I’ve been thinking a lot about the darkest corners of our world lately—specifically the three spells that can land a wizard a life sentence in Azkaban. We all know they are "Unforgivable," but if we step away from the Ministry’s blanket definition and look at the nature of the magic itself, which one is actually the most horrific?
I wanted to open up a real debate here. If you had to weigh the weight of these three, which one do you consider the absolute peak of evil?


The Killing Curse (Avada Kedavra): It is the ultimate finality. There is no shield, no counter-curse, and no coming back. It’s the instant theft of a future, leaving nothing but a cold body behind. Is the total erasure of a soul the greatest crime a wizard can commit?


The Cruciatus Curse (Crucio): This is pure, focused cruelty. It doesn't kill; it shatters the mind through unbearable, agonizing pain. We’ve heard stories of people being driven to permanent insanity because of it. Is a lifetime of mental brokenness worse than a quick, painless death?


The Imperius Curse (Imperio): To me, this one feels the most insidious. It’s the total destruction of free will. You become a puppet, a shell of a person doing things you’d never dream of, and you might not even realize it’s happening. Is living without your own mind and autonomy a fate more terrifying than death or pain?

Imperio because it can control you and make you do the unforgivables

Honestly, Avada Kadevra is chill caus you don't feel anything if you're the victim BUT (ik ya'll are coming for me), it's obviously devastating because it's a loss of life but compared to the 2 others, especially crucio, it's less painful.
Crucio is being described as having burning hot knives piercing through every inch of your body or your bones being on fire which is like... painful asf which personally seems like the worst one.
The Imperius curse just depends on what the victim does honestly but it can be either top 1 worst or top 2

I think it is crucio as when your mind is shattered, you experience pain beyond measure. I think rather than having your mind in insanity, one would rather be dead. @James Adams

In my opinion, it's either Crucio or Imperio. I think it depends on the person.

If one truly doesn’t care about others and their own actions, the only thing Imperio could hurt would probably be their own pride. In this case, Crucio would probably be worse for such a person, as they can’t be hurt that much mentally. (if we don’t include narcissists, who put their own pride over everything)

Whereas people with strong morals or fears regarding their own actions might be tormented and destroyed by the Imperio curse mentally. Crucio doesn’t last forever (although painful as hell, and able to ruin one’s mind too – but not always). The consequences of your own actions (assuming the victims of Imperio blame themselves, obv) stay with you until the end.

Definitely Crucio. It’s supposed to be torture.

My reasoning behind this:

Death is inevitable, yes. That is something as humans we all know. Though there is a major difference between this curse and the other two. The other two curses are reversible as in they can be stopped and taken back as easily as they were started. Death is permanent which means that when someone is killed with the killing curse, there is no going back.
