A Skateboard, a Chocolate Frog, and a World Unknown

G. approached his seat and sat down, doing his best to appear calm. The week had been a blur: shopping for supplies, Diagon Alley, wands, witches … and wizards? Up until then, he had been just G. with a somewhat normal life. He had some friends and parents who probably cared about him (although he rarely saw them), and his skateboard.
But now here he was. He listened to the chattering of students as they rustled to find their seats around him. They seemed normal. Just kids, right? Laughing, joking, horsing around. Except they knew magic. And G. had never known anyone like that before. Were they really any different from him?
As the train departed, G. looked out the window. It was an overcast day, lightly showering. He could hear the slow chugging of the train engine as it took off, and water droplets pattering on the window. G. thought back to the incident. If magic saved him that day, it couldn’t be all bad, could it? Could Hogwarts really teach him to control magic and use it for good? He wondered if any of the kids at Hogwarts could skate.
G. looked on in wonder as a tiny brown frog hopped up on the back of the seat in front of him, paused for a moment, and then hopped to the next seat. Wait, was that frog made of chocolate? This was going to be weird, he thought.

It was finally here. The day which would change life as she knew it. It was honestly such a thrill, especially with the stories her parents had told her about Hogwarts.
Undeniably, she had been a bit disappointed she wouldn't see her friends again, but hey, going to a school that taught magic was way more thrilling than real life, that sucked. Especially with all the comparisons she faced, she was worried that she might lose herself. Her sense of identity.
However, she was confident that meeting new people could change that. They didn't really know her, so she could describe the real Briar to them. The extroverted, loud, and possibly absent-minded music loving person she was. Music...she would write more songs with Rose right? Her twin sister was as scared about leaving home as she was. At least they weren't alone.
She boarded the train, her heavy trunk weighing down her arms. That hurt. She really should work on her strength this summer, she hadn't played basketball in a very long time.
She started finding compartments to sit, Rose and her had decided to venture off themselves at the start.
Since she had arrived a bit late, she couldn't find many available. Finally, she found a place near a not naturally blonde boy, who looked like he was...questioning his existence?
Finally, she couldn't bare it anymore, she set the trunk down with a bang.
She stood at the entrance, catching her breath.
"Hey, mind if I sit here?"
