asking for help but mostly she wouldn't ask unless thats the last straw at hand. This was one of those times. The professor had said this homework would impact her grades and might come in the examinations, so she had no other choice. A little help cannot hurt you. She also didnt like to study alone. It was boring and time consuming. She desperately needed another living being to help her from turning insane. This bane of her existance aka homeworks makes her mind dizzy every time she comes across one. God knows how she is still able to successfully pass in her exams.

Millie chuckled, already liking Ira's open and straightforward nature in front of her even if they're just met and know each other. That one thing she finds hard to do. If only Millie were more expressive just like Ira, she would likely had many friends right now beside her bunkmates.
"It's okay. I got your back, Ira," she said. "If you hate the idea to read, then what learning method do you prefer? With mindmapping? While moving? Whatever you like, let's change it so you can understand more easily and totally not feel burdened by something you don't like."
Whichever aspect Ira mostly hate to the point she seemed very upset with that homework, Millie still wants to help her by triggering Ira's own abilities. She surely can just spoiled her homework to her, but for what reason if Ira can't still understand from her own part. Millie believes that everyone is smart. With their own way. For instance, she doesn't like sports, let alone excel them. Instead, she quite skilled in field that can be mastered by reading diligently.
"Okay, let's see, I'll give you a clue, but if you still can't get it, you really should open your book again from the very beginning and start to make a note for yourself. In every class. How about it?"

"Mindmapping? What's that? You have a map in your mind?" Ira thought to herself.Ira Ray______________________________________
Gryffindor|First year|N/A
She wasn't really well acquainted with these sorts of ideas. She cared very little about studying and on top of all she is born and brought up in a Wizarding community, stuff like these is very foreign to her.
"If you ask me, to be honest I would want to quit studying and cancel it all at once! Aghhh! What a hassle!" she complained putting her down on the table and grabbing a bunch of her hair out of frustration.
"Oh alright! Great idea Millie! Oh my gosh you are so nice! Ok ok so its this part... the main ingredient in cure for boils...like there are so many what do you think I should write?"
Ira could finally get somewhere through this hell. I mean isnt it is always better to have a friend suffer with you than suffering alone? Homework was a great suffering for Ira. She would rather play quidditch all day. She liked knowing and learning but studying as in doing homeworks or giving exams is a nightmare for her.
"Would you please please please help me out! This is insane! Like how do you Ravenclaws always study? Urghh I think this will drive me crazy!" Ira said begging Millie to save her ass. If it were her best friend she would've directly commanded to hand over his homework but our stupid girl has this much social understanding to know that its not nice to ask a stranger that question.

ReducioI think we should let our characters interact a bit more...dw you dont have to go in details lol, just go along with it or if you want to end here its alr too

"Of course! Let's see you have the ingredients first," Millie said as she nodded her head, and put out her notes as she fortunately still kept the lesson notes inside. "Here. You must need all of this before you make them."
"And so on about theory, I think it shouldn't be that difficult to remember since this homework we still had learnt about three potions for our introduction," Millie added, smiling to reassure Ira. "Seriously, you can take your time, so I think you can do it. Just believe in yourself. But ... it'll be different story if you're already unwilling to do it," Millie paused, thinking if she can used this one of her last punchline to Ira or not, "I mean, where's the challenge if you're already deceived you can't do it? I can't help you with that ..."
Millie didn't know anymore. Sure she knew one of another Gryffindor even though not that deep. She noticed that most of them (again, this doesn't mean all of them) triggered by it's so-called challenge and dislike the plain, boring ideas. It is merely just Millie's observation, but still worth it to prove it, right? Moreover, the important thing is, she really couldn't help if Ira is actually unwilling to, like she suspected it.
