Corrine could feel her legs complaining as she hastily pushed through a few groups of students walking through the halls. “Excuse me,” she says quickly, not even having time to be mortified at the rush she’s in. She couldn’t afford to; she had set up the alarm for her magical clock to ring around 30 minutes into lunch time. Typically, that’d be enough time for her to take a nap after her class and also a bit of time to eat.

The problem was. . . she slept through it!

Why today of all days?! She can’t help but complain internally, forcing herself to rush at a faster pace than she could manage on a daily basis. Upon realizing that she had overslept, her panic led her to choose between grabbing a proper meal (but in turn being late to class) and getting to class somewhat on time (but going hungry).

Based on the rumbling complaints of her stomach, her body did not approve of her choice. Nonetheless, she finally arrives at the first years’ greenhouse, stopping right in front of the door and out of sight of the students. She bends forward, placing her hands on her knees in exhaustion as she attempts to breathe through the pain in her chest.

Never again, she thinks to herself as a wave of dizziness washes over her.

She says that but it’s likely that this happens again, she’ll happily do it for the sake of not disappointing any of her professors.

"We will start the lesson soon,”

Said the professor, and therefore, Paul, just like the others, started getting into the First-Year's Greenhouse. Getting a seat in, approximately, the middle of the room, he seemed pretty satisfied with his choice, judging from the fact that after having sat down, he started rocking backward on the chair. Long before taking out his feather, ink and a single, universal notebook, which was rather lettuce-shaped now, after a week and something at school.
"And do not mess with the plants in front of you."
It wasn't till the professor said that, that Paul noticed the plants on the table. So he swung forward, to take a look at them. One of them was in a flower pot full of soil; the other plants, he bowed down to and smelled, respecting the professor's command not to touch them.

Then though, right in the middle of smelling something that actually smelled like some spice he knew but didn't know its name, Cor appeared, distracting him. His eyes widened and he stood up, waving at her with both of her arms, to be seen.

"Hey, Athie! Over 'ere!" Apparently wanting to be heard too, Paul called a little louder, to beat the general loudness of the voices of his merrily chatting classmates. He pointed at the chair next to him.

"Yo. What's up? You're late-ish." Paul narrowed his eyes, as he looked at her with more carefulness. "And you look tired. Have you slept well?" Asked the boy, not really filtering the facts about her looks that he was stating.

It isn’t long after she gathers her breath before she hears a familiar nickname being shouted. There’s only one person in the world who calls me Athie, she thinks with wide eyes, turning just enough to see an excited Paul, who is currently waving his arms in the air in excitement. Just him alone caught some of their classmates’ attention, and when they realized that “Athie” actually referred to the previously breathless girl, their attention naturally gravitated towards her too.

Corrine could already feel herself shrinking at the attention, but she goes ahead and walks over to Paul (who thankfully chose to sit in the middle of the classroom instead of the front) with a weak smile. “I just woke up,” she whispers to her friend, embarrassed. “I was taking a nap, but I overslept. . even missed lunch too.”

On cue, her stomach rumbles softly, but she ignores it in favor of rubbing her forehead with a wince. Most days, she could handle going without food for a while even if it’s at the cost of making her sad, but today?

Today just doesn’t feel right. Her head is pounding, likely due to a combination of lack of sleep and lack of food, but there’s also something else. For some reason, her body is aching more than normal.

In short, she feels absolutely miserable today.

“I was taking a nap, but I overslept. . even missed lunch too.”
"Hm..." Paul murmurs with an appreciative humm. Wait, she overslept? She, who's perfect at everything but sport, overslept? How come something like that is even possible?
He actually started laughing at some point, likely over the absurdness of the situation. Shaking his head, he looked down, swinging back on his chair.

"Oversleeping, huh?" Did he bring up eventually. "There's only one thing I can say. Welcome to the dark side, we have cookies!"

As he hears her stomach rumble, Paul lifts his index finger, probably to gesture to her that she should wait. "Eh, wait a sec. I happen to have..." He bends to his backpack and puts his hand inside, raking through his things, in order to find a cereal bar in a plastic package that he'd got from his parents. It wasn't much but it was something, an acceptable midday snack.

