Physical Description: At first glance, you’ll notice two brown eyes and slightly long, messy brown hair. The boy has a typical build for an eleven-year-old—neither overweight nor skinny. His physique is a bit stronger than others his age because he played football on the Aldham kids’ team before he got his letter to Hogwarts. He often wears zip-sweaters and hoodies, jeans that have seen their fair share of wear, with a few holes in them, and shoes that are often unlaced because he usually forgets to tie them, as he gets easily distracted. If you spot the boy in the hallway, you’ll notice that he's a boy who prefers wearing clothes that fit him comfortably.

Mental Description: He is a boy who always finds himself in slightly bad situations, always moving ahead without thinking whether his decision is right or wrong; you could say he sometimes steps on the wrong foot with the people he meets on his journey through life. He isn’t used to failure, as he has always been urged to perform perfectly by his parents and older brother, which tends to slightly anger and upset him, especially when his older brother comments negatively towards Joshua after a bad football match where they’d lost. In school, he wasn’t bullied much because he was one of the more popular kids his age, which made him rather outgoing, though sometimes overconfident in his abilities to perform well in every class. He isn't a huge fan of losing, mostly because of the pressure from his father and older brother to perform at his best, and he often reacts quite negatively when he feels like a huge failure.

Biography: He grew up comfortably in Aldham, in a classic English 2-story house with 7 bedrooms, in a middle-class family, with a father who worked at Royal Oldham Hospital and a mother who taught at Aldeham Prep School. His big brother went to Aldeham School and was nearing the end of his last 3 years in school. The relationship between Joshua and his big brother, Matthew, had always been rather tense and competitive, especially when it came to performing well in school and on the football field. His relationship with his mother, Jessica, had always been good, yet sometimes quite strict, as she was his math teacher at school, but when it came to brotherly arguments, she’d always try to protect Joshua when he was sad because of the usual brotherly bullying at home. His father, Ryan, on the other hand, was a rather serious man who’d preferred that things were neat and perfect in the home, and he hated it when arguments occurred during dinner, especially when it was between Joshua and Matthew. In Aldham, Joshua had plenty of friends at school, though he usually spent time with three: Oliver, Justin, and Andrew. He could always rely on Oliver, Justin, and Andrew, as they had been by his side from the very beginning of his first day at school. They always went to football together, so it was only natural that they became so close.

First Instance of Magic: His first experience with magic happened at age ten, on an early morning as he was on his way to attend Aldham Prep School. It was an unusual day: his mother, who normally woke him, had overslept by thirty minutes. Only after several calls and texts did she get up hurriedly, rushing with loud footsteps toward Joshua’s bedroom door, where he heard a forceful knock followed by, “Get up, Joshua, we’re late.” With a sigh, he rolled over, opened his eyes, and glanced at the clock on his bedside table: nine o’clock. He rolled over again as the numbers finally began to make sense in his head ‘’Bullocks, I’m late for English!’’ He hurried out of bed and ran to find a classic English private school uniform as quickly as possible, opened the door, and rushed to the bathroom, quickly washing his face and brushing his teeth. ‘’Coming, Mom!’’ He finally yelled as he looked out from the bathroom door, down onto the stairs leading to the front door, kitchen, and living room.

As he finished brushing his teeth, he ran down the steps to where his mother was already standing, all dressed, with a few pieces of toast in her hand, jam, and cheese. His mother smiled, and it was quite clear that she had been waiting for a while as she said‘’Did you remember to feed Tim? You know he can’t be without food all day.’’His mothers phone suddenly rang, and she answered the phone, making her way into the kitchen,‘’Hallo, it’s Jessica speaking’’ just as his mother had told him about Tim, which he’d forgotten to feed, he rushed towards the stairs, then BANG, he tripped over a football he’d forgotten he had placed beside the staircase late last night and a sharp pain rushed up from his left leg and he started crying, as he sat himself up on the lowest staircase, putting his hand on his leg where the pain was the worst. ‘’Stupid football!’’ He yelled and looked towards the football angrily. Suddenly, the football began to blow air out, and his eyes widened as he stared at it, now completely flat. "We’ll be right there, sorry for being late."She hung up the phone and walked into the hallway again, looking at her son Joshua and then the football ‘’What on earth was that racket? Are you alright, dear?’’ She said, worried, looking at his leg, then at the football. ‘’What happened to the football?’’ He’d hear her ask, Joshua didn’t really know what to say, because he couldn’t really explain it himself, all he could say was ‘’I…I don’t know, Mom.’’
