Partner In Crime
Elwyn was having a dilemma. He was super excited to start his studies at Hogwarts, but he was told that he couldn't bring his frog, Tucker, because he couldn't handle a new environment. He wanted Tucker to be there with him. So, his parents tried to make him feel better. They assured him they will take good care of Tucker and feed him well and they suggested they could go look for another pet who could give him company. At first, Elwyn felt conflicted. He wanted to have someone with him but didn't want Tucker to feel left out either. He eventually gave in and told his frog that he still loves him and he will miss him very much.
With his parents, he finally arrived to Magical Menagerie. This was their last stop in Diagon Alley. He had everything for his studies, he just needed a little friend. They stepped into the shop, looking at the various supplies and pets. His parents kept pointing out different animals. "Look! That frog looks like Tucker." Elwyn shook his head. "No, I don't want to replace Tuck, no frog." His parents nodded, understanding. They searched for another fifteen minuter or so, before standing next to the ferrets. Elwyn's eyes lit up as soon as he saw them, they were adorable. But then a thought occurred to him and he turned to his parents with a tilt of his head. "Aren't ferrets very social? Won't they need a friend?" His mom nodded, smiling gently. "Yes, but there are a few ones who don't like other ferrets and many are content alone if you give them plenty of attention and playtime. They also sleep a lot. Do you like them?" Elwyn nodded, really excited about the little creatures. "Yes, very much so. So…they won't feel lonely if I just take one? I promise I'll take care of it well." He looks at both of his parents, swinging on his leg. His dad ruffled his hair. "Which one do you want?" Elwyn points at one that looks like a European Ferret. "He's staring at me."
His dad went to talk to the shop keeper, pointing at the ferret and talking a little to the kind woman. She follows his dad and smiles at Elwyn, gently taking the ferret out. They bought it, the lady gave the ferret to his father and they happily walked out after thanking the owner. Elwyn was very excited for his ferret. He named the kit Yuki, her fur was fully white, she was an albino.