"Uh, here it is..." Does he whisper, handing the cereal bar over to her, as he straightens his back. "The lesson has just started. You can manage a bite or two, just crouch down a little. So that the professor doesn't see you."

Paul shrugs, looking at her with a genuine, warm-hearted look of his brown eyes. There's no doubt that eating a cereal bar is exactly what he would do in this sort of situation.

Corrine continued to rub her forehead with two fingers, wincing in pain. Her head felt like it’s being hammered, and she hated every single bit of it. However, hearing Paul laugh at her misfortune lightheartedly, she also chuckled along weakly. Knowing Paul, the boy didn’t mean anything by it, seeing as he just seemed amused that she’s done something so uncharacteristic.

“Don’t laugh at me,” she whined, but it’s clearly in a joking manner as she elbowed him. “Going hungry feels horrible.”

Just as she had said that, Paul raised his index finger, as if telling her to wait. The girl leaned closer to his side of the table, watching as he brought out a cereal bar, immediately offering it to her with a grin.

Her heart melted. Paul’s always so sweet, even if he’s playful more often than not, she smiled at her friend as she graciously took the cereal bar. “Thank you.” She whispered, glancing at the professor. Though she didn’t want to cause any issues between her or the professor, she also knows how severely hungry she was; for once, maybe prioritizing her needs would be best.

And so, she slouched slightly in her seat, secretly beginning to take small bites out of the cereal bar she had been offered. It’s not the most appetizing; goodness knows that the food prepared by the Hogwarts elves—at least, based on what she remembered, having listened to a few Hufflepuffs in the halls talk about them in the corridors—were plenty better.

Who was she to complain though? Her stomach’s basically eating itself, so better this than nothing. “Thank you,” she mumbled to him with a slightly full mouth, causing her cheeks to flush in embarrassment at her lack of manners.

“Don’t laugh at me,”
Asked Cor, and Paul shook his head, still amused. He was intending to act according to her wish.

"I'm sorry." Did he hum softly, in a kind of light-hearted manner. He was still smiling though, with his crooked smile.

When Cor told him that it felt horrible feeling hungry, he grimaced. "I know. That's why I carry the cereal bars. They're not the best, but... they can speed one up pretty well. And, there's chocolate on them. Which is good, 'cause who doesn't like chocolate, right?" Paul rambles quietly.

When she thanks him for the first time, he nods his head once, winking at her. "Any time, Althie."

He then goes silent, as the teacher keeps giving lecture on the basics of Herbology.
"Many plants can easily snuff out your life if you do not hear my words."
"Hm... interesting." Wonder which plants she means. The boy stitches his eyebrows thoughtfully, as he leans back on the chair, placing his elbow on the desk behind himself.

Then, Cor thanks him again, so he smirks at her. "You're welcome. More welcome than the first time that you thanked me." Joked the boy, taking a look at his neighbour again. The teacher was speaking about the safety tools and rules and... stuff that he wasn't really a fan of.

My, she still looks... I don't know. Sick-ish, perhaps? I mean, if she didn't sleep well at night and missed lunch then it could be the reason. But is that all? "Listen, do you feel better? 'Cause you still look... I don't know, ill."

As Corrine happily snacked on the cereal bar that she had been given, she also made sure to pay at least half-attention to the ongoing lecture, occasionally hiding her food out of sight to not get in trouble. “I reckon people who are allergic may not like chocolate as much,” she said offhandedly, her voice coated in subtle amusement.

Thankfully, as far as the girl is aware, she’s not allergic to anything. Who knows though? She still has plenty of time to discover any of them at any given moment. I wonder if wizards get allergies from any of the magical beings or plants, the girl thought, feeling the prevalent pounding of her headache dwindle down into a dull ache, much to her relief.

“Many plants can easily snuff out your life if you do not hear my words,”

Corrine winced, glancing back at the pots displayed nearby. Particularly, she gave an unsure glance to the slug-looking plant, covered in swells that exuded pus. I’d be surprised if that isn’t deadly, she looked away, feeling sickened. No complaints about not touching that without supervision.

For a moment, she felt herself dazing off, her head dropping. It’s only when she heard Paul’s voice—not even registering his words—that she quickly shook herself out of it, blinking rapidly to wake herself. “Huh?” She mumbled, rubbing her eyes as she processed her friend’s words slowly.

