• ~ | Arriving Hogwarts and Getting Sorted! | ~ •
The train moved, moving its destination to Hogwarts. Should be exciting, right?
Clementine sits in one of the compartments inside, peering out towards the view outside the window—Scottish Highlands. The view was amazing. Her father talked about it a few weeks ago, talking about the beauty and the atmosphere of it. She wanted to see for herself if her father's claims are what they appear to be. Now that she's seeing it before her own eyes. She's mesmerized.
After what felt like hours (just minutes by the way), the train stopped. The other children started to move their way out, stepping out of the trains steps and Clementine did the same. Once she got out, she looked around. Oh boy, is this really it?? She didn't know where to go, it was kind of overwhelming because of course, she's new.
She thought she was going to get lost, but a girl—who had ginger hair looked towards her direction, looking concerned walked over to her. She looked like a first year too.
"Hello! I can't help but see you're a bit lost. Can I help you get to the castle?" The girl asked with a kind smile.
"That'll be great! Thank you so much." Clementine smiled back, accepting the girl's help.
Both of them navigated the paths where the boats should be. There was lots of people, mostly first years like her. She felt nervous, but at the same time, excited. Once everything was settled, the girl said her goodbye and left her alone as she got onto a boat and sat down. Then, it started to move and drift across the Black Lake. Clementine was starting to get impatient since she really wants to see Hogwarts like a few weeks ago.
Finally, the magical structure of Hogwarts has come to view. Clementine's eyes widened. It looked absolutely remarkable, more than her father told her about it!
They arrived at last, hopping off the boat and stepping onto the stone floor. Groups of students huddled closely, standing and waiting for the heavy oak doors to open. Once it opened, everyone, including Clementine, stepped in. They walked for a bit around the corridors, until they reached the Great Hall and walked inside.
If the outside was beautiful, what about the inside? She gasped when she saw the interior in the Great Hall. The enchanted evening sky by the ceiling with loads of flying candles, the 4 long tables, etc. She swallowed as she walked over the front with the other students. One of the teachers got up from the staff table and grabbed a hat—called the Sorting Hat and placed it on top of a wooden stool in front of them. The Sorting Ceremony will begin shortly. Oh goodie, hope she gets sorted into a good house. Definitely not Slytherin. Hopefully.
As the professor greeted them, explained how the sorting works, the 4 houses and rules, it was time for the sorting to be started. One by one, names were called. Each time a student gets sorted, either one of the four houses cheer and welcome their new member as they walk towards their table.
Tick tock. Tick tock. Tick—
"Clementine Thornevale!"
Here it comes. This is it. Part of her was hoping she'd get Gryffindor, but who knows? With a heavy sigh of nervousness, Clementine walked up to the stool, sat on it and waited. The professor places the Sorting Hat on top of her head. The Sorting Hat mutters and whisper for a bit, mentioning her traits, her potential, etc. Then, with a loud shout...
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
She breathed a sigh of relief, but she also felt a bit disappointed. She was hoping for Gryffindor, but she doesn't let it eat her up. At least she didn't get Slytherin, yay? The Hufflepuff table erupted with smiles and cheers, welcoming their new member! She smiles, finally accepting her house and walks straight to the Hufflepuff table. She sits down on the long bench while her classmates greets her.
She watches the other students getting sorted, her chin against her palm, waiting for the feast to begin. In her mind, she thinks about how this year will treat her, but she doesn't stress herself yet. She just hopes for a good year, friends, and more knowledge to learn about magic and the wizarding world. What harm could be done?
