Gavin Bennett

History/Background:
Standing 4’10” tall, Gavin has short dark hair that he has trouble getting to cooperate with his comb each morning. He has hazel eyes, and a light complexion from spending most of his time indoors either playing video games, or reading books. Gavin is used to being alone, as an only child, and he enjoys doing things that do not require other people - or at least not too many people. He has a love of fantasy video games - always playing a wizard (somehow they always just felt right). He is not completely comfortable around too many people, but has learned how to interact when necessary. Gavin’s parents are both Muggles. His father is an accountant and his mother a school teacher. As an only child his parents encouraged him to use his mind like they do, and would participate with him in games and puzzles. In primary school Gavin had some acquaintances his own age, but no close friends. Some of the kids in his school saw him as weird, but most just thought him quiet and too smart for his age.

Most of his free time was spent either playing fantasy video games, studying or reading. When he learned of his ability with Magic, and being a Wizard, his past started to make sense. The odd happenings, and his desire in games to use magic rather than force - he always felt more at home in his mind playing a wizard than he does on a normal day.

First Instance of Magic:
On a nice sunny when Gavin was 4 years old his parents took him to a local park to play. While he was out playing by himself on the playground another family arrived at the park to play, with their three small children and their family dog. Gavin began playing with the children - especially the boy. The two boys started to play rough - as young boys tend to do. Seeing Gavin be tough with his master, the family dog started to pull against the leash the parents tied to the bench, and they were talking together with Gavin’s parents.

After a minute or two of the boys’ rough play the dog finally pulled hard enough to work himself free of his collar. He charged and Rand at Gavin - seemingly to protect the boy Gavin was playing with. Growling and barking as he ran, the boy’s parents - as well as Gavin’s parents called out to the dog and started to run after it, but they were not fast enough. The dog, teeth bared, jumped at Gavin to bit him. At the last second Gavin noticed what was going on and put his hands up to protect his face from the leaping dog, but impact never happened. Somehow the dog was nocked back when Gavin raised his arms. The dog yelped with the impact, and turned with tail between his legs, and hid behind the parents of the boy.

Thinking something strange happened Ed, the parents took their children from the park - blaming Gavin and his parents for the actions of their dog. Since Gavin was so young he does not have much memory of this event - except that he is not a fan of large animals with sharp teeth.
