History/Background Story: Altheda grew up the only child of a wealthy family on an estate in Herefordshire, England, and thus far her life has been decidedly static.

Her mother and father, Jocosa and Theodric, loved and spoiled her. She was doted on and provided for--but from afar. Her parents, for all they were loving, were also very independent. They were the same with each other, too; for all they adored one another, they'd spend hours upon house separated in their own house. Father had his history books and his research on historical druidry, and mother spent time in her lab or in the extensive garden. Altheda, as soon as she was old enough to take care of her own needs, was largely left alone.

She didn't mind. Quite the contrary, really, as she took it upon herself to read Mother's herbology books (understanding more and more of it as she went along) to familiarize herself with the magical properties of the plants in the garden. Sometimes Mother would let her watch her brew in her lab, as long as she remained quiet and didn't touch anything.

While she might have thrived on her own in terms of independent learning, it has left her with something of an emotional disadvantage. She is used to distance, and stasis. When presented with a real problem, or a situation does not go the way she expected, she is quite easy to rile up. In fact, this is exactly what brought about her magical presentation; when she was 6, at the far edge of the garden, curiosity brought her too close to a gnome and the creature pulled her hair hard. Altheda, hurt, a little frightened, and quite indignant, cried out and stumbled back as she felt a burst of something well from within her and push outwards. When she spotted the gnome again, it was entirely a gaudy, unfortunate yellow color.

Her Hogwarts letter was not a surprise, nor was her sorting, as both of her parents were in Slytherin as well (despite the sizable number of Ravenclaw ancestors, and a couple of her older cousins). She didn't expect Ravenclaw though, as she likes to learn things so long as they further her progress toward her goal to excel at potions, and not quite learning for its own sake.

She's a delicate girl, with fair skin and dark blonde hair and pale green eyes. She dresses well--some might say she is often overdressed, especially considering her family rarely had visitors, but the importance of presenting yourself well was always stressed in her home.

Due to her isolated upbringing, it rarely occurs to her to simply approach someone and introduce herself, though she is happy to talk should someone else include her. Similarly, she is not prone to inserting her opinion into a conversation unless asked directly. When she does speak, she likes to use the more impressive words she's read in her mother's science books, or her father's philosophy books. She likes the way they make her sound older.
