Lily made her way through the busy corridors, her satchel at her side, filled with the homework they got after their first Charms class. She was still surprise that Andrea was in her Charms class and that she made a friend so easily. She was happy Andrea agreed to meet today, she was excited to chat while they finished the homework together. What if we can't keep a conversation going? Or worse, I ramble too much?

She couldn't spend too much time worrying. The entrance to the courtyard was approaching and she was sure they would find something to talk about. They both had many similar interest, surprisingly.

Lily made her way to one of the stone benches in front of the gorgeous fountain. A gentle breeze carried around, not enough to make ther papers fly away luckily.

It was near afternoon and students were scrce as some classes were still in progress. But Lily and Andrea both had free time.

As Lily spread out her papers, quill and ink, she glanced at her watch. Right on time. The quiet gave her time to think. Andrea was kind and made her feel like she belonged. And their shared interest for learning and books was perfect. This friendship better last a while.

As she finished setting up, she looked up at the sound of footsteps approaching, a small smile lit up her face. Perfect timing.

Clutching her brown leather tote bag, Andrea quickly strode past the busy corridors, squeezing through groups of students with a few Excuse me!'s.

This had started to become a daily habit. Free period meant busy crowds, but she didn't really mind it. After all, it gave her a few extra timenfor studying.

Andrea smiled to herself, she and Lily had plans to catch up on Charms homework by the courtyard. She was excited to spend more time with her friend, especially over a subject she quite liked.

After bumping into some classmates, Andrea eventually made her way towards the courtyard's entrance.

She took a moment to catch her breath, ironing down the invisible wrinkles on her robe with her hands, and tightening her grip on her somewhat heavy tote bag.

Among the the other students who were chatting, eating, and even playing, Andrea spotted Lily sitting on a bench by the fountain, looking composed with her study materials already set.

Andrea's eyes brightened as she quickened her walking pace. She smiled at the other girl, sitting herself down on the stone bench. "Sorry for the wait! The corridors get really busy during free period." She huffed, rummaging through her bag to get her own set of study materials. She began pulling out her Charms book and parchments, aligning them neatly against Lily's.

"I'm just glad to get out of Herbology," She complained, leaning back dramatically. "Our professor gave my classmate an earful just because he almost forgot to wear her protective equipment." Andrea relaxed, sighing to herself. "I'm definitely ready for some wand waving."

Lily watched Andrea approach right on time. As Andrea organized her stuff, along side Lily's own papers, Lily smiled and greeted her friend. "Hi, no worries the corridors were a struggle for me too. My class ended a little earlier, which is probably the only reason I got here first." Lily chuckled softly, as she recalled almost falling on her way here, from the struggle of passing by everyone.

As they were both now settled, Lily felt the last of her nerves leave and excitement swell. She's really here, and we're doing this, she thought, scooting back a bit to be able to write down notes if needed.

As Andrea explained the events of her last class, Lily listened carefully, intrigued with the common events that happen in her own Herbology class. "Yes, the professor has been clear many times in Herbology about protective equipment. I think I've heard her mention it to students over a dozen times and I've only had two Herbology classes so far." She leaned in, tapping at her parchment where she scribbled down her notes during yesterday's Charms lesson. "Speaking of, I'm stuck on question 3 of the homework." She revealed shyly. Lily hated not knowing the answers, but she knew that with Andrea she didn't mind admitting not understand. Is this what friendship feels like? Lily quite liked this.

With a soft smile, Andrea leaned closer towards Lily, eyes roaming over the neat writings on her parchment. Andrea hadn't expected to actually quite struggle in Charms, as she already knew what to expect thanks to her advance studying. She liked the idea of the class, learning how to pronounce the spells and how to wave your wands just right. She had a few mishaps—embarrassing ones too. Though, she learned quickly and made up for the mistakes she had done.

"Speaking of, I'm stuck on question three of the homework." Lily admitted in a shy manner. Andrea raised her eyebrows as she read the question. It had been taught this morning. But for some reason, Andrea's mind was blanking out.

She blinked quickly, mouth opening as if to say something.
I know this one, I definitely do! She thought, yet nothing came to her mind except the blurred image of her professor waving their wand for the rest of the class to follow.

An awkward silence filled the air as Andrea stuttered,
"Oh! Well..." She began. Her shoulders drooped down as she came to a realization that she too was lost about their homework. "I'm actually... pretty confused too." She squeaked out, her admission sounding more like a question with how her pitch got higher by the end.

Merlin! This is so embarrassing... She thought, wincing to herself as she glanced back at the expecting girl.

Andrea's confession caught Lily by surprise, and she felt an instant of relief. She was also confused? Then the realization struck, I am not the only person who doesn’t understand. The realization caused her shoulders to relax and reduced the tightness in her chest.

At one point, Lily had been concerned about falling behind in the class while the others were moving on. However, knowing that the confusion was mutual gave her assurance that she wasn’t a lost cause.

"I feel much better now that we are in this together," she said, sitting back and looking at her parchment that was still open on question three. “I was concerned that I was the only one who failed to grasp the lesson.” Once again, Lily looked at the notes and back at the question for further consideration. "We can work together to solve it. Since we’re both lost, perhaps we can overcome this together."

Tapping her quill softly against the page, lost in thought, she went through her notes again, passing them to Andrea for her to review after. "I think we should compare notes to see if either of us found something that would help," she said, now completely comfortable, no longer embarrassed.

This was what she really loved; putting things together and testing ideas off someone who felt the same way she did. Andrea was a perfect partner and a great friend.

As she waited for her friend to respond, the light wind in the courtyard ruffled her hair and made her heart sparkle with delight as they went through this together. This was what she had been hoping for. A friend who made the parts of Hogwarts that were hard somehow easier to deal with.

From Lily's encouraging words, Andrea felt a strong sense of determination. It might seem a bit silly to see her getting worked up on such a simple assignment, but being able to discuss those small doubts of hers with a friend filled her with a happiness that she couldn't quite describe.

Andrea had always handled her problems alone. At times where she felt like she didn't know enough, she'd spend nights studying books in her family library to spare herself from the self-imposed humiliation of not being enough as the heir to her lineage of wealth and businesses. Spending almost her entire childhood at home with little company taught her to be independent, giving her the lack of experience of solving issues with friends.

This is nice. she thought, unable to bite back the wide grin growing on her face. Andrea picked up the notes she had written on her parchment, leaning in to compare it with Lily's. With their neat and organized writing, one could easily tell that both girls were quite intelligent. However, upon closer inspection, there were small traces of smudged ink on Andrea's notes.

Her right eye twitched as she froze, seemingly remembering what happened during class. Somehow, she had almost dozed off during their topic about the Mending Charm and had unknowingly dragged out her quill while writing, leaving the incoherent smudges on her parchments. Unfortunately for her, the question they had been stuck on was about that topic.

You have got to be kidding me. She thought, blankly staring at her good-for-nothing papers. She had studied prior to their class just to avoid feeling muddled, yet what she got in return was drowsiness and half-written notes.

Honestly, did she really think life at Hogwarts would be easy? It seemed that she had much more to learn. Thankfully, she wouldn't have to do it alone.
