A new year
Sara was absolutely delighted to learn she was going to Hogwarts. Her older brother had gone before her. She had shown signs of strong magic from a young age. This would be the best year she had in a while.
She waved to her parents and, more importantly, the golden Labrador beside them. Sara knew she would miss Honeydukes (or "Duke," as she affectionately called him) more than anyone. Her brother, Jake, was there to drop her off, but he was busy chatting with old friends. They were also dropping off younger siblings.
'Typical Jake,' Sara thought, a smirk tugging at the corners of her mouth. Since he’d already left Hogwarts, she’d have to wait until the Christmas holidays to prank him properly with a fresh batch of Dungbombs from Hogsmeade.
Settling into her seat, Sara kept her eyes on Duke until the steam engine hissed, and the train slowly pulled away. She smiled, her hands fidgeting with excitement. Then, she pulled out her favorite book, The Tales of Beedle the Bard, and began to read. But, as she went farther from Duke, she began to feel homesick. After all, she wouldn't see him for some time. Shaking these thoughts from her head, she returned to reading. Sara barely noticed the compartment door opening and a person sitting down across from her.
