Leo's 'Not so Water-Vial'

How could he forget his cauldron?

Leo was clumsy. It's the truth. He was so clumsy he had threatened to break the laws of physics many times. He had broken his ankle just by slipping by a banana peel on grass. He can walk while holding books, slip and fall, and get hit by his own books again. And obviously, clumsy people had forgetfulness too. But how could Leo forget an entire cauldron? Why didn't he remember his cauldron when he was walking empty handed to his dorm while everyone else has something huge in their hands?

So, now he was on his way to the potions classroom, walking briskly, his water bottle in hand. He once again asked himself if he forgot anything else other than the cauldron. Quill and feather? Yes. His textbook? Wish he could dump it in a trashcan, but yes, it's on his bed. The potion? Oh no... He forgot the....Babbling Broth? Beverage? Whatever it was they were brewing last Potions class, he had neatly poured it into a vial, and promptly forgotten to carry that too along with his classroom too.

The classroom was suffocating. Not that it was crowded or anything, it just felt that way. Leo reached for his water bottle, shaped like a medium sized vial, and took a sip. He had had the bottle since he was 6, and, even though it was small enough to require multiple fillings per day to feel hydrated, Leo was quite attached to the thing. He remembered walking around, calling it his 'water vial', and he still did sometime. His childhood friends did tease him about it, especially that one next-door girl who kept on stealing it just to piss Leo off. Setting his 'water vial' beside his cauldron, which was still thankfully where he left it on a table in the far corner, his vial of the...Oh, that's what it's called. Babbling Beverage.

He wasn't that good at potions; He absolutely hated the subject. Yet, he often found himself in front of a cauldron. In his free time, he tried to improve himself so he won't fail in the subject. He looked around, and found multiple vials of various sizes and shapes, on the shelves, on nearby tables, even a few on his table, seeming dangerously similar to the design of his own water bottle; the thought of him taking a sip out of those vials mistaking it for water was frightening. On top of that, he did read somewhere that some potions tasted closely to water as well. He decided not to think about that possibility.

Then, something- or rather, someone, caught Leo's eyes. A girl. First year probably. Hufflepuff. She looked pissed off, for some reason, as if her cauldron was offending her. Maybe that's why it wasn't lit yet. Leo had to stop his urge to go and talk to her. She did look upset, but that doesn't mean he had to intervene (He learned that the hard way from childhood). And that girl seemed scary. Familiar scary. He realized he may have seen that girl before. Maybe he had seen her during the sorting ceremony? On the train? Maybe somewhere else?

The air around her seemed to say, 'This girl is trouble." Yet, she seemed oddly familiar, especially the way she seemed to be so pissed off about something. Taking his water vial, he walked towards the girl, taking a sip from the vial. It tasted a bit off, but he didn't take notice of it, his eyes fixed on the girl. His curiosity had to be satisfied, no matter what. Best case scenario, he makes a good friend. Worst case scenario, she'd shout at him. He had nothing to loose.

Except, Leo felt off, as if he was about to swallow something awful. Or maybe he already had swallowed something awful.

Potions Class

Potions and Madeline Faye Tomlinson had never been friends.

That was still putting it nicely........

PATIENCE was the KEY to this class and THAT was something she didn't had.....not a BIT!

Too much waiting. Too much measuring. Too much standing still and pretending she cared whether a root was sliced clockwise or counterclockwise.

She just kept on glaring at her cauldron. It was confirmed the cauldron hated her!
She couldn't care less to try again and again and ..... you know what I'm trying to imply right?

Potions was just frustrating and she didn't even have Lils with her for entertainment today....
Well, it was weird because of this reason too.
Since Lily has been there with Maddy for everything. It's just somehow Ms Lily Clarke had managed to catch a cold and was feeling a bit under the weather to come with Maddy to class today.

That was when she felt....the feeling that someone was watching her.

She turned her neck to see another puff boy walking towards her......IS HE DRINKING HIS POTION!?

Maddy watched as the potion reacted on him and his hair changed color.

