Testing The Waters

Elara sat on the edge of the stone bank as the sun cast shimmers of warm colours across the waters such as a hue of orange and a light colour of pink. The chill of the evening was starting to set in.

Elara sat cross-legged on the cold stone bank, staring blankly at her reflection on the waters small waves. Her black, hair acted as curtains around her pale face as she leaned over.

She just sighed, grabbing a small flat pebble near her.

The weather was already cold and it seemed as it was only going to get colder from now on after the sun sets.

Plink-plink-plink

Elara threw the pebble across the waters as if to test it. It skipped across the waves and drowned in the water, vanishing from site in the dark waters with a satisfying glup. She wondered what made the waters so dark to make it almost black.

The silence of the lake was different from back home. There was always a distant hum of cars passing by in the distance back in the city, but here the quietness of the atmosphere felt heavy and ancient and weirdly... calming and soothing. Elara pulled her robes tighter around her shoulders, the clothing offering a warmth against the rising mist of the lake. Her thought were interrupted by a sound of footsteps. She turned her head to look at the subject of the noise.