“Oh. . do I look ill?” She said tiredly, uncertain if she actually was. Sure, her body felt like it’s being weighed down by a thousand bricks, and the dull ache in her head was persistent, but maybe it’s just exhaustion.. maybe.

Paul grinned over the idea of being allergic to chocolate. "Those poor, lost souls." He came up with a dramatic cross, his fingers first going to the forehead, then the chest, then his left shoulder, and then the right one. He wasn't aware of ethical and unethical. He just did it because he saw it when he was with his grandmothers in a church, at a funeral of a distant relative. However, the corners of his lips were twitching. "Rest in peace."

"And are you? Allergic to something, I mean." Asked the boy quietly, not to disturb the teacher more than his other classmates.

He watched as Corrine looked at the plants in front of them, and produced some motion of dismay. Hm, she's likely observing the odd plant, which looked like a fresh, sick piece of black snot with green dots on it. Disgusting. Ran through his head. But how does it act when I touch it with something else than human skin?

He bent down to pull his quill out of his bag. Then, he held it in his head, lowering it to the plant. He looked at his neighbour, who looked extremely bored and sleepy. He poke her side with his elbow, jerking his head to the quill millimetres above the plant. "Hey... should I?"

Did he smirk mischievously, rising his eyebrows several times comically.

As she asked him whether she looked ill, he nodded, his face sympathetic. "You do. You should go to the infirmary, unless you wish to infect your immediate surroundings in all classes." Suggested the boy boldly. "I can go with you, if you don't wanna be alone there."

At the motion Paul did, Corrine could only shake her head in slight amusement. “I’m not allergic to anything,” the girl said as she carefully folded the wrapper of the cereal bar to be pocketed away in her bag. “As far as I’m aware, I’m pretty much able to eat most things just fine without any reactions. .”

She watched with curious eyes as the boy proceeded to grab his quill, just to hover it near the.. Disastrous plant. Pointedly, she shook her head, placing a hand over his just to stop him from his idea. “I don’t think that pus would be pleasant to clean off of your quill, Sol.” The nickname stumbled out before she could think about it fully, and she froze.

Was it too early to call him that? She panicked, not knowing what to do. She’s been spending some spare time of hers to think about what to call him, but she couldn’t really figure anything else out. He’s just. . sunny. Compared to me, at least.

After a beat of awkward silence, she coughs. “I’ll be okay. I’ll just try not to get any of my germs on you.” She moved to create a bit of space between their chairs, worried.

"In every life, through every door. . . I hope to meet y0u again."

He nodded his head, acknowledging the statement about allergies. He had known she was not allergic to chocolate, or cereal, and some other ingredients, for she ate his grandma's cookies without any trouble. "That's good. I'm not either, but my sister is allergic to cats' fur." He made a dramatic pause then. "My parents told me that, when we were kids, we were playing in the garden and while at that, she tried to pet our neighbour's cat. But then, her whole body swallowed and she couldn't breathe. They had too call the ambulance and she spent days in the hospital."

He paused for a moment over the memory. "Hm, I wonder whether she'd be allergic to Kneazle fur, if she encountered one. Do you think it's even possible to like... be allergic to a magical beast or... or a plant? And if so, what's a way to prevent the reaction? Is there a potion which could help?" The boy was apparently thinking aloud. Shaking his head afterwards.

As he was holding the quill in his hand above the Bubotuber, he seemed thoughtful and perhaps, amused too. It really did make him curious if the plant reacted to feathers the same as it did to skin. However, one thing made him even more curious, and that was the nickname she used for him. So, his eyes travelled over to her, and his eyebrows furrowed. "Sol? What does that mean?" Asked the boy, breathing in, as his mind wrapped itself around the thought. "Wait. Has it got something to do with salt? Or the solar system? Or... hm, solitude? I'm not alone though. I have several friends who I get along with pretty well."

It was the right time for him to put his quill down onto the desk and move his full attention to the girl beside him, who had just moved away from him, not to contaminate the area with germs. "Hey, I didn't..." Paul sighed. Damn, Paul, mind what you're saying sometimes, will you? "I'm sorry, I didn't mean right now. I was speaking about, like... general situations. What could happen. It's a possibility but not a sure thing."