She couldn't help but start laughing at him instead of helping him.

"Why would you ever do that?"

She said as she laughed at him as he failed to even realize what had happened.

Leo's 'Not so Water-Vial'
Leo stopped dead in his tracks.

'Why would you ever do that?' She said. And then she laughed. Leo was prepared for her to yell at him to get lost, based on her expression, but he wasn't expecting to get laughed at. 'Do what? I just came up to you?' He said, waving his hands in the air, holding his water-vial.

Hold up.
That was not his water-vial.

Leo wanted to scream, 'That was completely unintentional, but what came out was, 'Ba boo ga goo-' He stopped himself.

At least the potion worked?

Leo turned back at his table, and looked. His 'water-vial' stood innocently on the wood. Then what did he just drink? He looked into his hands, and found out that he was holding a vial; the same vial he thought looked eerily similar to his bottle.

So he ended up drinking a potion after all. But the weird thing was, he didn't feel weird at all. It was as if he had drunk actual water, which was most definitely not the case, judging by the way the girl in front of him was laughing so hard her eyes were starting to look teary. He tried to reason with the girl, or at least stop her laughing. 'Stoo Stoo poo-'
...
What amazing words of wisdom, Leo.

What was more stranger though, was the fact that, now he was facing her, this girl looked very familiar. Leo was sure that he had met her somewhere. Even her laugh seemed familiar. He looked intently at her, trying to remember where he had seen her.

Potions Class

Maddy’s laughter only got worse when he turned around and realized what had happened.

Oh Merlin,” she wheezed, clutching her side dramatically, “you really did drink a random potion.”

She pointed at him.

Now look at you, not being able to form words properly!

Maddy straightened up, still fighting a laugh, “Relax. If it was poison, you’d probably be on the floor by now.” That was the best she could come up with to comfort him.....Not quite helping but still.

Maddy couldn't help but notice something familiar about this person. How talking to him felt like she had done this somewhere else before!

Maddy looked at him carefully since he seemed familiar, the voice, the face the clumsiness....WAIT a minute, "LEO?"

She took a step back in shock, "The ‘fell over absolutely nothing and blamed gravity’ Leo?!

Suddenly, the laughter changed completely.

Now it was delighted.

A grin spread across her face, wild and genuine.

You disappeared to another country when we were six and THIS is how we reunite?

She gestured at him. Seeing at how still he couldn't talk properly!

“With you accidentally drinking a random potion?”

She laughed again, shaking her head.

No, actually, that tracks. That is exactly how you’d come back into my life. You still havent changed huh?

Leo's 'Not so Water-Vial'
Leo wanted to protest more, despite having his wide range of vocabulary shortened to meaningless babbles, but his voice stopped working when she exclaimed his name out loud.

'LEO! The ‘fell over absolutely nothing and blamed gravity’ Leo?!'

To be fair, every time he did fall, there was something responsible for tripping him.

But there was probably only one person who he knew would phrase it that way. Or at least who he still remembered from his childhood. Madeline?!? Okay, sure, now the evil sadistic laugh and the comment on how the potion was not poison added up, but Madeline got into Hogwarts too? On top of that, she was a Hufflepuff.

His first reaction was delight. 'Wah-ah-bo-bo-'.
Oh, for god's sake, seriously? Such a touching reunion and he's reduced to a bawling baby.

Then, his smile slowly faded, replaced with mock horror. Oh. It's Madeline. The same Madeline who got mad at him for not calling her Maddy (well, for some reason, Leo always called her Madeline). The same Madeline who dragged Leo into some thing or the other. Countless times he had to stand in front of his mother getting chided while Madeline desperately tried to supress her laughter. That Madeline. Was in the same house as him.

Leo felt that the time to say goodbye to his peaceful life was nearing. But first, priorities. He needed to communicate before she dragged him around the campus showing off the 'grown up baby'. He put one finger onto his other palm, gesturing for a paper and quill.

I was wondering if Leo and Maddy have a small gesture between them, like Maddy always flicking his nose or always tripping him for fun or something like that?
