Why am l crying again? Open

As l walked up the steps to the owlery, l couldn't help but wonder what imbecile decided they needed to put it this high! l mean, couldn't they have put it lower? The owls can FLY! Anyway, she was only bitter because it had been weeks since she came to Hogwarts, wait no practically a MONTH, and her parents hadn't written yet! Didn't they miss her? She was a bit of a handful at home, always going off and exploring.. it gave her parents a headache keeping up with her.

Mary stopped at the door, watching the owls in their nests with letters, seeing some coming back while other flew off to their destination. Maybe they just are happy they don't have to deal with YOU anymore. a tiny voice whispered in my mind and l quickly told it to shut up. l may stress my parents but there's no doubt that they love me. No, doubt at all.. l took shaky steps in the room and found my family's owl, Fredrick. He was pretty old passed down from my grandmother.

My heart nearly burst with joy when l saw what his claws! Not just one but two letters! l quickly snatched the letters, making Fredrick jump up and settle on a perch above me, glaring, and l glared back, "Its been almost a MONTH Fredrick! If anyone should be mad its me! Where have you been?!" he simply cawed at me and looked away. l shook my head and l opened the first letter happy to see my Mum's writing and my fathers. It read:

It was just a letter, and my parents being... l didn't finish the thought as l folded the paper carefully and put it in my pocket to read again later. Which pegged the question, if my parents wrote on the same parchment, who was the second letter from? l opened it carefully and my eyes lit up, it was from Pete! l didn't have many friends back home, except one, kinda. Me and Pete were really close but a few months before l had left for Hogwarts me and Pete sorta drifted apart.. l quickly opened the letter:

l could feel the blush creeping onto my cheeks, Pete actually missed me! Back home he was like, the cool one, l never really understood why he wanted to hang out with me. l put his letter safe in my pocket and before l walked out l waved Fredrick goodby and watched him soar out the window of the Owlery. l went back out to the steps and looked at the big blue sky, and l felt so light, like nothing could take the joy l was feeling out of this moment. l started to walk down the steps and l saw someone coming up, although they looked like a small ant from where l was standing.

Some wounds feel so deep we don't think they'll heal, but when we open our eyes and truly look through the pain we see these three: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
