A white vapor stretched into the air, the metallic clang of the train mingling with the voices and laughter of people. Everything seemed too big.
Kiara stood still in front of the locomotive, tightly gripping the handle of her suitcase. She knew perfectly well that this wasn't just any train, but the one that separated what she had been until now, a Muggle, from everything she was about to become, a witch.
The train's shrill whistle startled her. Someone passed by her, lightly bumping her shoulder, dragging a trunk larger than himself... Everyone was getting on. Everyone except her, who was still lost in the doubts that enveloped her.
She breathed in slowly. Behind her, her parents were smiling enthusiastically. She returned the smile, before taking a step forward and boarding the train.
Inside, the corridor was narrow, filled with unfamiliar voices, laughter, and doors opening and closing. A new world already in motion.
She walked slowly, peering into the compartments: some groups had already formed, other young people had anxious expressions on their faces.
Finally, she found a half-empty one... she got in and sat down by the window. Her hands were shaking slightly, but she hid them by holding them together. When the train began to move, her heart did too.
She rested her forehead against the cold glass. In that moment, her fear vanished, replaced by the eagerness for a new adventure.

Lilly had been nervous about the train. Her parents had helped lift her trunk onto a carriage, but it was up to her to choose which compartment she would go into. She walked slowly past a few, but most of them were basically full, and she didn’t want to have an awkward first train ride.

She continued onto the next carriage, still looking in each window. She eventually found one with just one girl inside, but nerves suddenly overtook her, her arms gaining a familiar weakness that would hopefully fade with a few minutes. The train jolted forwards, her mind being pulled into a chaotic pandemonium. She looked out the train window, eyes scanning for her parents. They hooked onto them, standing at the far side of the platform. She stuck her head out the window as several other people were doing at various points down the train. They saw her, and started waving with melancholic smiles plastered on their faces. She smiled back, her arm automatically waving back, her brain seemingly going into autopilot.

The train picked up speed, leaving her parents on the station as the brick station wall filled her view. The smile on her face slowly faded. She glanced back at the compartment with the girl in. She took a deep breath before sliding the door open. She walked in, steeling herself as she smiled and said Hi, I’m Lilly. Is it okay if I joined you?

~you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love~
