The cushions of the sofa groaned under the weight of Robin as she plopped down, pulling her legs underneath and resting on the weight of her thick-soled boots. Robin knew that she should probably be setting a good example for any younger students, but she couldn't bring herself to care. The school had chosen to make her one of its mentors, a decision that made absolutely zero sense to her. A mistake she didn't mind the school making, considering the stipend she received for a successful mentorship. But one thing was for sure - she was never going to change how she acted for some first-year student she didn't even know. Her goal was to make the kid feel welcome and help him integrate into the school...
Not that she was exactly integrated much herself, besides finally being on the Ravenclaw duelling team. In her previous year, Robin had been a certified wallflower if not a downright outcast, something she was proud of and not in the slightest ashamed of. This year, she was on a team. And she... was a mentor. The choice to accept her was assuredly a demented one in her opinion. Only if the professors knew how much she snuck out past curfew, ventured into forbidden places, and basically defied all school rules she considered beneath her... But she supposed her Outstanding grade average and the fact that she had never been caught were good reasons enough to employ her. School's loss, she decided, and the student's gain. And her gain, monetarily speaking. She would just have to teach him all of her demented ways.
This student she was mentoring was named Emil - she had yet to meet him, but had already arranged an owl with the instructions to meet her in the library at four o'clock on Sunday, the 28th. She figured one month after his first day would be a good time to meet - early enough to help cut off bad habits but late enough to have allowed him a chance to get settled. Robin wondered who he would be as she stared into the fire, her mind wandering through possibilities. Looking down at her watch, she realized that the clock was about to turn to four. She craned her neck back towards the library entrance with curiosity, eyes wandering to find her new Gryffindor mentee.
