Kennedy was hopelessly lost. It wasn't unusual for a first year to get lost on their second day, yet Kennedy was still disappointed in herself. She prided herself on her attention to detail, but she had still gotten all turned around. Every hall looked almost the exact same. Stone. Stone. Stairway. Then more stone. You would think by now that Hogwarts would provide some sort of map to help clueless first years, but the topic was yet to be discussed. As time passed Kennedy became more and more frantic and tears threatened to fall. She walked faster now, taking random turns and occasionally peaking through the stray window. Even clues from the outside didn't help her much, except to tell her that she was likely on the second or third floor. The only thing that slightly calmed her panic was that it was her free period and she wasn't going to be late to her charms class yet. She had ventured out to find the owlry, but now had no clue where she was. It must have only been five minutes, but in Kennedy's panic it felt like 30. She sank to the floor against the wall, hopeless and helpless. Kennedy hated the feeling of not being in control, and right now she had zero power. Suddenly there were rushed footsteps down the hall, and Kennedy looked up to see a familiar face.

Of course it had to turn out that way, Elise was thinking as she rushed through the corridors. It was the second day since she arrived at Hogwarts, and she was already late. As always. Her heavy messenger bag on her shoulder was slowing her down, her hair was not as perfectly neat as she would have liked, and to top it all off, she was completely and utterly lost. Trying to find the astronomy tower shouldn't be that complicated, she thought last night. Well, it turned out it was. And now, she was just wandering randomly through the corridors, turning left once, right once, and taking a flight of stairs here and there.
In her frantic rush, Elise did not even see Kennedy, sitting on the floor against the wall, with her head in her hands. She only noticed her when she almost ran and bumped into her, stopping herself just in time to avoid a disaster.
Elise let out a little gasp of surprise with wide-open eyes, something that quickly became a broad and relieved smile. "Kennedy ?" Elise was panting in a stunned voice, her messenger bag laid down on the floor, her hands resting on her knees as she was catching her breath. "I'm so delighted to find you here !" the young Slytherin exclaimed with a dazzling smile, which was clouded by an intrigued frown. "But...wait, what are you doing here, by the way ?" she asked, still in that same tone but clearer as she managed to regain her composure.

Kennedy could not remember the girl's name for the life of her. It wasn't that she didn't know it, the name was on the tip of her tongue, but Kennedy had a theory that she had been cursed to be bad at remembering important names. It was the girl she had met on the train, and Kennedy had loved talking to her. Even though she wasn't typically the most social person, talking with the girl had been easy. But now Kennedy had to go and ruin it by forgetting her name.
"Kennedy?" The girl grinned, "I'm so delighted to find you here."
Kennedy was still lost in thought. What was her name. Alice. Abby. Emily. Ellie. Ellison. Elise. Elise was her name!
"Elise!" Kennedy greeted, maybe a little too loudly. She stood up from her spot on the floor and dusted off her robes.
"But...wait, what are you doing her, by the way?" Elise inquired.
Kennedy breathed a laugh, thinking back to how stressed she had been only a few seconds ago.
"I managed to get myself lost, and its only the second day." She shook her head with a smile. It all seemed rather ridiculous now that she had been worried about anything."I could ask the same for you. What are you doing here-wherever here is?"

Elise took her heavy messenger bag off her shoulder and placed it on the ground between her legs, still a little out of breath despite the compassionate smile on her lips. With her hands on her hips, she took a few deep breaths.
At Kennedy's interrogation, she frowned, displaying a slightly lost expression before her face lighted up again. "I was looking for the astronomy tower. I was supposed to attend a presentation session for something..." Elise shrugged before adding, "I don't exactly remember what it was about actually." Her lips cracked in a little embarrassed smile while she rubbed the back of her neck, her eyes flickering between the girl in front of her and the corridor. "I guess I missed the session anyway." the Slytherin student added with a grimace after glancing at her watch. It was indeed too late as the session must have started at least 10 minutes ago.
"But, hey, since we're both equally lost, what if we just take advantage of this time to... I don't know, wander in there, trying to find our path together?" Elise suggested with a friendly smile, dimples slightly hollowing in her cheeks.

Elise was still out of breath as she answered Kennedy's question.
"I was looking for the astronomy tower. I was supposed to attend a presentation session for something... I don't exactly remember what it was about actually. I guess I missed the Session anyway."
Kennedy frowned, she was glad that she wasn't missing an actual class, and felt bad that Elise was too late to really join the lesson by now.
"I was looking for the owlry, but I got all turned around," Kennedy admitted with a small laugh.
"But, hey, since we're both equally lost, what if we just take advantage of this time to... I don't know, wander in there, trying to find our path together?" Elise suggested with a smile. Kennedy agreed, and turned right, hoping that it led them somewhere helpful. As they walked she was reminded of a story her brother had told her.
"Did you know there is a magic room somewhere in these halls. It supposed to turn into any room someone wants; a study spot, a toilet, or even a swimming pool! I'm not sure where it is but it sure would be funny if we found it." She giggled at the through of a swimming pool in Hogwarts!
"Have you like the classes you've been able to find so far! I've been to charms and I cannot wait to learn more, all the professors seem nice from what I've seen so far."
