The moment she had found the library, it was like coming home. For Anna, the library had always been a haven of sorts, for as long as she could remember. When she'd been in elementary school in Georgia, she'd spend every day at recess in the library. Except those unfortunate days in which the library was closed, leaving her very much adrift.
Learning Hogwarts had a vast library with tens of thousands of books, maybe even more? It left her with a feeling of curiosity and immense excitement. She had already devoured a good chunk of the books she had been assigned for first year. Her mind was buzzing with all the new information she had absorbed. In truth, she still found herself almost wanting to pinch herself to make sure she wasn't dreaming.
Everything she'd learned seemed right out of a dream or a story. She recalled feeling as such when she'd delved deeper into Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. Mermaids? Vampires? Werewolves?
Dragons? Creatures she had heard of of course, but had always thought to be just fairytales.
And knowing there was a subject for it? Anna was deeply saddened to know she'd have to wait until her third year before she could finally participate! But until then, she would learn as much about the subject as she could.
Which is what led her specifically to the library today in fact.
She browsed through the shelves until she'd pulled out as many options to read as possible. Finally, she settled in the back, opened
Merpeople: A Comprehensive Guide to Their Language and Customs, and began to read.
